  1. I believe a couple starters for the Indians weren’t there today. Don’t know what if that was the difference, but it they’re starters it played into the final score.
  2. I understand this a theoretical post, but let’s not put the cart before the horse. Newport has to beat a rising Ludlow team first, and that will be no small feat. Newport got the W in the score book, but the game was more about Ludlow losing than Newport winning. The Cats are going to need to step up their game another notch or three to win this one.
  3. I think Coach Hahn was used to hearing a cannon shot after each touchdown back in his day. I wonder if that will be part of the deal???
  4. So, to answer the question in the thread title, "everywhere but Newport stadium!"
  5. Great high school football game to watch. Lots of lead changes, big plays and Cats pulled out the W.
  6. Quoting myself. How classy is that?? So, at first glance, it looks like Newport hasn’t had a home playoff game since 2014. Long overdue!
  7. Final. Cats earn a home playoff game. Now let’s see if the new stadium is ready!!
  8. As to the bolded part above, the Newport secondary is plenty athletic, and the Cats have played a few "run first" teams this season where the game plan is just what you describe. We shall see what they come up with tonight. Welch was always going to get his share of the load as he is such a dominant runner. If the Breds have any threat of a passing game with their backup QB, that will make him that much more effective. Going to be a great night for football!!
  9. Sloppy game for the Cats. Way, way too many penalties, poor field position all night and let’s face it, Lloyd is a good team. Lots to learn from this game to get ready for district play.
  10. Last week vs Boone County, the Wildcats were scrappy. Tonight, they were sloppy. Lucky to beat Ludlow on their homecoming. Ludlow prepared a nice game plan, and for the most part, executed it well. The Panthers D plays tough, hits hard, and there were always multiple players in on the tackle. One last observation. Both teams had a few players cramping during the second half. I would expect that to be behind us due to the reduced humidity and cooler temperatures, but maybe the athletes just aren’t staying hydrated???
  11. Another nice win for the Cats. Played scrappy, and whenever the momentum switched to the Rebels, Newport was able to get it back.
  12. It’s exciting to watch Kyle Lee’s maturation as a QB. When nothing’s open downfield, he’s getting comfortable tucking it and running. Last night, that turned into a 50yd+ TD run. His basketball skills are on display when he scrambles and finds an open receiver on a “fast break” of sorts. Just a junior, there’s a lot of great football ahead for this young man!
  13. Nice win for Newport. Still too many stupid penalties that will haunt you when playing better teams, like next week. On to Boone County!
