  1. This will be the 27th meeting between Boyle and Lincoln. Boyle leads the series 16-10, having won the previous 3 years....42-14, 41-7, 41-0. The teams played in the same district from 2001-2004 and Boyle won 69-0, 62-0, 56-7, and 63-8. Before that, Lincoln dominated the series winning 27-0, 53-6, 20-0, 28-0, and 39-0. As was noted in another thread Boyle actually dropped Lincoln County from their schedule after that 5 year stretch. Many of us can remember some of the great games that these 2 teams had over the years. Lincoln played a good game last week against North Laurel and got their first win, but the schedule they have played as compared to the Boyle schedule isn't the same. Boyle County seems to be getting better each week too. Here's hoping for a competitive game.
  2. No, the priorities are not high in the youth leagues....for any sport.
  3. Yes, several years ago Lincoln was a PLA (persistently low achieving) school. They are no longer in that classification now and have actually been declared a school of distinction..BUT having said that, Pulaski County was also a PLA school and they won a State Championship. Several on this thread have made valid arguments....lack of administrative support has to be at the top, and I also believe there are kids who need to be playing who are not.
  4. In 2006, Lincoln County was 10-2, in 2007 Larry French took Lincoln County to the State-Semi's where the lost to eventual state champion Ft. Thomas Highlands. That team had a record of 11-3 and won the district and region titles. French left after that season for Boyle County (and led them to 2 State Championships) and Lincoln County hired Mike Settles in 2008, then Travis Leffew in 2014, Lincoln hasn't had a winning season since..... going 1-9, 2-8, 4-7, 5-7, 5-6, 5-6, 3-7, 3-9, and have only won 2 play-off games, so far this season they are 0-4. That's a combined record of 28-63. During that span, teams that Lincoln County used to dominate...i.e Pulaski County, have gotten immensely better and have even won State Championships. Death Valley used to be an intimidating place to play and Lincoln County used to "expect" to win when they stepped on the field, either at home or away. What has happened to the Patriot Pride in the last 9 years?
  5. This will be the 32nd meeting between these two teams. LC leads the all time series 20-11. Lincoln's largest margin of victory was 41-0 in 2006, Garrard's largest was 14...22-8 (1978) and 28-14 (2014) In the past 10 years the Patriots are 7-3 vs the Golden Lions, but Garrard is 3-2 in the past 5 years. From 2006-2010 LC outscored GC 155-35 (31-7 avg) but in the past 5 years GC has outscored LC 142-114 (28-23 avg) These games are always good with both teams playing extremely hard in the border county rivalry. Lincoln County is still looking for an offensive identity after losing their starting QB for the season. Garrard knows their identity....run the football. Looking forward to another great game between the two teams who are only 9 miles apart.
  6. WPBK-FM 102.9 in Stanford broadcasts over 100 local high school, middle school, and even little league sports games each year. They were on of the first if not the first in central Ky to call baseball, softball, soccer and even volleyball games. I think as long as Mr. Network is at the helm, high school sports will always be a priority.
  7. Lincoln County led 18-15 after 1.....but KCC went on a 53-25 run over quarters 2 and 3 to lead 68-43 going into the 4th. Cameron Justice led KCC with 24 while Evan Hall added 21. Timmy Taylor and Jacob Conway each had 19 for Lincoln. What a team from Hindman!
  8. The games are STILL ON. JV at 5:00 and Varsity at 6:30 You can listen to the game locally on WPBK-FM 102.9, it can also be heard online at wpbkfm.com Click on the listen live icon and enjoy
  9. Central led this game by 10 points in the 2nd quarter. They also led by 6 at the end of 1st and at half. The patriots were held to only 4 field goals in first half, but were 13 of 14 from free throw line. Lincoln out scores Central 22-11 in 3rd and led 45-40 after 3. Central came back to tie it up and send it to OT. Interesting note: Lincoln held the ball for about a minute to end the game for last shot and were called for walking at 2.5 seconds to go. Central couldn't score so OT. The exact same thing happened at end of 1st OT. Lincoln holds for last shot for over a minute and was called for walking at 2.4 seconds, so OT #2. Both teams scored 5 points in that OT. The Patriots out scored the Indians 14-11 in OT #3 to win it. Great game to watch!!
  10. Tonight's game in Lancaster will be the 30th game between Lincoln and Garrard. Lincoln leads the series 20-9. Lincoln's largest margin of victory was 41-0, and Garrard's was 22-8. Lincoln County has won 8 of the past 10 games (Garrard won in 2011 and 2004) by an average of 28-11. This will be the first time that Jerry Perry has coached against a Lincoln team as the head coach. Back in the 90's (before Perry) Garrard dropped Lincoln because of the lopsided Lincoln wins. Having said that, it is a different time now, with Garrard having all the winning seasons and advancing deep into the playoffs....and Lincoln County not having a winning record since 2007 and having only won 1 playoff game since then. Lincoln County is the underdog now, but always seems to find a way to win against the Golden Lions. I think they get it done again tonight, 21-14
  11. Lincoln County head coach Travis Leffew is hosting a camp on June 20, 5:30-8:00 and June 21, 9:00-12:00. The cost is 25.00 and each camper gets a T-shirt.
  12. The first thing that Coach French needs to do, and in my opinion WILL do it, is to instill discipline on the team. In the games I saw them play last year there were way too many silly penalties that cost them in key situations...not to mention all the unsportsmanlike personal fouls that were called against them.
  13. Jason Todd was the first football player at Lincoln to be named as an AP 1st Team All State player. After graduation, he went on to punt for UK and still assists with the special teams at Lincoln County.
  14. I am very excited for Coach Leffew to be named the new head coach! He has been at Lincoln County since 2010 and is very well respected by the players and everyone involved in the program. His experiences of playing on many high school state championship teams, playing 4 years at Louisville and winning bowl games there, AND playing for several NFL teams should serve him well as head coach. He is also a great motivator and IMO the kids will always play hard for him, as he will demand it of them. PLUS.....he is an even better person!!
  15. The committe has made their decision. The advisory council has approved it. The team will be the first (as they should be) to meet the new coach this afternoon after school, then it will be made known to the public.
