So Lackey plunks three guys in an inning, announcer says he hopes one comes back at him to see how he likes it, and this is something we're worried about?

Love him coming off the bench late when we need a goal. Will be a real weapon next summer. I thought Jordan Morris had his best game in a while. Was unlucky not to score, putting that one off the post just moments into the game.

Jamaica 1, Mexico 0 USA-Mexico would have been fun as always, but that's just great. USA played its best game of the tournament in the semifinals against CRC and will be heavy favorites in Wednesday night's final.

Peak TV is different from the Golden Age for the exact reason you describe: too many decent things on the air. I watch a fair amount of television and yet I've never seen one episode of Better Call Saul or The Americans. I think the saturation has actually diminished the era. When one program at a time on HBO, AMC, FX, and the occasional network were what there was to follow, it was possible to actually watch every great show on the air...

Game of Thrones is definitely a child of that era. It has a lot of the features shared by the shows of the Golden Age. But there were lots of good shows before the Golden Age. There are lots of good shows now. I don't think it changes the fact that the Age is over, replaced by "Peak TV".

Best era of TV ever began in the early part of the 2000s with The Sopranos. I didn't make up the term "Golden Age" to describe those years, lots of others did. Started with the Sopranos in 1999. Ended with the final season of Breaking Bad, in my opinion.

Yes. Merely pointing out that FCC has a fantastic financial situation that most teams in this league would kill for. The stadium situation -- through the Lindner family's relationship with UC -- begets lots of other advantages, not the least of which is that people want to come back and see more games in an exciting, action-filled environment with good sight lines and an entertaining product. FCC is now carrying a 28-player roster...

The Sopranos is probably one of the five best shows in the history of television. It kicked off the Golden Age of television and is brilliant from start to finish. The acting is great. The writing is great. The direction is great. Easy call for me. Watch The Sopranos.

I would be very surprised if I ever found out I watched more than an average of 30 minutes of televised news per week. It just doesn't interest me.

I like where things are headed going in to this season. I didn't think a whole lot of the last season but can understand it as a series of stories to set up the stretch run. Looking forward to diving back in.

I don't know how many "analysts" I even know. I definitely have writers I enjoy when it comes to politics, but they tend to be journalists rather than analysts.

Finally able to finish it this afternoon. It was a fascinating piece of journalism and philosophy that Arendt wove together. It made me want to dive into more of her work. To begin, it's easy to understand the firestorm it caused when it was first published in 1962. Using the word "banality" in the title to describe a Nazi war criminal was probably enough on its own to send people into a rage. But that's what it was. The depths of the...

Well it looks like they're going to send him back to Kansas City. Can't say as that I understand all the changes, but I'm sure that since this is an off year for the Gold Cup, Arena was under some pressure from MLS sides to get a few of these guys back to their teams.

Remarkable response. Why would I be referring to a dead guy? Of course I'm talking about the FCC owner. It's a great benefit to the team to have that kind of money to work with. His relationships in the local community, including the longtime one with UC, has been of great benefit to the team and it's a fantastic thing to have. Good for you.

To start with the easiest answer first, UofL's soccer stadium only holds about 5,000 people. It's just way to small for Lou City's needs. Papa John's Cardinal Stadium has the opposite problem. It holds nearly 60,000 people now and will hold well more than that when the expansion is finished next year. And with seat back chairs instead of bleachers, it is cavernous. I've been to numerous high school games with well over 20k in attendance and...

Well won by FCC. Thought Louisville deserved better but Cincinnati capitalized on all their chances. Louisville did not. That first FCC goal was particularly frustrating as a serious mistake by Louisville's keeper. Congratulations on all your attendance success. It will get you into MLS. Be careful what you wish for.

According to Ives Galarcep, Altidore, Dempsey, Nagbe, Bradley, and Tim Howard have all joined the team and will be formally added to the roster for the Gold Cup knockout stage that starts next week. While I appreciate what Altidore and Dempsey can do, forward hasn't been a huge problem for me so far, with Dwyer and Morris both having capable games. Bradley and Nagbe, however, are sorely needed as the US midfield is a complete mess.

About five hours from kickoff in Louisville. I'm ready to roll. Listened to the Cincy Soccer Talk podcast this morning with a preview of today's game. Sounds like the staff was putting a lot on this game as several of the regular starters didn't even make the trip to Miami on Wednesday. Louisville is trying to keep pace with Charleston on top of the East and Cincinnati is trying to work their way back into the hunt. Should be a really...

Martinique isn't necessarily slouch. That forward that caused problems all night, Langil, plays in the Belgian league and might be the fastest dude in this whole tournament.

I can't argue with that, but these guys looked insanely disjointed. What on earth is Omar Gonzalez doing back along that line? He is constantly too far back to make the offside trap work. He's a starter for the team that won the Liga MX title last year. I know he knows how to do this stuff. Just one of a number of guys who didn't appear to have any clue what to do last night.

Also worth noting that a lot of the people who work in local government here were in local government back when the Fairness Ordinance was passed back in what, 1995? That was a big moment for progressives in town. Can't imagine there were many other cities around this region that did the same thing that early. They really hate the idea of anything that has even the appearance of rolling back that legacy.

When we want to sound like snobs, sure. It was a particularly foolish thing to say for someone who has greater political ambitions than being on Louisville Metro Council, though that kind of attitude is one reason why I didn't vote for him in the primary. I understand where the Louisville mayor is coming from on this. As the guy who is basically the embodiment of "Chamber of Commerce Democrat", part of his responsibility is to protect the...
