  1. I have seen him play 3-4 times . He is a nice player. You an I may differ on our opinion of a lock down defender. I consider Powell a much better defender. One game away from conversation - I said he would need to have a monster game and win to be the 4th best IMO Again just my opinion Re: balanced scoring: south and north also have other players that score as well. It’s obvious that you are his dad since all you have done for 2/3 years is talk him and SC up. You are very biased. You should be proud to have a good high school player. I am not taking away from that. Just offering my opinion that he isn’t in the conversation thus year unless he has an absolute monster of a game Friday and his team beats Collins. As far as schedule goes / North has played Ballard, Male (twice), and many others. They still have South, OC, & Collins too. Collins played in KOB and has played a god schedule too. I don’t think you can say one player has played a better schedule over the other. This isn’t class A ball and stat filing. They are all playing enough good teams. Head to head SC just hadn’t won and that means more than a dads eye test to me
  2. Conley not in conversation this year unless he has a absolute monster of a game vs Collins and SC wins. He would be at best 4th place if that happens Will be a top candidate next year after the other 4 players graduate. No shame in the fact that this years 8th region has some top notch seniors and better players Looking at just the 3 OC schools and Collins. SC is 0-3 vs OC schools (plays Collins Friday) Among following players: Morrison (South Oldham), Powell (North Oldham), McKnight (Collins), Vail (Collins), & Conley (Spencer County) Conley stats are the least impressive Justin Powell MVP of KOB D1 signee / top 75 player in country 22.2 PPG 8.5 Rebs Likely highest assists but no asst on KHSAA Best rebounding among all 5 and highest PPG of all 5 Luke Morrison 2019 POY 8th region D2 signee and best 3P shooter / field goal shooter 20.8 PPG 4.4 rebs Best shooting % among all 5 players compared Dayvion McKnight D1 signee and top 100 player in country 21.7 PPG 8.1 RPG M Vail D1 signee 16.3 5.6 *stats would likely be better without McKnight on his team Sam Conley 21.9 PPG 6.8 RPG Take into consideration that North Oldham scores less points per game than the other 4 teams and the PPG for Powell are even better. That also holds true for the % of assist that he provides as well IMO / POY will go down to team head to head of SO, NO, & Collins with 4 players (mostly McKnight, Powell, & Morrison) as the top three candidates. Not much separation from those 3-4 players. Powell being hurt currently could hurt his cause too. There may be candidates from other 8th region teams as well SC 914 points /13 games (70.30) SO 1214/16 (75.88) NO 945/14 (67.5) CO 1060/15 (70.66) Conley has lowest shooting percentage among all 5 From the field too. Next year he should be in the conversation but this year he is not. This doesn’t include other candidates from other teams either. It doesn’t include OC players or other SO or NO players either.
  3. I would give edge to Collins backcourt over North by a slim margin due to the duo being a little better collectively . I would rather have the North backcourt in a tight game due to Powell being the best of the 4 players being compared though. I think Morrison is best HS shooter in a long time. Players: 1.Powell 2A. Morrison 2B. McKnight The Oldham County district will be a 3 way toss up for the first time in a long time. Whoever gets the “1” seed will be in best shape as the 2 v 3 is a killer 1st round district Elim game.
  4. Powell is a tremendous defender. I would consider him an elite defender due to his length. He is an incredible passer and a solid shooter. Morrison is best shooter in the state. McKnight best athlete in region and an incredible rebounder for his size. .Those 3 are heads above the rest of th region players. That isn’t a knock on the other players but those 3 I mentioned are 1st team or second team all state caliber. Dallas Roberts from North will be up there too (small right now as he is just a freshman). Offensively Roberts is just behind those top 3. He competes on D but just not there physically yet. Conley is very good HS player too.
  5. Congrats to Butler. KC is a stand up person and a great coach. Great to see success at Butler.
