ODU is legit this year. The top of C-USA is absolutely brutal. WKU hosts ODU next Saturday. Will be a fun one.

Yep, WKU and our years of Russell Athletic sponsorships were totally spending thousands of dollars (that we do not have) to pay recruits on the Russell Athletic circuit. Gimme a break.

Western Kentucky basketball in the mix for five-star Charles Bassey The 247 Sports "Crystal Ball" also has Bassey as 100% to WKU (only 3 recruiting experts so far). Hopefully this doesn't end up like a Mitchell Robinson situation. Bassey is rated #3 in the class of 2019, and rumors around WKU land is that he may reclassify to 2018.

No, they shouldn't. Yet, not many teams sub.500 have ever made the NCAA tournament via at large bid. Only a few I can think of. Money makes the world go round in college sports now, though. More "mid-majors" deserve at large births than have been given to them over the last few years. Of course, I hate the term "mid-major" since there is one single division in college basketball: Division 1.

Haha I think he was mocking posters on this board who said they would be shocked if this team would do any better than WKU's team last year, which was one of the worst in our history going 15-17.

WKU had a TE (Deon Yelder) catch a TD in the Pro Bowl too. Hopefully his performance helps his draft stock as well. Doughty was a fantastic college QB, but he wasn't as well built for NFL as Mike White is. Hopefully White will land somewhere that will actually use him, unlike Doughty who has been sidelined at the Dolphins for the last 2 years.

Looks like more than half of the best shooting % teams in the NCAA are from the so-called "non-power" conferences. So that doesn't make any sense. College basketball is college basketball no matter what conference they are from.

If you want to see Hollingsworth absolutely clutch this game, watch from 1:52:30 at the link below. He picks up a technical at about 4:40 (@1:46:00 in link) left in the game, which lit a fire under him. He sinks a go ahead 3, gets a defensive foul call to give their best player his 5th foul, then draws ANOTHER defensive foul call to give another Marshall player his 5th foul, then gets an impressive put back. Enjoy. 118453 – Stadium

Hollingsworth the MVP in the last few minutes. CLUTCH! I'm more excited about watching him develop over four years than any other player we have right now, including the two 4*s. He will be a great one.

Great game tonight! Ohmer started for a sick Lamonte Bearden. He played a lot better tonight than he had been. Hopefully he keeps the momentum going! What a great win. Diddle was deafening. That run at the end was the most raucous I've ever heard a crowd at any sports venue I've ever been to.

Haha I'm not as well versed in the history as many. Most things are available with a google, like those AP stats. But, yeah, I've heard that 1966 story a lot of times. WKU fans swear it was the worst call in tournament history. That WKU team had a legit chance to win the natty that year, but that call ended it early. That UK-Texas Western (Now UTEP, a part of C-USA as well) game was immortalized in the movie Glory Road. I used to love that...

Yep, #3 was the highest Western ever got in the poll. They've been in the Top 25 in 111 (9.6%) of all AP Polls, average rank (when ranked) 11.5. However, they haven't been ranked since November 18, 2002 (#19).

Stansbury just got a pretty nice boost in salary added to his contract today. He's older, he was born right down the road, and has been around the block plenty in CBB, so there is hope he will stay until he retires, but we have said that about plenty of athletics coaches in recent memory. Money talks and there is nothing wrong with that. We know he will be here at least another few years until his son graduates high school (just started freshman...

...which was Courtney Lee's last year at WKU, and is the first consecutive sell-out in conference play since 2001-2002. You can catch the game tomorrow vs Marshall at 6PM CT for free on Stadium. I hate to admit it, but unfortunately I think UK having a slight down year compared to recent history, as well as UofL and all the other stuff they are going through beyond just wins/losses, is somewhat of a factor in the renewed interest in WKU....

Tough one to lose. Dropped us from 34 RPI to 44, but we stayed at 46 in KenPom. Big home game against Marshall on Saturday, and then we play the easy part of our conference schedule until the last two games of the year @UAB and @MTSU. I could easily see WKU making this game back up. Out large bid not outta the question, but going to have to take care of business the rest of conference slate. Great atmosphere, agreed. Stinks that we lost, as...

Going to be a classic. Probably the biggest game in this 134 game series, perhaps. Both teams Top 40 RPI, with CUSA head-to-head tiebreak on the line, in front of a rowdy standing room only crowd that will be almost 8,000 strong. Tipoff is 6PM CT on Watch Stadium. You can watch it on their website here: 118383 – Stadium Or on their Facebook Live feed (has live chat): Live: Stadium College Basketball - Home | Facebook

Working in WKU's favor is also that they play the top 5 teams in CUSA twice each. They had the hardest conference slate in CUSA. With UAB, ODU, MTSU, and possibly Marshall all being top 100, that is a total of 8 in conference Top 100 RPI games. Comparing the post above mentioning Alabama and Michigan State, WKU with a possible 5-4 vs Top 100 is worse than Michigan State being 6-15? I know people joke about the "not enough quality losses"...
