  1. Honorable Mention Game - West had 3 - 0 lead just after halftime. West gave up 4 goals in last 20 minutes to fall 4-3. We didn't stay to watch 1st/2nd Team Game but heard East dominated and won 7-2. I was a little surprised by that result as on paper would have thought West would have had that scoreline.

  3. Riherds Scoreboard has the State Tourney bracket for boys and girls.
  4. Did the same reports say that the handling that got St. Henry into extra-time was EXTREMELY fortunate for the Cru? Ball travelling away from goal, defender turning away from ball, struck arm of defender on edge of penalty area with both feet out of the area? Technically a penalty but not one person would have argued if placed outside the area. Fair result overall in my neutral opinion - Ryle controlled first half and their attacks led to foul in area and the lead. St. Henry came out to play in the second half and put Ryle in defensive stance, missed a couple of sitters to tie and finally got that tie with the handling. Quickly decided in extra-time with what in my opinion was a foul that happened to occur in the penalty area. Center was in great position for all 3 penalties and decisively made the calls.
  5. I completely understand the desire to play on home field when it's your "turn." What I can't understand is the allowance of playing on a dangerous field with (no natural grass but all mud and puddles) when several plastic fields are available and offered. Both teams lucky to get out with few serious injuries. FYI SK was undefeated on the Natural Grass surfaces prior to playing in the slop at Grant. Also didn't help that the game was delayed from Tuesday to Wednesday and finally to Thursday. So I agree with OH's rule.
  6. SK gave up early goal on bad clearance on corner. SK had many chances before finally tying with 20 left. Had 5 more solid chances after that but settled for PKs. Collins keeper made 3 great saves on strong attempts. Collins flew the bar twice to give chance before last kicker squeezed one in just off the bar past the keeper. It did feel like the strong season would lead to finally achieving success in Regionals. SK losing to Grant on their destroyed field changed the trajectory causing the toughest 8th Region draw possible. Collins then Oldham then North.
  7. Tough end to season for SK Pioneers. Lost 3-2 in 5th round of kicks from spot. Lots of great seniors who left it all on the pitch in their final HS match.
  8. Not a question of toughness - Excuses, Excuses I know but not a deep team - injuries to two key players early in game and yellow cards to two others resulted in bench playing most of game. 5 goals total given up in other 4 losses - 5 in this one alone. Hoping injured players ready for tomorrow night's District Final (3 team district) and more importantly next week's Region 8 tourney.
  9. Pioneers spoil Cardinal Senior Night in Georgetown. Hat trick by Christian Seger and other goal by freshman Blake Ivey. Lone assist by Will Leanhart (16th of the season).
  10. Impressive run by the Pioneers in a little over a week: 4 - 1 - 0 including wins against Oldham and South Oldham and competitive game with Ryle. Team looking forward to St. Henry match on Thursday and wrapping up 7 games in 13 days on Saturday at Scott.
