I feel for teams on the losing end of a running clock. It's no fun to lose, and it's got to only feel worse losing with the KHSAA's coup de gras rule added in on top of things. But then when I think of that, I remind myself of a CCH blowout from Highlands years I was at umpteen years ago, and how much I felt like I just wanted the game to end so we wouldn't be scored on any more. The running clock measure is a good rule. For every one game...

This. CCH's offensive potency is a product of having a very good balance of strength between strong running and strong passing. Not only that, but we can very effectively go for the deep passes like we saw some of with Jack Coldiron against Ryle, or we can go for the short passes to Michael Mayer like we saw against Henry Clay. And if the passing game isn't producing, we have a group of bulldozers on the offensive line who will gladly make...

Henry Clay isn't great. I think their competition in Tates Creek sounds pretty suspect. Counting out PATs, HC only ran 22 plays from scrimmage if I'm reading the stats correctly (10 passing plays and 12 running plays). So if they had 330 yards of offense on 22 plays, that means Tates Creek was giving up yardage by double digits each play, on average. That's just not going to happen with CCH's defense. This has the definite potential to be...

Is Engler the QB coach and OC and head coach? I've always felt like the QB coach was a pretty involved job for as few players as they're working with day to day in practice. I don't know if Coach Engler is covering all three of those duties, but if so, I would think maybe he needs to lighten his workload.

The KHSAA is showing Mayer with 8 solo tackles and 4 assisted tackles for 12 total tackles.

Can either of you shed a little light on the reporting guidelines? Whether or not the KHSAA have a deadline for reporting. Which statistics are required and which are optional.

So it sounds like the KHSAA's new system has muddied the waters a little for statisticians trying to get things reported. That's a shame. I hope you at very least get some feedback in response to your email nkypete. It's good that you took the time to reach out to them. If they don't get any negative feedback, it's entirely possible that they wouldn't be aware that an issue existed in the first place.

I noticed that there are several new categories of stats the KHSAA is posting on their site, but I've also noticed that some of the schools around northern Kentucky haven't reported all of them, and in the cases of Covington Catholic, Dixie, and Lloyd, I've not seen any statistics reported at all for last week's games. Any reason for not reporting certain elements? It would seem like with all of the software packages put there these days that...
