This week provided one of the rarest sights in 4A this season – almost every single team in the top ten won. Nine teams out of the top ten won their games, many of them handily. Only two games featured margins of less than ten points, and that came in spots 9 & 10. It’s a seldom-seen week of breathing easily for the favorites of 4A. With that, we’ll begin with the close games. #9 Allen County-Scottsville began the year on a tear, crushing...

1989 Warren Central and 1990 Warren Central weren't the best in the state, but they were awfully good. 1990 in particular with Damon Hood going on to win Mr. Football. They had the misfortune of butting heads with Trinity in the midst of their state record streak. Just unfortunate timing.

Not entirely true. They got over the Bowling Green hump in 2009 and then ran into the Highlands buzzsaw. In 2008 they didn't even have to see Bowling Green, losing to Christian County instead.... who then were rocked by Highlands. The reality is that none of those teams 2007-2010 were going to beat Highlands. Now, 2011-2013, I wholeheartedly agree. As Hardin County Preps noted, 2012 in particular. They had that one. They really could have...

I think the issue for Christian County is that they will almost certainly have to go through both South Warren and Bowling Green to win it. Whoever wins District 1 will only have to go through one of them. As P88 mentioned, they do get an advantage in playing at home and in having one week of an easy game, while both the first round games for the other two are expected to be more difficult - though quite manageable.

If Allen County-Scottsville dusts up Warren Central quickly, I hope to make it to the second half of this one.

Pretty much. Or, in true Kentucky narrative, Kentucky leads the game by two TDs going into the fourth, before UT makes a miraculous comeback due to two TDs where receivers were totally uncovered......

Apollo clinched their first winning season since 2009. Their highest win total since then was 3. They also sealed up their first home playoff game since 2005, and their first one in the opening round since 2004. A pretty good haul in addition to their first win over Owensboro in 13 years.

Allen County could not have picked a worse time to have one of their worst games of the year. Offensively, nothing worked. East deserves the lion's share of the credit for that, but ACS didn't help themselves with drops, an unforced fumble, etc. Offensive line was porous and could not stop the blitz. Defense had to stand on its head most of the night. East is a tough team to figure all the way out.

Because why wouldn't they lose to someone they shouldn't in a year my favorite team can't take any advantage of it.... My sincere hope is that NC State can pull off the Atlantic division win. Anyone but Clemson.

There's no doubt, although crazily enough I still see some fans complaining about them, which I think reflects a total lack of understanding of where they were and are now. If some teams around these parts would have scheduled them - looking at you Barren County - they almost certainly would have wins this season. It's a real shame that they're facing the reality of no wins this year and maybe not next year either.

The US has made every World Cup since the first time I kicked a soccer ball. I look forward to it every four years. I can not believe they allowed Trinidad to derail them.

There has been chatter about this for months and months. If it was going to amount to anything, it would have done so long ago. I will say that it has been a pretty open secret that they were being investigated. Perhaps none of the BG officials were ever officially notified - though I'm fairly certain I recall being told they had been - but they knew it was being looked at.

As we head into the last couple of weeks of district play, it is a good time to reset our district races, and begin projecting where we’ll end up at the start of November. District 1 Logan County pulled off what most would consider an upset when they took down Hopkinsville 13-12 on the final play of the game in Russellville on Thursday night. It extended Logan County’s winning streak to eight straight games, still almost unfathomable after...

It’s just a discussion, I recognize everyone has their opinions, just expressing mine as well. Don’t let it discourage you, opinions and discourse is what this thread is here for. You are correct that it is really difficult to rank them beyond 3. But I do feel as if Ashland, Franklin-Simpson, and Rockcastle County have established themselves as safe picks in that next tier. It becomes more chaotic beyond that. But it just seems clear that...

Franklin-Simpson has three losses. One was to Elizabethtown, the #4 team in 3A. One was to South Warren, the #4 team in 5A. The other was to Meade County, a fringe 6A top ten team. That last one is quite important, being that Franklin-Simpson lost to Meade by three. Shelby County lost to them by 45. I don't know how Franklin-Simpson let you down more than Shelby. Franklin-Simpson didn't lose to an unranked team by 27 either. Objectively,...

Rebels over Hawks (Guns) Knights over Wolverines (Close one, but the armor helps the Knights overcome) Pirates over Rebels (Pirates are just more vicious) Yellowjackets over Panthers (Just too many of them) Knights over Redhounds (Not even as close as the Wolverines) Rebels over Tigers (Guns) Pirates over Yellowjackets (Pirates are human, they know about pest control) Rebels over Knights (Armor runs out against guns)

This week had our lowest average score all season, at 7.62 points per entry. That makes HSfootballfan18's perfect score all the more impressive! Three weeks left!
