So I made my way back to Smoke Justis in Covington today with hopes that this time they hadn't already ran out of burgers, and hurray... mission was accomplished! Their offering was the Federal Burger (a 1/2 lb bacon cheeseburger w/garden and saratoga chips) named after the league that the Covington Blue Sox played in in 1913 from early May to late June before selling the team to the Kansas City Packers due to low attendance related to the...

Maybe it's just me, but if someone had killed my ex-wife and her friend, and I hadn't done it, but I was considered a person of interest, and was wanted for questioning, the last thing that I would do is lead the police on a long pursuit in my white Ford Bronco SUV rather than cooperate to do whatever I could to both clear my name, and to help speed up the investigation into who actually did kill them. That never passed the smell test for me...

Though not on the list of participating restaurants, Boswell's Alley on Blue Rock in Northside has an outstanding 1/2 pound burger w/garden and chips starting at $6.50, or a 1/3 pound starting at $4.95, and $.50 for add-ons such as cheese, mushrooms etc. When they say 1/2 pound they mean it , and boy it sure is tasty. When a lot of places have inched their prices up to around $10, here a real good sized delicious mushroom and swiss burger is...

Thank you for this article. It kinda supports the focus on this incident that I was aiming for, where I got the impression that some others weren't too keen on where I was coming from.

I love hot dogs don't get me wrong, but I'm committed to avoiding processed meats (colon cancer survivor), but if I knew of a healthy hot dog out there I sure wouldn't mind trying it. When I did indulge in the past I liked mine with a nice wiggly stripe of mustard all up and down it. and I like it with grill marks to the point there's a bit (but not too much) of a crunch along with a smokey grilled flavor.

I just logged in at your prompting for the first time in a couple of weeks, and the good news is that there are now shows listed, the bad news is that none of them are local. The closest shows are 8 in Indy, and 6 in Louisville, but none that I'd travel out of town for. :(

Considering the thread topic, this is probably too much info with a lot of it not being "flag" specific, but what might one expect from me? :lol2: I live in an apartment that is very much out of the view of the public eye, so any symbolism that I have on display is only seen by me, or any guests who might drop by. I have a rainbow flag, as well as accents of stars and stripes type symbolism in various spots around my apartment. There...

I used this particular case as it involved an Arabic officer, when initially most weren't aware of that, and to challenge folks to ask themselves how they initially viewed the circumstances versus how they viewed them when more specifics came to light, and why. Personally I don't lean one way or another regarding police officers either White, Black, Asian, Arabic, Native American et al in these such cases because in some situations their...

Some of you may recall that a couple of years ago Ticketmaster announced that a settlement had been reached in the Schlesinger v. Ticketmaster class action lawsuit, and that concert goers who had made past purchases would be granted discounted, and free vouchers that could be used up until the year 2020. Initially hundreds of shows were available, many nowhere nearby, and of those that were, many of them here locally were Bogarts shows that...

No shame in that... If I had free tickets to see Nickelback I'd go... Whereas I've never considered them anywhere near my favorite band, I never fell into the camp that so vehemently hated them either. I pretty much considered that over-the-top hatred to be folks getting caught up in a social trend that had very little legitimate basis other than their tunes being played to death on the radio, which could easily be said about a lot of...

Probably to challenge people to take a look at how they might let stereotypes dictate their perspective. No one suggested initially what the races were of the involved, and with that I'm assuming that some might've had a picture in their minds of the circumstances, and I'm guessing that when they learned that it was a white woman, and an Arab of Somalian decent (dare I say likely a Muslim without !00% proof), that potentially some might've...

I was originally being questioned if we knew that he was for certain a Muslim because in a previous post I had stated that he was when in truth I cannot be 100% certain of that, so in this post that you are here replying to, that I whole hearted agree with you that he likely is, I left it unanswered considering I indeed don't know for sure, and that was the corner that I had a hunch I was being pushed into instead of folks considering the bigger...

Fair point. Somalia is 99.9% Islam, and 0.1% other... Of course these percentages offer no concrete evidence that his parents raised him here in the states as such (and let me be clear that I have absolutely no problem with that if they had), so until we actually hear for certain, we won't know for certain, but my post was more so related to how easily some can see one thing one way, but if the cast of player's race is different they can...

I haven't found anything specifically stating that Officer Mohamed Noor is a Muslim, yet he was raised in the states by parents native to Somali. The name Mohamed is Arabic, and a variant of Mohammad, founder of the Islamic religion. So far I can only assume that he was raised a Muslim, but still I suppose that would also be like thinking that anyone named Matthew, Mark, Luke, or John is a Christian, which isn't always the case, so I can't...

9 year old Angelica Hale just got the gold button singing Alicia Key's - "This Girl is on Fire" and I have to say that she really deserved it. This little girl has an incredibly powerful singing voice, and nails her songs with total control and poise, and with a tone much more mature than her years. This video is of her first audition performance with her singing Andra Day's "Rise Up". When her performance of "This Girl is on Fire"...

What point do you think that I was trying to make? I indeed WAS saying that race shouldn't matter, and that wrong is wrong... However there's no doubt in my mind that some white folks would question/doubt the early reports if they thought that it was a white cop, and a black woman. Some would conclude that there must be something "more to the story", and that the black woman must've done something to escalate the situation, however...

Why do I get the impression that when people come to learn that the victim was a pretty Australian blonde who was engaged to be married to a nice clean cut guy, and that the cop who shot her was Somali-American officer named Mohamed Noor, and not what their minds might’ve instantly conjured up about the races of the victim and the cop, that they’ll instantly be able to recognize how wrong this was, and unfortunately not because it was indeed...
