But they're not playing a quarter. If the second possession went to the end of the 15 minutes, it would not end the game. That is my understanding of it with the new OT rule. Both teams must possess it but it's sudden death after that, so time on the clock is irrelavent.

Hypothetic and it would be difficult but in the playoffs, that wouldn't end the game, would it? The other team would get the ball. There is essentially no game clock in overtime in the playoffs.

It was a QB call. The DL swung his arm and hit his front should right next to his head, which to the only two officials watching behind him, looked like it hit his head. Was it a bad call? Sure. But, from behind, it's a call that all QB's get now. It didn't really change much anyway. The Chiefs weren't going to stop him. Does anyone doubt Brady converts the 3rd and 7? They were 13 for 19 on third down conversions.

You're right about the Nance/Romo dynamics. So, kudos to CBS and the two of them for figuring it out. If others could do it, they would. Or, they're figuring it out now that it works and we'll see if anyone else can do. Most QB's are smart but nobody has done what he does or has done it as well. Even if Nance wasn't onboard and it was a "typical" booth duo, Romo is still better than most others at telling what happened after the fact,...

I meant broadcasting football. Who would think he's in a class by himself as a quarterback?

The PI call would have ended the game but you can't say that won or lost the game. There are too many plays and other calls throughout the game to ever say that in any sport. Goff should have gotten a face mask call on the possession before which seemed pretty obvious. It would have been 1st and goal and likely would have resulted in a TD instead of a FG. They also should have made a play and scored a TD anyway but didn't. Same way the...

Not only is he already in a class by himself in football, he's in a class by himself in all of sports broadcasting. Now, this is specific to him being an ANALYST because maybe he is a little goofy and maybe it's not a smooth delivery all the time but to me that is fine. As a side note, THIS is what I want from someone in college basketball but they're all to worried about getting their catch phrases in. Actually ananlyze the game and tell...

NKU has torched the last two teams that have decided to not pressure them and/or sit in a zone. Detroit played 2-3 the entire game and Cleveland State played a soft man and then 1-3-1 zone for periods of time. I don't think NKU will see much more zone this year. NKU hit 8 of 10 threes in the first 10 minutes and led 30-21. They hit 10 of 19 threes in the first half and then hit their first 5 threes of the second half, so they were 15 for...

Baseball is a very different game to call on the radio. Not sure what you expect from a baseball play-by-play guy but they have to talk a lot with not a lot of action (and even less today with walks, Ks, HR). Scully was a master at calling a game. I do agree with the assessment that Hoard would probably fill the role well. I like him on basketball but not so much on football. I think that is more due to him being with Lapham (who is...

Marty is a legend. As the voice of the Reds for 45 years, he will be missed. I guess some of you have soured on him in recent years but just like Joe's last few years had long stretches of dead air and line drives hit to "right left center field", I took Marty's more edgy side with a smile--his call of a game has not declined. It will be different in 2020.

Defense is starting to play well, which is key to Cal's teams. That's a really good sign. They probably are not going to beat a Top 25 team without Keldon but he only shot 6 times. Others played well, he was off, you get up comfortably, so he defers to others. Actually, nice to see a 20 point win when your best scorer doesn't score. Solid road win.

To the point, it's high school. These are very part time jobs for these guys and gals. They do their best. Some are better than others. I don't think what you have stated is any different than college or pro. There are stretches where there are more calls. Maybe they are trying to get control of the game or maybe it's just random or maybe the play is getting more aggressive--doesn't mean it's wrong. As far as the 2 official...

Great job by Coach Brannen in the second half, deciding to drive the ball nearly every possession. WSU couldn't guard the Norse M2M. Tate dominated the second half and finished with 19 pts, 6 reb, 4 ast. McDonald had 22 pts, 12 reb, and the huge 3 to put NKU up 5 late. Ugly first half but a grind-it-out win to stay on top of the conference.

Everyone is ripping the winning coach. Why not rip the losing coach? There are videos of them holding the ball and the "better" team sitting in a zone up 3-0. Apparently there were two possession each in the first half. Same thing as the Highlands-ND game several years ago. The only thing that I would question is that it was done in a regular season game. If you're going to break out this strategy, why not wait until the postseason?

First, I'm guessing the answer is no. Second, there's a difference between being physically better than a team and execution. If you're telling them all (starters, second team, third team) to run and press, that is NOT good coaching. Campbell could have won by 80 without running any offense but as a coach, that doesn't benefit me. Would Campbell bring in their freshman or 8th grade team to practice their press? No, because it doesn't...

A few thoughts. I think the main problem with most people is winning by a large margin in a match-up like this. If it's Campbell beating another large school in NKY by 82, the thought is "what is wrong with _____(insert losing team)?" Second, has anyone who is supporting the run it up, press all you want, score all you can philosophy, ever been on a high school varsity coaching staff? It's easy to talk that way when you don't have to take...

You score 97 points because you want to. Plan and simple. There is a 0% chance Calvary wins this game. You gain nothing from pressing them because it's probably not as competitive as your practice. This game shouldn't be played. If Calvary offered to drop the game, then shame on Campbell for making them play it.

WV game only drew a little more than 5,000. Didn't they get over 6,000 for a homecoming game in the last few years? Either way, I was talking with a friend about it being a D1 era record. Heard the sidelines are over half 2/3 in the upper deck.

I think a lot of kids these days are specializing in one sport. I don't agree with it and don't know many coaches who are against their kids playing other sports. But with the new rules and being able to "practice" all year around, if you're not there working, someone else is and if it's your favorite sport, you're probably going to go.

That's right, it's up to 18 now. Still, 16-2 with second best being 12-6 doesn't seem likely.

To win the over, Tennessee has to go 16-0 and the second best team has to be 12-4. If they slip up a couple of times (which you would expect on the road) and go 14-2 (still very impressive) the second best team would have to be 10-6. I don't see that kind of gap here. It would be hard for any team in any conference to win the over on this bet. Is this a real line somewhere in Vegas?

Norse with a nice bounce-back win over Detroit, who had beaten Wright State by 21. Detroit HC Mike Davis' son Antoine is the second leading scorer in the nation and had 48 against WSU. He had 33 today but the Norse (I thought) played pretty good defense on him. The kid can play and is in the zone right now. He hit 10 threes the other night and was 13-24 overall today, 3-9 on threes. The Titans play nothing but 2-3 zone and the Norse...
