Grabbed a fish sandwich at Burger Brothers following the races at Belterra Park. Traffic was bad going to the Aldean concert, so I headed to New Richmond and drove all of the way up to the Empress Chili on 52 where they still serve old fashioned ice cream sodas. Grabbed a large Cherry Ice Cream Soda and some french fried cauliflower, then rode down to the river, sat on the wall and watched the river activity for about a half hour before...

Having done play by play webcasting for Brossart High School athletics for the past 15 years now, there are many times that I reflect on the days that Dale and Hardy "painted the picture" over the radio waves. These two were consummate professionals and broadcast a golden era of high school sports (basketball) here in Northern Kentucky. Dale is truly a legend and will be greatly missed, albeit leaving his voice and calls deeply ingrained in...

I was impressed with Scott in a 7 on 7 this past Monday. EXTREMELY ATHLETIC and quick!!! QB can throw the pigskin and the receivers can go up and get it.

There is a great story in the book about Coach Shields' first day as CovCath freshmen coach, when he was out with Hils and Cronin.

The long awaited Coach Ken Shields life story has become reality. We began this project over ten years ago, retracing the former St. Thomas, Highlands, and NKU head coach's life from cradle through growing up in West Covington, meeting his wife, attending the University of Dayton, coaching at the aforementioned schools and generally becoming Northern Kentucky Sports' ambassador and good humor man. A story appears in today's online edition...

" A new Hosea program for children age 12 and younger will use an existing indoor gym. The Ernie Liggett Inner City Basketball League will be run and named after longtime Hosea Project Movers employee Ernie Liggett, Hosea said." Happy to see Ernie Liggett receive some name recognition. Old timers remember Ernie as a premiere 9th Region Basketball official back in the day. Ernie still stays connected to the sport, serving as an assistant...

The last partial eclipse of the sun that I can remember was in the summer of 1995 in early afternoon.

Joining in the discussion late, but the original KFC, back when they primarily served Original Recipe Chicken exclusively was excellent. Since then it has become very hit and miss. 50% of the time they can't fill a 100% Original Recipe order, and often substitute Crispy. In a recent trip to Pigeon Forge I hit the drive-thru and picked up a 3 piece meal with two extra Original Recipe legs. When returning to the hotel I discovered that I...

A good friend, Ed Reickhoff, who unfortunately passed away prior to some of the more recent information on Amelia Earhart, was completely obsessed with her disappearance, dedicating much of his life trying to create reliable conjecture as to her route and possible point of demise.. Hopefully, upon passing he was able to discover what actually happened to the female pilot, back in the late 30's. This explanation certainly makes sense, and...

Actually the title is "Nothing More, Nothing Less, and Nothing Else". My original thought was to name it "Till the Fat Lady Sings". It is actually in print. Terry Boehmker and Rick Myers took on the project of editing the "War and Peace" edition that Coach Shields and I had produced and reduced it to a more reader-friendly novel. We are meeting soon to discuss a strategy of bringing it public, internet sales, book signings etc.. This has...
