  1. Dylan Stewart Conner High School Left Tackle, Right Tackle, and Defensive Tackle 2025 Last time we spoke, you said you needed to work on your pad level. Was you able to improve that part of your game? Yes, I was able to improve on my pad level, mainly when I fire off of the ball, but I feel I could still get better at it. You had also mentioned improving your confidence. Were you able to do this? Explain Yes, I was able to improve my confidence as well. I knew that for me to be able to perform to my best ability, I had to believe that. Every time I put my hand in the ground, I knew I was the baddest man in that field, and that’s the mindset I had throughout the season. As a team, you guys were able to improve your win total by three last season. What were some of the things that helped with the improvement? I feel like we bonded more as a team in general, and we were all closer together. We also put in extra work after practice and really focused on our technique. Who was the best player you have ever gone up against in a game, along with the team he played for? The best player I’ve gone up against is Austin Alexander from Cooper. Who has been the best team you have ever faced, and what made them so good? The best team I’ve ever faced was Frederick Douglass; they were overall physically and mentally more dominant than anyone that we have gone against. All-star games used to be such a big deal, almost an honor for the player. If you are invited to play in one, will you? Why or why not? I absolutely would; like you said, it is a big honor, so I would feel obliged to participate in it. I feel like that is a really big accomplishment that can’t be passed up on. What is the most rewarding part of playing on the offensive line? Moving people from point A to point B against their will. What is the best part of being a student-athlete at Conner? Just being on the team is awesome. I love the relationships I have with everyone on the team, as well as all of the coaches; it feels like family. What is the toughest part of being a student-athlete? Balancing school, football, and a job. I usually have little to no free time, and it makes it difficult to do some things outside of football or school. What type of defensive lineman is the toughest for you to go up against? Quick defensive linemen are usually a little more difficult for me to go up against. Mainly because of the way we do our pass steps, it makes it difficult to block those kinds of guys. With this being your final go-around for Conner, how important is it for you personally to go out with a winning season? It’s really important to me. I haven’t experienced a full-winning season yet in all my years of playing football, so going out with a bang is definitely one of my main goals this season. Last year, you shared with the readers that you had an offer from Eastern Kentucks and had heard from several other schools. Could you update everyone on how the recruiting is going for you, as far as whether you have landed any more offers and if there are any new teams expressing interest in you? Since then, I have earned 4 offers, those schools being Troy, Eastern Michigan, Army West Point, and Air- Force Academy. Louisville has been showing a lot of interest, as have other schools like Cornell, Columbia, Western Michigan, and Ohio University. Have you ever been to a Reds or Bengals game? Yes, I have been to both. What scares you? Not being able to fulfill my dreams of going to the NFL. What is a talent you have that would take those you know by surprise? I can do the splits. 4. Max Merz Highlands High School Guard 2026 What were your personal goals heading into the 2023 season, and were you able to achieve those goals? My personal goals were to start varsity and be the most dominant player on the field. I achieved this by starting varsity, but personally, I could have been more dominant in some games. What were the goals you had set for your team, and did the team achieve those goals? Our goal was to win a state championship, but we fell short, losing in the 4th round. Who was the best player you faced during the 2023 season, along with the team he played for? The best player I went against was Austin Alexander from Cooper. He was the best player because he was an all-around great player and very fast. Who was the best team that Highlands faced during the 2023 season, and why do you believe they were so good? The best team we played this year was Cooper because we played them twice and we got into a high-scoring battle, then in the second game they made some good adjustments and got the best of us. What are you going to miss the most from the 2024 class? In the brotherhood that I had with all of my seniors, I got super close to some of them, and it hurts to watch them go. Which road game did you enjoy the most last season? Lexington Catholic because it was the first game of the season, the atmosphere was amazing, and we got into a 48-minute dog fight. Which road game last season was the least enjoyable, along with the reason why? Raceland because it was a 3-hour bus drive away, it was a smaller school, and there were barely any of our fans there due to the distance. What is the toughest part of playing on the offensive line? Lining up against someone who is faster than you and you struggle to get hands on to use your strength to stop their speed What is the best part of playing on the offensive line? Getting to hit someone every single play and knowing that you're the reason that the plays can be successful What do you feel you need to improve on the most to be a better all-around player? Be faster and keep my head back and off of people in pass protection. You are already turning some college coaches heads. Would you name some of the schools that have shown interest in you? I have offers from Toledo, EKU, and Marshall and am receiving interest from the UK, Louisville, and others. What is the toughest weather for you to play in? The 4th round of the playoffs was very cold and windy, and I had never had to play in any weather like that. What is the one food you refuse to eat? Beans because I don’t like the consistency. Have you ever been to a Bengals game? Yes, I went to the Steelers home game last year. What is one sport you wish you could play but lack the talent to do so? Basketball, I’m not good enough.
