As a younger man I probably would have thought the idea was ridiculous. Now that I’m a transplant to a new city that has teams I’ve never actively supported before, I get how it happens. I’ll probably never be a full on Bengals fan and I’d rather be dead than cheer for FC Cincinnati, but I find myself reading every single Reds story in the Enquirer. Have been a fan of the Twins since I was a little kid, but I envision myself signing on for...

I saw them drop their season opener at home to Buffalo. I agree, the Mountaineers aren’t quite there, but this is a solid early win for the Toppers.

If Louisville is “expecting” anything involving titles, then there isn’t a single coach out there that’s going to satisfy those folks. UofL should have high expectations about competing, but any talk of titles is, in my opinion, just this side of complete nonsense.

Should Brohm have lost so badly to Minnesota? No, but should he have beaten Ohio State the way he did? Also no. One game either way doesn’t tell the story of what a coach is building. So much of putting together a college football program is building momentum on the field and turning that into recruiting momentum which feeds back into the on-field play. Brohm is already doing that. I thought I read somewhere that Hazell was bringing in...

In Strong’s second year, Louisville lost to Marshall and Florida International. Like Strong, Brohm is picking up the pieces after a period where the guy that was supposed to be driving the program basically steered it into the side of a mountain. I’m not concerned about the way Purdue is looking right now so much as I’m interested in the speed with which he’s made them competitive again.

I feel like he’s already in position to take a really solid SEC job if he wants it, which it seems he does, but I’d be a huge fan of bringing in Neal Brown. Don’t see Louisville as necessarily on his wish list.

My girlfriend’s family has a couple great recipes for a homemade sauce. The marinara is good... the Bolognese will knock your socks off. Making a meat sauce makes doctoring up store-bought sauce much easier. Add some Italian seasoning to the sauce, fry up some garlic and add that in there, carmelize some onions while browning the beef. It’s simple and fantastic.

His assistants did a nice job for a time, especially Cort Dennison, who built a lot of great relationships in Kentucky before going to Oregon. But Bobby’s greatest crime (at Louisville anyway) might be completely whiffing on what might be the biggest collection of talent to have ever come out of Jefferson County in a single year.

The board members have been pretty public that they worried about the finances. Suggests to me that Tyra did his groundwork on this before proceeding, but who knows?

Nope. Lorenzo Ward will be the interim coach for the final two games. So far, all I can see on the chopping block today are Bobby Petrino and the director of ops.

I don’t know how their new contract works now that games are on ESPN+. As far as I can tell, they still haven’t posted the conference finals from last week to YouTube. They do have the conference semifinals up. I know it’s still OnDemand on ESPN3 if you have a cable subscription.

I think I agree with this. He still lost those games to start this year which is why is record isn’t any better than it is. If he stays at Purdue and carries this success into next year at Purdue and does well again, his name will start appearing for the top jobs. He’s still a year away from being a really big name nationally.

It's hard taking a half-day to watch these guys. I'll be there on Saturday but I'm coming in from out of town to watch NC State hang 50 points on a defense that seems to have no interest in being on the field. I don't have any kids and work a job that grants me a lot of freedom with my schedule, which helps. It's a big ask for a lot of folks.

Game highlights on YouTube. Bit incomplete. Didn't include a ridiculous Brian Ownby solo dribble all the way from one end of the field to the other where he was tackled just before he could get a shot off. Didn't include a very late chance from Phoenix that went just wide. HIGHLIGHTS #USLCup | 11-8-18 - YouTube

Hopefully we’ll get some US Open Cup matches in the coming years but yeah, it won’t be the same. Playing Indy and St Louis will be great, but I’ll miss the heck out of the Dirty River Derby.

What a night! The game was won in the midfield with captain (and UofL alumnus) Paolo Del Piccolo having arguably his best game of the season. The guy completely dominated the ball wherever he was. Honestly, Louisville had more of the ball and the better chances and could’ve won by more. First team to win back to back USL titles. Only team besides Orlando City SC to win it twice at all.

Hype Level for tonight: 11 Louisville is hosting the USL Cup Final for the second consecutive year! With the forced move to Lynn Stadium instead of Slugger Field, the ~8,000 tickets available were gone in a matter of minutes. Absolute global legend Didier Drogba is playing his last professional match in Louisville, Kentucky in front of a few thousand people wearing purple. What a weird game this is sometimes. Scenarios are a pain. Presuming West Virginia, Oklahoma, and Texas all win out going into the final week, then if Oklahoma wins at WVU, then we get a rematch, but if WVU beats OU, then it's WVU vs. Texas again, right?

I’m without Deuce. Have to wait another three years for the buyout to drop and there are some other quality candidates out there. If I thought this even had a CHANCE of getting better and Brohm wasn’t in the cards, then it might be worth it, but recruits are defecting and somehow Petrino’s third defensive coordinator hire was even worse than his second. Genuinely didn’t think that was going to be possible.

My voice is shot. I LOATHE that team from New York. They basically spend the entire game falling down and crying to the ref. Just amazing. Couldn’t be happier that Louisville ground them into dust. Lost the league-leading scorer, Cameron Lancaster, 10 minutes into the game. Was on the sideline on a crutch at the end of the game. Not looking good for the final.

Shenanigans. This is about merit like getting a job after college at your dad's car dealership is about merit. The P5 has the entire thing stacked in their favor. If the P5 wanted this to be on merit, there would be no conference tie-ins at all and they wouldn't get to avoid scheduling good teams from the G5 and the playoff would have 16 teams in it, just to start.
