  1. Coach Woolf so deserves all the accolades he has received as a player and coach. He is beloved by his former players. Very cool of Cov Cath to honor a legendary player and well respected coach.
  2. I heard that not just a fight broke out, but kids were swinging helmets and one kid got a broken nose. It started between the offense and defense line but quickly escalated to a dangerous situation. My son was a senior last year and has many friends still on the team.
  3. Offense looks terrible. Coach Engler needs to get this fixed in a hurry. Ryle parents and the TCM not very patient.
  4. Having watched every game Ryle has played with Coach Engler as head coach, I have serious questions about his qualifications as a quarter back guru. Having a player like Tanner Morgan with his work ethic and natural abilities definitely helps any program, but coach Engler has been at Ryle for five years now. The quarterback position has not been a strength and could be considered Ryles biggest weakness since Tanner left. Last years quarterback played solely at wide receiver and never took snaps at quarterback until the starting quarterback was replaced last year during the first game. I don't recall the JV quarterbacks being really successful during coach Engler's tenure either. I hope this years squad and particularly the quarterback the utmost success but I really think much of the success the program has had in the last three years is due more to the transcendent nature of skilled players on the offensive side of the ball like Tanner Morgan and Jake Chisholm rather then a rapid development of skill players under coach Engler. I think the offensive line coach has done a great job getting the best out his players and the defensive coaches have done a good job getting players to buy into their system, I am just not sold on Coach Engler's ability to develop the position he was suppose to be a so called guru at IMO. I hope I am wrong......
  5. I also think Elmore NT from Ryle is also playing.
  6. I will be interested in seeing how our defense comes together this upcoming season? We lose a ton of seniors but the biggest loss might very well be the loss of defensive coordinator Mike Woolf. I might be a little biased, being that both of my boys played for coach Woolf. Has a D-coordinator been named yet? As potent as the offense has been the last three years, and even with a very good kicker, coaching decisions have often left the defense in precarious situations. for the most part, the defense held the line and kept our opponents out of the end zone. I hope the new coordinator can continue the success that coach Woolf established and demanded. I wish nothing but continued success for the Raiders, but I would not be shocked if the Raiders took a step back this season.
  7. Congratulation Mike, this was long over due. I am a little biased with both my boys having played for coach Woolf, but CC hired a excellent Coach today.
  8. Not so sure they would be fighting as hard as you may think. Coach Engler walked into a very promising situation with the cupboard pretty loaded and community ready for change. Ryle has had good success on the field, in terms of wins and losses, but there was a lot questionable decisions, and plenty of in game mismanagement that anyone who watched these last few years can attest to. Ryle really struggled that first season under Coach Engler. Tanner Morgan came back home the following year and the best running back in school history just graduated. Let's see how the next couple years pan out.
  9. Why does it look like it then? How do you explain wasting a timeout on third down, then after the time out trying to draw them offsides and when that doesn't works punting the ball on the next play. You would think that there would be a signal that you could give the quarterback that lets him know to get to the line of scrimmage to accomplish to try to draw the defense offsides. This last game against Butler we were up 14-0, Butler was not moving the ball on our defense with any consistency, Then you onside kick that they recover on the Raider 40 yard line, we get a personal foul while trying to recover the kick so they end up on the raider 45 yard line. Ryle holds Butler to a 3 & out. They punt and down the ball on the 3 yard line. We fumble and they recover and score 3 plays later. If you kick the ball off, and we have a very good kicker who has a strong leg, and hold Butler to a 3 and out, Ryle gets the ball near the 30 - 40 yard line. There is no reason to onside kick and our offense was not firing on all cylinders because Jake is playing on one leg and our back up quarterback is in the game. I get onside kicking if you are trying to score in a hurry, are looking to surprise the other team, or you want to get to a running clock scenario but why would you risk giving them the ball on a short field?
  10. Ryle, I know from the outside looking in everything looks fine but if one was to take a close look into game management, play calling, and player development from the quarterback position (which was the main reason coach Engler was hired). I have been involved in the program before coach Engler started and realize that the program was in need of a change. My only concern about coach, and why I am commenting on this post is because of my concerns about the offensive side of the ball post Tanner Morgan/ Jake Chisholm. Both players were outstanding football players and their talent alone was good enough to cover up coaching flaws. It was very concerning that the quarterback development of this years team was lacking. It will be interesting to watch the next few years to see if Ryle struggles to compete offensively. I also question the game strategy implemented the past two years. Time management, wasting timeouts, and the frequency in which Ryle would onside kick and surrender field position was astonishing. I know that this was coach Engler's first head coaching experience and that it would take time to learn the nuance of how to manage game situations. Unfortunately Ryle too often wastes time outs and squander field position too frequently leaving the defense in a horrible position and allowing opponents back into games unnecessarily. I know some will look at the overall record Ryle has had the past few years, but I am convinced that the record had more to do with talent, and that talent overcame the many deficiencies of the head coach. The lack of a quality backup in a position that he was supposed to be an expert about makes me feel less than optimistic about the future of the raiders chances of becoming a perennial top program in 6A. I realize that the way the Boone County School system is set up plays a major role in lessening the chances of their teams competing with the likes of St. X and Trinity on a regular basis, which is why I feel it is so important to capitalize on the things that have nothing to do with talent.
  11. Does Lexington Catholic want the Quarterback Guru back?
  12. I think he is going for x-rays but heard that it was more precautionary. He's a tough kid, I wouldn't bet against him being out very long.
  13. Ryle's defense played well in the first half. They pressured Shear and had quite a few pressures and sacks. I don't understand why they onside kick so often, They put their defense in bad position way to often. The hurry up offense the Pioneers run plus a few injuries played into a tough second half. When Golden went down it changed the defense scheme and put the raiders in bad positions. The Pioneers offense played well in the second half and never gave up.
