  1. The Colts "spit out the bit" in this one. Way too many missed layups & missed free-throws. Congrats to Fairdale, a well-coached team who played a spirited and disciplined game plan. They will need much more of the same in their game against Evangel. Good luck guys!
  2. Huge upset! Congrats to Seneca. I feel bad for my St. X friends, I'm sure they were stunned by this one. This may be the biggest upset in the Kentucky Regionals so far!
  3. DeSales won the game easily, but may have suffered a serious setback. Senior guard & leading scorer, Damon King rolled his left ankle in the 2nd half & had to be helped off the floor. I have not read any updates of his condition, but if he has to sit out the next game against a very good Fairdale team, it will make it a tough task for the Colts to overcome. However, it might actually help the Colts to rise to the occasion by making them less dependent on their "star" and rely more on their other teammates. If they can pull off a decisive win without King, it would do wonders for their confidence in the Regional championship game.
  4. I'm happy to see the Colts doing well lately. I'm especially happy for Senior Will Gibson, who is finally getting back to the form that helped him receive an offer from Liberty last year. When he is playing well, and the rest of the team is sharing the ball (like they usually do) the Colts can be tough to beat.
  5. Do you know if the South Oldham vs DeSales game will be streamed live?
  6. Lexington Catholic is very good, but I think the home court advantage will give the Rocks an edge in this one. Two of the best teams in the state. This should be a good one.
  7. Tough night for the Tigers, but I know they'll bounce back and be ready for the Regionals! Congrats to the Rocks! They are a really tough team.
  8. I'll pick Newport vs Lyon in the top bracket & Evangel vs Murray in the bottom bracket. Final Lyon over Evangel.
  9. Shout out to Evan Dennison for posting the stats on X. Thank you!
  10. My apologies to Runcible Owl. I had hoped to be at this game tonight, but alas, I have been under the weather and had to stay home. I went to bed for a couple of hours instead. I got to watch the replay of the game on NFHS later. CovCath really played lights out! They did not have to depend on one player to be the star. All of their players made significant contributions. The Colonels moved the ball well, and shot well for much of the game. Their defense forced DeSales into several missed shots and turnovers. Thanks for posting the stats above. It tells the story of the game. Free Throws: CC shot 70% (14 of 20) the Colts only 50% (4 of 8). The Colts best free throw shooter Damone King was only 3 of 6 tonight (he had been averaging in the high 80% range). Another excuse I could throw out there is the fact that our #2 guard (Prince Kahnplaye did not play tonight) I have no idea why. I hope it wasn't a serious injury. Also, the Colonels defense held our most consistent player, Logan Tharp, to a 50% night (4 for 10). When Logan plays well, the Colts do well. But, excuses aside, Covington Catholic really looked good. They play together as a team and can hurt you in many ways. Their defense was really tenacious, causing the Colts fits. They deserve all the credit for this win tonight. They deserve to be one of the top teams in the state. Some good things the Colts can take away from this game: #1, Highly touted Senior Will Gibson finally played like he did his Junior year. He had been in a terrible slump the early part of this year. #2 hopefully Prince Kahnplaye will return. I just wish I could have been there!!
  11. DeSales has struggled a bit lately and they have 2 tough opponents coming up this weekend in Butler on Friday & CovCath on Saturday! Sheesh!
  12. I see they play the DeSales Colts on Saturday. I'll try to make it to that game if the weather cooperates. The Colts have been off kilter lately, but with a little luck, a home game against CovCath might still be a barn-burner! You guys have had a great season so far!!
  13. Congratulations Tigers!! Well done, and well deserved!!
  14. Being a Colts fan, I was disappointed with the result, but I have to give credit to the Fleming County players. They are a talented and scrappy bunch. They pass really well and create a lot of open shots with their fast-paced motion on offense. The Colts seemed off-key to me. Their leading scorer Damone King seemed at times to be off his usual outstanding self, missing shots he almost always makes. Also, the Colts were hampered when one of their other big scorers, Logan Tharp, got in early foul trouble due to a couple of questionable calls. Will Gibson still has not returned to Junior year form. But all that said, Fleming County was very deserving of the win. They played with great intensity & energy from the get-go. I'm sure their fans are hoping they saved some of that energy, confidence & enthusiasm for the Championship game against a great Lexington Catholic team. That should be a good one!
