Stop. They have Wake Forest and Navy at home. No doubt they've got two tough games left in Miami and Stanford, but... come on.

Citaaaaaaay!! Louisville wins 4-0 over Bethlehem to advance to the East semis. Tarek Morad (2), Luke Spencer, and Bryan Ownby all register goals. On the other side, the No. 1 seed is OUT. Real Monarchs SLC loston penalties to Sacramento Republic FC following a 1-1 draw. Tonight's games should be really great, especially Cincinnati's visit to Tampa Bay, which to my mind, is the game of the weekend.

Craziest thing I never knew about the game until recently, substitution wasn't allowed at all until 1958! Until 60 years ago, if one of your players was hurt, you just played with 10 the rest of the way. It wasn't until 10 years after that that teams could use a sub for tactical, non-injury reasons.

Yeah. Like Bryan, Jason Aldean... there are others I only know by sound and not name. It's... not good.

PKs are the flukiest weird thing in soccer. I don't like them as a way of deciding games... but come the playoffs, when you absolutely need a winner... I've yet to come across a better idea for how to ensure someone moves on.

It's not whether we think the cause is just. It's whether the cause for which he was terminated fits the definitions of cause for which the university and Jurich already contracted. That term is defined and that definition must be met or Jurich may be entitled to some compensation.

Not only do they not need to, if I was university legal counsel, I'd have advised against saying anything at all. I'm curious to know what they're throwing around as "cause". Like Pitino's contract, Jurich's is pretty specific about what constitutes cause.

Only three Trustees spoke during the discussion phase of this vote, the three that voted to retain him. None of the trustees voting for termination have explained their votes at this time.

Couldn't be happier than only two MLS reserve teams made the playoffs in each conference -- and in the East they barely snuck in at the 7 and 8 seeds. Good work, independents. That's a great year in the East.

Collusion? The whole NFL model is collusion. It's WWE masquerading as competition. If you finish with the worst record, you're REWARDED with the top draft pick. The draft itself is collusion among owners to set wages. The cap is collusion among owners to set wages. The only reason they get away with any of it is because the players' union is in on the game. I don't know if they'll find collusion here (he could easily be blackballed without...

As UofL athletics crumbles under the weight of its sins, I'm thankful to have a pro sport in town that seems to be well-run and gives me something to do on weekends. Louisville City FC won its regular-season finale last night, beating Richmond Kickers 3-1. Lou City now waits for the result of a game this afternoon to determine whether it will host Bethlehem Steel FC or New York Red Bulls II in Friday's Eastern Conference Quarterfinal at...

It's all gone wrong. We had the "Year of the Cardinal" in 2013: won the Sugar Bowl, won a National Championship, Rick Pitino was inducted into the Hall of Fame, we counted down the days until we were joining the ACC. Our arrogance grew at a rate so alarming that we should have been able to sense it happening. This is the punishment the gods have seen fit to visit upon us for our hubris. I see no end in sight. We are utterly at their mercy.

Heck, the AAU kicked out Nebraska a few years ago because too much of their research funding was coming from the Department of Agriculture. This should be massively embarrassing to an origination that far up its own backside. In the end, I'm sure any number of AAU schools have bogus classes that they don't want coming into the limelight either, so best to just pretend it's not there.

I think that's probably genuine. I think the NCAA has far too often let its reach exceed its grasp. The real problem is that the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and the Association of American Universities has had almost nothing to say about these bogus classes affecting UNC's accreditation.

There's a reason criminal defense attorneys use delay tactics and obfuscation; they're hoping the time will kill the drive to prosecute and that something weird will happen in the interim that they can take advantage of. UNC nailed this. Do not cooperate. Do not engage. Resist, deny, obstruct. Wait for a more pressing issue to draw their attention and "Wham". Get wag of the finger.
