Just about every good 70's band that tried to remain relevant by conforming to the 80's MTV era pretty much cheese balled me out except for maybe a few bands like Yes. They abandoned what they did best, and commercially pop-polished themselves up. Nothing wrong with the 80's sound as many great bands established themselves in that era, and I understand how some bands wanted to change with the times, but it was embarrassing to watch bands...

As a Catholic grade school student in the 70's we were obligated to attend Mass daily, and in my 8 years of that experience I witnessed very few children throughout the entire school who ever showed much interest, whereas the majority pretty much groaned that it was a dreaded chore, and an even lesser amount of those kids could be spotted attending the "you're going straight to hell if you miss the Sunday obligated Mass". I attended every Sunday...

Just as always young children can be indoctrinated to believe in just about anything, and many college age kids begin to question things more deeply, however it does appear that whereas in the past people were more inclined to hold onto religious beliefs into adulthood, a newer generation may be quicker to question the validity of what their elders pass off as factual while earlier recognizing with more clarity that these beliefs are unprovable....

My Dad was born in 1919, and one of the phrases that he used when either someone made an inaccurate comment, or was trying to pass off nonsense as fact was... "Your rear is full of blue mud" .... which of course is another way of saying... "You're full of it", or other various ways to say that phrase... Throughout my life I had never heard one other person say it the way my Dad did, nor did I ever know its origins or think to ask,...

I can't answer your initial question, and my apologies if I'm misreading this as a green light for an open discussion regarding ISIS, but I found this to be an interesting read. Hard to swallow if accurate. Admittedly I'm lacking in my knowledge of foreign affairs regarding all of the complexities of the Middle East to be able to determine if it's completely on point, or rather just a misleading analysis. The writer of the piece, a...

Wow 12-15 years, he was in deep, wasn't he? I feel sorry for you and him. No doubt in my mind that he has suffered withdrawal, and still might to some degree. That's a lot of years to get all of that programming out of your system. I'm sure that win or lose, good or bad, he'd tell you that he learned a lot from his experience, and without throwing the baby out with the bath water, there truly are things about success principals that can...

Glad the show was good, and I get where you're coming from on IronTom. Seems like the band is solid from the videos, but the lead singer looks out of place and hard to watch. IMO they'd do better to find a lead dude who didn't come off as so amateurish, forgettable, and cringe worthy.

Looks like the two main dudes of Motherfolk are Maysville natives and Mason County graduates with the remaining bandmates from the NKY/Cincy area who've toured their sound around the country and are getting noticed. Here's a video with live footage from the Bunbury Festival at Sawyer Point, and also on Fountain Square.

How long was your brother involved with it, and about how long ago was this? I've no doubt that the premise is now essentially the same as it was when I was in it 25 years ago with some changes with the arrival of the internet. Was he seriously ate up with it, and if so did he experience any psychological withdrawal when he quit? After being so wrapped up where it becomes people's lives and they're fully brainwashed, they tend to suffer with...

They do indeed very much mislead up front, starting while prospecting you with rehearsed out-of-the-blue casual so-called regular friendly in passing conversation while inflating your ego, and slipping in little hints that they're an entrepreneur into some profitable projects with other professionals, while putting you at ease with topics of common interests with hopes that you divulge things about yourself as if you're both establishing some...

I was going to respond to The Professor in another thread, but before I knew it, just like always, I had WAY too much to say, and thought that I'd start another thread just for kicks to see if anyone else has ever had any involvement with Amway, be it yourself, or friends or family members that you closely know who have had their experiences with it. Though I would never do anything like that ever again, I must admit that I find the topic...

I noticed that Torrent Falls Rock Climbing Adventure is the second spot highlighted on your map. Many many years ago I was in Amway for a year, and a guy and his wife Mark & Kathy Meyer were in my upline, and the ones that 'trained" me the most. I've not been in touch with them since I quit sometime in the early 90's, but by searching for them online I discovered that they are the ones who operate the Torrent Falls R.C.A. along with...

I've been wondering myself too just how long this spinoff can last before it fizzles out. I hope that it works, but can see where it might not. One thing to consider though is that with this boy being 9 the writers do have room to work while watching him grow up and go off to college. I'm assuming that much of the material can spawn from the various things Sheldon had ever mentioned about his childhood, yet they're going to have to prove...

I don't drink that much anymore, but will occasionally get a hankering for a beer. Being diabetic I always order a lite beer, and while just about anyone of them would do, typically when I'm at a bar I'll ask for a Miller Lite because they'll undoubtedly have it, yet if I want to go with even less carbs I'll go for a Michelob Ultra.

You ain't lyin'... After years of smoking pot without issue I was told about this "spice" stuff that I could easily purchase legally at a tobacco shop near the University of Cincinnati that was "just like pot", but didn't show up in drug testings. I started out with a low strength brand that initially seemed to kinda-sorta work alright, but within a couple of weeks had very little effect on me, so little by little I kept graduating up the...

When the trailer got to the part where Sheldon is talking one on one with his Dad, the singer of the background song felt familiar, and it took me a few minutes before I realized that I had seen this fine folk outfit "Ivan & Alyosha" back in June of 2011 in the upstairs parlor of the old Southgate House in Newport for an intimate show. They were goose bumpy good with their harmonies and instantly accessible, sometimes Beatlesque melodies...

As a BBT fanatic I'm looking forward to this, and I really hope it flies. If anyone recalls the one episode way back in one of the earlier seasons where Sheldon's attractive twin sister visits, and all the other guys fumble around hoping to get her attention, she had a Texan accent that the little girl playing his twin sister in Young Sheldon nails. From the trailer it looks like they paid close attention to really making it sound...

One more connection that I just came across is that the lead guitarist Zach Irons for "IRONTOM" just happens to be opener Jack Irons' son who learned how to play guitar from long time former RHCP guitarist great John Frusciante. I had never heard of any of the warmups before, but it's kinda cool to connect the dots, and to find that all three acts are somehow connected. My OCD wouldn't allow me to go without mentioning this to you once...

If I get to choose from a variety of places, and don't have to eat at the same fast food joint everyday, and I have the option to select their more healthier offerings when I'm not craving their junkier ones, then I'm taking the daily fast food meal. Because we need food to survive, and it adds up to a huge daily part of our monetary outgo, I'm going with having 1/3 of my daily food consumption covered by a free meal everyday, no question...
