Do you know the actual plot of land out there that the team is looking at? I'm curious to see how it fits in. As far as I can recall, if they're putting in where that area of commercial development is, there's basically one road that goes to I-71 or you're trying to weave your way out through Hyde Park or heading East going down Madison Rd. Not great.

Koch made some strange decisions this year, but the guy took Vancouver Whitecaps 2 to the USL Cup Final two years ago so he must know how to do something.

Welp, one more for Lou City. Apparently Midfielder Brian Ownby is signed through next season as well. Wasn't inked until the press release was already going out. So that's 16 of the 20 players from this season already contracted to return. That's pretty solid work from the front office at LCFC in a league known for an insane amount of annual turnover.

Louisville City just announced that 15 players from this year's USL-Cup-winning squad will return for the 2018 season: Goalkeepers Greg Ranjitsingh, Tim Dobrolowski; Defenders Sean Totsch, Kyle Smith, Paco Craig; Midfielders Mark-Anthony Kaye, Richard Ballard, George Davis IV, Paolo DelPiccolo, Devon “Speedy” Williams, Oscar Jimenez, Niall McCabe; Forwards Luke Spencer, Ilija Ilic, Cameron Lancaster. FC Cincinnati wasting no time in the offseason player market. They've signed two defenders already (a sore need for FCC outside of Delbridge) one from Ireland and one from Israel -- the latter of whom is really highly regarded from what I've read. FCC and Koch trying not to get caught watching on defense like they did so many times this past season.

My experience has not been that most people want to "discuss" religion. They want to tell you what they believe and are not particularly interested in actually discussing anything. They don't even want to have an argument, as argument itself implies listening to the other side and responding. Can't even get that. I love talking politics and religion. To my mind they're the only things really worth talking about with any seriousness. Yet...

This was a pretty fun article. For the TL;DR folks, here's a summary: FC Cincinnati has done something amazing; they've done it without MLS; MLS isn't that great; what they're doing to Columbus they can do to you; FC Cincinnati doesn't need MLS. Hartman: The FC Cincinnati-MLS saga is outrageously stupid

North Carolina FC (terrible name) has made it official. The Raliegh-based squad has left NASL and will start play in USL next year.

Considering there were 2.6 billion votes cast, that could easily be a flip of just one or two large stakeholders.

Ugh. Was very relieved when he looked to have lost his bid for a seat last month. So it goes. I agree with UKMF that this isn't good for Greater Cincinnati. This guy is here to drive up the stock price. Long-term consequences are not on his agenda.

I'm not really an early decorator. If anything, I'm a late dissembler. Decorations go up some time the week following Thanksgiving. Most of them come down right after the Epiphany. A select group stay on display until February.

Agreed. I'd probably get suspended for the kinds of things I'd type if I got going about the way they're steamrolling the supporters in Columbus right now.

Like everything with MLS, it's a rule right up until it's not. They'll make exceptions when they feel like it (we want Manchester City's ownership group to be in the league so NYCFC can play at Yankee Stadium). Those exceptions definitely tend to favor the biggest markets and most powerful owners.

Plus preseason, any scheduled friendlies, and potential US Open Cup and playoff home games. Still not a ton without other events to supplement venue income.

Lots of news out already. Post interesting stuff here about big league news, player moves, and new info. First up: a day after the season ended, the league formally announced that teams would start USL play in Memphis and Atlanta in 2019. Atlanta's team will actually play in Gwinett and be the reserve side for MLS' Atlanta United. Memphis is an independent team with independent ownership. Don't know much else yet.

I enjoyed it. Lots of the young guys played. Weston McKenney of the Bundesliga's Schalke 04 scored his first goal for the USA. Tyler Adams played. Dom Dwyer played. Kellyn Acosta played. Cameron Carter Vickers and Matt Miazga played together at centerback for the first time since the U-20 World Cup two years ago. I liked seeing all the young guys out there.

They might, but every road game is a potential land mine in the ACC and there are going to be a lot of good teams.

The Crew situation is unique as a possible move to Austin was literally written into the deal when Precourt bought the team. They're also steamrolling the USL team scheduled to start play in Austin next season to do it. Things like that make me wonder how much longer this MLS/USL partnership has in it. It's been mutually beneficial to this point but I think some folks at the main office are starting to see it more one-sided than they'd like.

Well there's going to have to be infrastructure work wherever it ends up. Even if it's out in Oakley they're going to have to completely redo all the utilities heading to that plot of land and enhance the roads. I imagine that trouble with financing help from the city is at the root of the Newport concept?

I agree. At this point, I think MLS knows where those next two are going, but if they can have a stadium deal secured before the formal announcements, Cincinnati will be hard to turn down. Selfishly want Cincy to stay in USL but they're solid choice and can't imagine that if they get left out of this round, they don't ultimately make it in the next one.

It's a good move. Basically what Louisville City did. Promise to build the stadium yourselves and it's an easier sell to city council members to get taxpayer help for the necessary infrastructure enhancements and help with securing the actual property.

McCabe wasn't on the field but I think it was him that grabbed hold of the ball and rolled it away from the field and got tossed out of the game from the bench in extra time. After the goal the tide definitely turned on the time wasting as SPR had a player going down roughly every three minutes when they were trying to push the game to extra time. I think between the 70th and 80th minutes there might have been four actual minutes of soccer...

I can barely talk. That was unreal. 88th minute header by the substitute forward, Cameron Lancaster, a guy who's been with the team since year one. Then that referee made us endure 7:45 of stoppage time before he finally blew the whistle. Amazing night. Amazing season.

Louisville defense is worlds different with Drew Bailey, Trevon Young, and Jaire Alexander all healthy. Much better from them. This team can still end up 8-4 and move into a better class of bowl game. Maybe not the type of game that a once-in-a-generation player like Jackson deserves, but I'm looking forward to the last couple games in a way I wasn't at any point during the last month.
