Filled up at the Speedway in Alexandria for $2.96 thinking that would be the norm. Drove two miles farther north and gas was $2.82. Thinking I must have just missed a price adjustment, I noted on the return trip that those price differentials were still in effect. Go Figure!!!

How true this is. I was the original owner of the Subway that operates in the Alexandrai Wal-Mart. I/we fought with the city i.e, Mayor Dan McGindley and a total moron who liked to throw his authority around - John Jewel - to put a simple small SUBWAY sign on the facade of the building. I presented photos of other Subway signs on other Wal-Marts. The only reason they would provide me, was that "they wanted our city to look nice." It's...

I feel bad for Rod Snapp. Man has dedicated a large portion of his life to Newport, but always comes up just short of the brass ring, or is dealt blows like this one that are hard to overcome. I guess the grass always appears greener.

I've done the Quebec City/New England cruise on two occasions and thoroughly enjoyed it. To Oldercoach, I would include Gloucester, Mass in my itinerary. It is where they filmed the "Perfect Storm", in which Augusta native George Clooney starred as Billy Tyne on the ill-fated Andrea Gail. Gloucester is still a working fishing port, and the Crow's Nest tavern, made popular in the movie is still there, a block or two from the docks.

I only had causal contact with the man. Back in our early days of broadcasting over the internet, and before cell phones, he taught me the difference between a digital phone line and an analog one at a Brossart-GRC game, when "I couldn't get out." I was trying to connect to a digital line, and didn't know the difference. He also taught me that I could "get out" by using a fax machine if one were in the vicinity. It didn't help me that...

Off topic but related. This spring at Pickwick we saw a huge flock of snow geese at Pickwick. First time I had ever seen the all white geese. Is this a rare sighting or are they rather common.

This post was made back in March. I have since returned to the area referenced and got a good shot of one of the two eagles who reside on that stretch of the North Channel of Lake Huron.

I was quite impressed with Noah Brewer from Campbell County. Kid really hustles, earned himself a couple of extra bases, and made good things happen for his team. I hope he has a future in baseball somewhere at the next level.
