The Alumni Norse players, and the Members of the 1995-96 and the 1996-97 NCAA D-II Runner-Up Norse were recognized at halftime. Coach Ken Shields drew a spontaneous standing ovation, despite the fact that he hasn't coached a game on the Highland Heights campus since 2004. I was sitting on the concourse conducting a Ken Shields Life Story book signing, and it was gratifying hearing the roar of the crowd emitting from what, only a few years...

Our immediate focus will be on winning the 10th Region "A" and getting back to Richmond. Paris, the defending "A" State Champ is in our bracket and seems to have re-loaded. Should be another Paris-Brossart semi-finals dawgfight IF we can both advance to that round. The 37th District has come up brutally tough again this year. Scott blasted Beechwood and Campbell County just took out George Rogers Clark. We are deep and talented and will...

You are absolutely correct. Dayton got them twice last season. My bad. I must have leap-frogged 2016-17 when doing my research. They also have a loss this year to Calvary Christian, which could diminish their chances for a rebound D-III title.

Mustangs, suffering from Beechwood hangover, started slowly and then warmed to their task in defeating the defending three time undefeated NKAC Division III champs 58-32. Zach Hamberg knocked home four 3-pointers en-route to leading the Mustangs with 16 points. J.D. Schumacher went double-figures for the second time in 24 hours, putting up 13 followng a 20 point outing yesterday, and the Sophomore Ethan Eilerman just missed his first career...

They were three Bluegrass officials, up from Lexington, that were really unfair to the players and the fans. 54 personal fouls whistled and 60 free-throws shot. If Dr. Naismith would have witnessed this one, he wouldn't have invented the game. To Beechwood's credit they overcame a 10 point Brossart advantage (47-37) with 1:56 remaining in the third quarter, cutting the margin to one at 50-49 at the end of the period. Brossart fell behind...

I was thinking that this was a NKAC Division III contest, and that they would have to play each other again down the road, since the D-III components play home and away. Looking at CovLatin's schedule on Riherds they do not have Bellevue listed a second time. I'm thinking that CovLatin probably plays an independent schedule and are no longer a member of the conference.

Just doesn't seem fair for PK and the Black Devils. Finally put a good ball team together, get teased with a few wins, and then out goes your stud. I really bad for the team and fans of the Devils. Too bad.

Sorry he was referring to Mitchell. That's what happens when I jump into a thread already in progress. Funny though, everyone knew exactly who I was talking about. Maybe Burfict is a straight up dude with a short fuse and an over-active motor. My personal suspicion is that he loves the limelight and thrives on having the reputation of being the NFL's bad boy. He did take a hell of a hit, possibly a bit groggy, but made a miraculously...

Oh, he sees it perfectly. It's all about his rep. He wants the spotlight. He needs the spotlight. He has to have the spotlight. This won't be popular, BUT I think he knew he wasn't hurt when he let them strap him on the gurney and haul him off, finger raised to the sky, soaking in the adulation. As soon as he got out of sight, he demanded to be released from the restraining devises and jumped off the gurney, living to fight another...

Mustangs place 15 players in the scoring column en-route to running clock win. Brossart played a 10 man split-squad (4 minutes each per quarter) in the first half, opening up a 43-11 advantage that saw Junior J.D. Schumacher put up 12 of his game-high 16 points. In the third quarter it was a mix and match lineup, and in the fourth the JV team took over. St. Patrick played extremely hard and never gave up, outscoring the home team 41-33 in...

I sincerely believe that this is a major contributing factor to the Bengals demise. Take a look at the makeup of the Bengals Super Bowl team, lots of intelligent players that included an Ivy Leaguer. Smarts, Team Chemistry, and Discipline all contribute to success. When the lunatics are left to run the asylum and no one is steering the ship, this too is what you get.

The Lady Stangs emerged from a perfectly ugly first quarter with an 11-5 lead and never looked back, en-route to their second win of the season, 51-32. Senior guard Taylor Moore knocked home five 3-point goals capping off a career high 17 points night. Freshman Madison Crowe came from off of the bench to add 15 points. Kennedy Kelly led the Lady Colonels with 15 and McLain Murphy added 10. The Lady Stangs visit The Finn on Friday night...

Your post came off as disrespectful to the Mustangs. We certainly respect the Cats and Burries. Burries is committed to Christian Brothres University. College signees are expected to put up big numbers, and Burries certainly lived up to his billing in the third quarter. You do realize that our second leading scorer and our sixth man from a year ago were on the bench nursing fall sports injuries? So maybe the visiting team might think...

Sometimes you can ride out a hot shooting streak, and I think that is what happened. While we fell behind by 11 in the midst of the fire-storm, we rode out the storm and reduced the lead to 49-47 at the end of the third quarter. What I love about this team is how deep we are and how many productive roles are being filled. Coach Code went nine deep tonight, with eight of them logging over 8 minutes. Add to that he had Donnelly and...

Great effort by our guys. A rough, physical game on both sides. No contrast of styles tonight. We may have been a bit more selective but it was a " take what you can get " game from the opening tip. Newport came out after the half and hit six threes. Led by as many as 11, but credit our guys for battling back and making a game of it. Newport equalled Highlands free-throw shooting effort, going 1 for 11 down the stretch. I think the game...

Free throws are a variable, you shoot them to start a practice, throw in a competitive session, shoot them again after a water break, and then shoot them under pressure to go home. Then you get to game day and shoot poorly and the assumption is that you don't practice them. Obviously, some players shoot them better than others, but on a given night, the free-throw variable works in your favor, and some nights they work against you. In a close...
