Curry did an extra tap between steps--it wasn't even close to legal. I agree, it's a walk at times but under the NBA rules--when done properly--it is not a walk. From the time you gather the ball (which I assume, Duece, you are talking about) you get two steps. So, when done right, he gathers on the dribble as he's stepping forward and his two steps back are his two steps. We can all agree that the double step back is traveling.

I think it goes way back but has become more used in recent years. I remember Jaime Walz at Highlands using it regularly in the early and mid 90s. I think the NBA (Larry Bird comes to mind) has had many doing a step-back jump shot for a long time but more from a set position or off of a stand-still dribble. I think the move has evolved from there out of necessity with defenders becoming more athletic and bigger.

Do either of you know the NBA traveling rule? It is different than every other league in the world.

The Saints have to be more prepared. THey should have known this and thrown to the other side of the field during critical moments in the game.

Your situation isn't going to happen but you can have refs and umpires at a scrimmage or preseason practice and they would likely be willing to talk to players, coaches, or parents.

I agree that this is a problem and that is likely getting worse. With that said, are there any schools, individual programs, or referee associations that are doing anything about it? Sadly, it not too far of a stretch to make this comparison, but something like getting police officers and the community to come together. Or something like the Bengals do with the ladies program and introductory classes by having something for fans to...

NKU with a pretty impressive performance. Their defense is what puts them on top of the conference--I think they're the only ones besides Wright State who plays it consistently. After it was 21-20 at the midpoint of the first half, NKU shut down GB for the next 20 minutes and was up by as many as 22. They held GB to their lowest total of the season. Chris Vogt had his coming out party. NKU was looking to pound it inside against the...

CC was 12 for 20 from the line. That's better than their season average.

But they're not playing a quarter. If the second possession went to the end of the 15 minutes, it would not end the game. That is my understanding of it with the new OT rule. Both teams must possess it but it's sudden death after that, so time on the clock is irrelavent.

Hypothetic and it would be difficult but in the playoffs, that wouldn't end the game, would it? The other team would get the ball. There is essentially no game clock in overtime in the playoffs.

It was a QB call. The DL swung his arm and hit his front should right next to his head, which to the only two officials watching behind him, looked like it hit his head. Was it a bad call? Sure. But, from behind, it's a call that all QB's get now. It didn't really change much anyway. The Chiefs weren't going to stop him. Does anyone doubt Brady converts the 3rd and 7? They were 13 for 19 on third down conversions.

You're right about the Nance/Romo dynamics. So, kudos to CBS and the two of them for figuring it out. If others could do it, they would. Or, they're figuring it out now that it works and we'll see if anyone else can do. Most QB's are smart but nobody has done what he does or has done it as well. Even if Nance wasn't onboard and it was a "typical" booth duo, Romo is still better than most others at telling what happened after the fact,...

I meant broadcasting football. Who would think he's in a class by himself as a quarterback?

The PI call would have ended the game but you can't say that won or lost the game. There are too many plays and other calls throughout the game to ever say that in any sport. Goff should have gotten a face mask call on the possession before which seemed pretty obvious. It would have been 1st and goal and likely would have resulted in a TD instead of a FG. They also should have made a play and scored a TD anyway but didn't. Same way the...

Not only is he already in a class by himself in football, he's in a class by himself in all of sports broadcasting. Now, this is specific to him being an ANALYST because maybe he is a little goofy and maybe it's not a smooth delivery all the time but to me that is fine. As a side note, THIS is what I want from someone in college basketball but they're all to worried about getting their catch phrases in. Actually ananlyze the game and tell...

NKU has torched the last two teams that have decided to not pressure them and/or sit in a zone. Detroit played 2-3 the entire game and Cleveland State played a soft man and then 1-3-1 zone for periods of time. I don't think NKU will see much more zone this year. NKU hit 8 of 10 threes in the first 10 minutes and led 30-21. They hit 10 of 19 threes in the first half and then hit their first 5 threes of the second half, so they were 15 for...

Baseball is a very different game to call on the radio. Not sure what you expect from a baseball play-by-play guy but they have to talk a lot with not a lot of action (and even less today with walks, Ks, HR). Scully was a master at calling a game. I do agree with the assessment that Hoard would probably fill the role well. I like him on basketball but not so much on football. I think that is more due to him being with Lapham (who is...

Marty is a legend. As the voice of the Reds for 45 years, he will be missed. I guess some of you have soured on him in recent years but just like Joe's last few years had long stretches of dead air and line drives hit to "right left center field", I took Marty's more edgy side with a smile--his call of a game has not declined. It will be different in 2020.
