Does anyone else besides me object to having this screechy woman play-by-play person imposed on us? It's football for god's sake. Can't we have a man call a football game??? What is this world coming to????

Too much Nicholas County senior Issac Fryman spelled Brossart's doom in this one. Fryman who came into the game having rushed for 599 yards on the season, added over 300 more, and increased his touchdown output to 19 in this one. Nicholas County led 6-0, 14-0, and 20-6, but Brossart battled back on each occasion, trailing only 14-6 at halftime, and then cut the deficit to 20-14 with the ball early on in the fourth quarter. Fryman sent the...

Just returned from a quick hitter fishing trip to Pickwick Lake, Tennessee with my recently retired brother, who had fished Pickwick with me, with great results, back in the spring. Since I work high school football games on Friday nights, and we had a bye this past Friday night, this was the only window of opportunity that existed for this particular trip. I realized going in that it was waayyy too early for quality fall fishing, and this...

This sounds like the scenario that took place at Augusta a few years back, and they DID turn into a major regional contender, losing only to Mason County in the 10th Region finals, so anything is possible. Best of luck to 'em. Look forward to seeing them in in Maysville on January 8th.

Brossart defeats previously unbeaten (9-0) and un-scored-upon (43-0) Calvary Christian in the finals of the 10th Region "A" Tournament played Saturday morning at the Paris Athletic Complex. Great win for our gals who improve to 2-2-1 who will now challenge Newport Central Catholic, perhaps on September 12th at NCC's home field in a semi-state event to determine the representative from Regions 9-10 to the "A" State Tournament in Frankfort the...

I will provide more details when I get home later, but the Mustangs scored at the start of the second quarter on a 38 yards pass play from Tyler MacDonald to Brady Kramer. In the third quarter, Brossart intercepted a Newport pass at their goal line and then were tackled in the end zone two plays later for the safety. Newport threatened often, but the Brossart defense always came up with the big play. Two huge mis-snaps also contributed to...

Not a pleasant night at Newport Stadium. God knows they tried to play, but water got under the turf causing it to bubble up, which actually cancelled/postponed the ballgame, after a 50 minute delay. Both teams warmed up in heavy rain. Earlier lightning had moved out of the area, and 10 minutes was put on the clock at 7:20pm. We were notified that the white hat would crank the clock and we would be underway. 20 more minutes expired and...

The Cardinals did the same thing in the bottom of the ninth a few days back - failed to score with the bases loaded and no one out. Then the Reds came back to beat them.

I agree with some of the above stated rational. Just as teams which might not be as good presently as in the past, still maintain a bit of that past respect in the rankings, so too do teams which are not traditionally successful under-weighted in the rankings until they can earn that respect. This Saturday Calvary will have the chance to advance to the "A" State Tournament in Frankfort, should they be able to defeat Brossart in the 10th...

He got the big contract because he pitched two. no hitters. I'm yet to hear the first person say something nice about him. I could feel bad for him if he were an upright guy, but that is obviously not the case. He's obviously mailed it in and can't wait until the Reds cut him loose.

The Brossart Mustangs and Bellevue Tigers game at Bob Miller Stadium in Alexandria has been suspended due to lightning and impending bad weather. The Mustangs lead 20-14 and will kick off to Bellevue to start the second half at 10am on Saturday morning when the game will be resumed. As is, Brossart scored first at the 6:44 mark in the first quarter on a Tyler MacDonald to Trevor Schadler 22 yard touchdown pass. The PAT attempt was broken...

Brossart senior Bryan Duffy a Soccer/Football Mustang, is a perfect 6 if 6 on his PAT chances and 1 of 1 on Field Goals this season. Duffy already holds the school record for most FGs in a season with five last year.

Lopsided affair Tuesday night at Pendery Park. Senior Bryan Duffy with the hat trick. Brad Hickman pitches the shut out. Jacob Moore, Tanner Griffin, Allen Jump, and Brian Paulin all score. Battle of the Campbell County Catholics on Thursday as the Mustangs take on Newport Central Catholic, at NCC. I'm not sure where NCC plays their home games, possibly at Mosier Field.

My feeling is that the present day Ludlow Panthers have a bit of a chip on their shoulder and are tired of hearing about Justin Blackburn 24/7 for the past two seasons. I think they are very anxious to establish an identity of their own, and let the rest of us know that their pride, tradition, and capabilities didn't walk down the aisle with Blackburn. I've observed them at a pair of 7-7s earlier this summer, and are now witnessing what this...

Mustangs even their season record at 1-1 with a 1-0 weather shortened victory over Conner on Saturday night at Pendery Park. Junior Brian Paulin scored the game-winner, while Bradley Hickman pitched the shut out.

I'm guessing that conclusion is drawn because they have lost on back to back years to Class 1A Brossart and are a 4A school/program. Given time I think they will become competitive in 4A. They listed 44 players on their roster, 19 freshmen. They started a sophomore quarterback and running-back. While they might be judged presently as "bad", I do think they have potential for the future.

Holmes played without their senior quarterback James Walker. Sophomore Quantez Calloway (pictured below) started in his place and did a creditable job. Both he and Tayquan Calloway ran for "big gain" touchdowns of 55 and 63 yards. Also pictured is our Nathan Bezold, who carried the pack more than a few times last night for big gains.
