Very young head coach, may take an assignment or two to become totally effective, but if he has the passion for perfection that his dad possessed, he will reach that point.

That is what we call a "Good Problem", reflecting the success of the program. Realistically, you are correct, that scenario is brutal. No easy solution. If you play the Friday night game, depart soon thereafter, make the three hour trip to Owensboro, check in in the wee hours, get a few hours of sleep and hope you can get by Williamsburg, then rest and recover prior to your 8:30am game on Sunday Morning (7:30am EDT). Somehow Kevin Gray...

Congratulations also to the Tigers and best of luck in the "A" State. Junior Carter Noah was outstanding on the mound today, limiting the Mustangs to only two runs in the contest. The "A" State this year will be held at Chautaugua Park in Owensboro. The Tigers will play the winner of Williamsburg/Hazard in the 11am game on Saturday, April 27th.

Streaks should be something that happen, rather than something that you are held responsible for to produce. You form a team, practice, do your best, and at the end of the season look back and see what you did or did not accomplish. I doubt sincerely that this Colonels team got together one day, decided to underachieve in the eyes of their fans, and are simply going through the motion of playing games, with no regard to the storied tradition...

The Brossart Mustangs, Champions of the Region 10 All "A" Classic, will bring an 11-5 record to Fort Mitchell on Wednesday night at 5pm to take on Kevin Gray's perfect 16-0 Beechwood Tigers, 9th Region "A" Champions, in the 9th/10th Sectional Tournament. The winner advances to the "A" State Tournament, to be conducted this year at Chautauqua Park in Owensboro on April 27th and 28th. The Beechwood Tigers are the defending All "A" State...

He will be night and day from Cronin. Brannon strikes me more of a Xavier type coach. I expect a bit of a contrast of styles from what UC is used to. Best of luck to John.

Rising Star was the first "Tri-State" Casino which opened as Grand Victoria in 1996. Business was so good that you paid to board and that ticket was only good for a two or three hour "cruise session." The slots all took coins and there were no vouchers, requiring many time consuming "fills" and trips to the cashier, where lines could be long. They had an excellent buffet. Argosy Casino in Lawrenceburg put a dent into the business at...

Credibility, Accountability, Discipline and Success. A "been there, done that" coach who earned his team's respect and achieved results. The lunatics never ever ran Forrest Gregg's asylum. Give me Forrest Gregg to coach my football team and Lou Pinella to manage my baseball teams. We will be successful and represent well.

Chatting with the PC fans at our Brossart-Pendleton baseball game earlier this week, Brent is far and away the people's choice. He has ties to Pendleton where he was an assistant to Chad Simms, who they would bring back in a heartbeat were they able. I'd say Brent Sowder is the front-runner.

My comment was directed at his failure to run out the ground ball. This "brawl" incident came later. Puig, as a newcomer to the club, needs to learn his place and maintain a low profile and earn respect through performance. Obviously that's not going to happen. This wasn't his battle and he was totally out of place and out of control - our modern day Cincinnati Reds version of the Bengals Burfict.

I'm guessing Pete is not a Puig fan. Safe or not, Bell misses a big change by not pulling him out of the game right there. This guy is a slug! Bad news.

As I watched the play, double-dribble did not occur to me. In hindsight it certainly was. My question is, did at least one of the other two officials realize that it was double-dribble, but didn't call it because "it wasn't their call?" I suspect that one or both knew it was a double-dribble, and if so in a game of such magnitude should they have blown the whistle, regardless of whose call it was?

I'm doubting that they envisioned their star prospect having Tommy John prior to throwing his first pitch in the majors. My point is, Wouldn't we be better off drafting a more well-rounded prospect that could help the overall wellbeing of the ballclub NOW, rather than gamble on a kid that might end up a superstar, but that history says will end up on the DL list. Leave the gambling to the teams who are already strong enough to endure a...

I see that Hunter Green, who was going to lead us to the promised land, but has done nothing to date, is now scheduled for Tommy John surgery and is out for the season. I think we had all hoped that like Don Gullet we might get a couple of seasons out of him before he blew his arm out - Guess not!!! Another wasted first-round draft choice. This one on an 18 year old wunderkind.

Not being insensitive, but I'm not in a position at that time of day to be of assistance. I think each individual should have the option as to receive these alerts or not, or at least to silence them.

Jack Kaelin was one of the people who make CovCath what it is. Faithful and passionate to the core. I'm proud to have been associated all these many years and to be considered his friend. For years he also doubled as a mutuals clerk at Turfway Park. Jack wore the school motto and mission statement on his sleeve and bled CovCath blue. Another legend lost! With the passing of Jack Kaelin, I can't help but remember Scott Knochelman...

"Wanting to spend more time with the family" is the stock in trade answer when departing a program where: 1) The coach has been given the option of resigning or being fired. 2) The coach chooses to leave due to adverse conditions, the cupboard being bare, or that he was coaching under duress, but chooses not to burn bridges. 3) He is tired of the grind, wishes to take a step back, evaluate his situation, and become more of a family...
