  1. This was a wild factoid. I would have never guessed it.
  2. Certainly sounded from Larry Vaught's article that Woods was pretty content to be retired, stay in Wayne County, and go watch Tennessee basketball. I can't see him going to another school, but if I had an opening I would most definitely call him.
  3. Which is funny after he spent two decades at South Laurel and a little time at Southwestern he's become something of a mercenary ever since.
  4. Was there wiggle room on the contract? I think Lincoln was originally scheduled to play Lafayette last season but something came up and they added Scott County pretty last-minute. I'll assume it was a 2-year deal but someone more in the know can maybe confirm.
  5. Put an advertisement on a uniform, add a couple teams to the playoffs, tell Shohei he's fine, call it a day!
  6. Add in a very winnable district (two of the other three schools are very small), a proximity to central Kentucky that might promote growth (something no other region school except Estill County can claim), and a solid basketball history (28 district titles and 2 state tournament appearances) and this is definitely a good job in the 14th Region.
  7. The article: https://www.yoursportsedge.com/2024/03/28/first-year-wayne-county-superintendent-fires-rodney-woods/vaughts-views/larryvaught/
  8. Honestly, every lyric from that song works on this situation!
  9. From last summer, the last paragraph in the article linked below. Clearly some bad blood between multiple parties in Monticello... The meeting was quickly adjourned with security officers clearing the board room during some heated verbal exchanges at the conclusion. Neal’s contract begins on August 1, 2023. Neal served the district for many years including as teacher, principal, and director of transportation. https://z93country.com/archives/354169/local-news/
  10. Wasn't it middle of the night which would have limited the amount of traffic, too.
  11. I assume one is Bruiser Flint, who seems to sit sideways on the bench and never say a word. I wonder who the other is? Maybe Chuck Martin, who came from Oregon?
  12. I'm over 40 years old and every conversation I've ever had with anyone about this has always said "it will happen in 7-10 years." It still hasn't happened, but a lot of 7-10 year ranges have come and gone! 😂
  13. Someone smarter about this than me can probably answer it better but Danville is larger than those schools listed. They still have right at 500 kids in the high school. Their tax base is still solid, although all the suburban land has been gobbled up by the Boyle County district over the last two decades. I think consolidation could happen but I'm not sure how imminent.
  14. I went to a Transy game this season and during a media timeout the PA man announced the camp for this summer. He then said it had been around for however-many years and asked anyone in the audience who had ever attended the camp to stand up. I'd say over half the gym stood up!
