  1. Could not agree more. Seems the Lincoln team's fall back has always been jacking 3's ... as if that was their only or best option? No doubt they have some that can shoot the 3 but my word what a terrific asset in the paint via the Wilks kid! She has great hands, nice moves, can finish and consistent from the FT line. Guess possibly her achilles is being able to keep up in a transition type game but even that is a stretch. Felt like this year the region was Lincoln's to lose. Great kids and great coach don't always win the prize.
  2. Congrats to Kennedy and family. She is definitely a quality player and will be a fantastic addition to NKU!
  3. Perhaps they will become a notch or 2 better sooner versus later as those 'internal issues' have been addressed ...
  4. Congrats to Coach Spivey! She has been in the program for quite some time and knows all about what it took to get the Mercer Girls Program where it is now. Hear Mercer Girls had an outstanding summer under her leadership also.
  5. Spoke with Anthony Epps @ the KY-IN All Star game in Louisville. He is NOT applying for the Mercer job ... at least as of then he was not and sounded pretty confident he would not consider. Don't know anything about Brewer other than hearing about his interest. Hard to think he would leave Bardstown?
  6. The coach he will be working for @ ISU (Vicki Hall), was very early in the recruiting of his niece and another Mercer player. She also worked hard to get her to commit to Toledo a couple years ago. Mercer even attended a Toledo Team Camp. So, the connection has been there for quite a while. Coach Hall will do great things @ ISU and the hire of Coach Souder can only help.
  7. My bad bro. I forgot each team only had 1 player and CLEARLY you feel Lexi H is the queen of the crop. Grudgingly, I easily/quickly agree with you that Lexi is a very nice player and congrats to her for earning a spot with DePaul. Conversely, you seem to agree with me that Robins is a great player. They BOTH can play. On the other hand, since the game is actually played with 5 players ... what in the world is your point? There is no "ranking" or "first chosen" on this team OTHER than Robins gets an assumed/automatic spot due to Miss Basketball honors. Beyond that, you are either on or off the list. Certain Coach Thacker has a list/ranking in his mind but no one other than possibly the assistants would be aware of it. Would seem the bur in your saddle would be Mercer and 3 players versus misinterpreting the All Star Roster announcement as a ranking. No one -- including me -- said any of Mercer's players (including Robins) are "better" than Lexi H. They ALL DESERVE TO BE ON THIS TEAM.
  8. C'mon man, that is just a crazy idea re the coach "should" only have 1 kid on the team! Perhaps if the coach for a given year didn't have a competitive team -- maybe. But the Mercer coach won back-back state titles for crying out loud!! Why punish the kids excluded or the all-star team via removing some obvious talent that would actually help the all star team? We wouldn't want great D1 caliber players to play on the all star team versus a state rival? Funny.
  9. No doubt this was as deep a class as there has been in years. Per an earlier post, while this was a deep class, it was an especially deep class re the guard position. Thought the team really needed an extra big and the Christian Co kid would have been the pick to fill that void. However, if that were the case, that meant probably another guard would have been taken off the list ...
  10. Agreed re Taylor. Have said numerous times what an outstanding player she is and the great year she had. On the other hand, this is a very guard rich class and thus a guard rich roster. Some were not going to make the cut. The Walls kid from Nelson Co was MVP for the West team ... and didn't make it either! Unfortunately, she is a guard as well. This doesn't help re the guard issue, however, was thinking this team could have used another big. The kid from Christian Co is a really nice player and a really nice big as well. She didn't shoot that well in the game from outside but was just about unstoppable in the paint. There is no doubt the practice during the day and the game following was only to find another 3-4 players. However, the kids that made the team are all nice players that had a great year. I happen to have a bunch of confidence in Head Coach Thacker. He's proven he knows what he's doing and been around the block a few times as well.
  11. KYhome -- Hate to get into too much of a critique/comparison of players and no one would dispute Scherr is a wonderful player with a super future. Agreed. However, you are incorrect re no other senior playing on the "higher" AAU Team. Souder from Mercer played on this same team you are referencing and earned some healthy minutes. No need to get into all the accomplishments Mercer received these last 4 years as they are well documented. Not going to knock Scherr and happy for her recognition. The real discussion is the irony of a sophomore making this list in a year where that senior class was (arguably) the deepest in memory if not ever. Best wishes & congrats to Maddie and Ryle! They will be a force next year(s).
  12. Ah, hydraman! We certainly find a point we can agree on. At risk of dissing a fantastic player via Scherr, I WAY find issue that she could find her way in this insanely deep, talented group of seniors. While how deep and talented can always be argued, this group of seniors is widely seen as uniquely gifted with numerous D1 kids. Hate to ever call out a single kid on a forum like this. On the other hand, thinking of the number of (equally?) talented seniors that did get passed up is perhaps the ones that could be offended? Oh well, in the end no biggie. Good luck and best wishes to all these great kids in their respective next steps!
  13. No one can dispute this '18 class is arguably the deepest/most talented of all time. A number of players this year would have made this list in other years without question as well. If there were gonna be any players added they would have to include some/all of the Mercer seniors beside Robins. What's remarkable about these kids is ironically NOT their numbers. Robins was barely the leading scorer on her team and her scoring average was only 14 ... and is Player of the Year. Their schedule spoke for itself ... other than successfully defending their 2017 State Championship, they also defeated other 2018 State Champions from Missouri (Incarnate Word Academy), Florida (Fort Meyers HS), and then Georgia (Westlake HS which is in largest class Georgia has and was defeated only once via Mercer). Obviously, it would appear I have a tad bit of argument/issue that Campbell was the best team this year. CC's 3 players were fantastic -- particularly Clos. Putting up 'unbelievable numbers' is also great. But just numbers isn't what gets the job done -- Robins for Mercer and Anthony Davis @ UK are proof of that. Bottom line is still this 2018 class were phenomenal players likely not replicated for many, many years to come.
  14. Hear the Ohio team is MAJOR loaded with mucho D1 players going to big time D1 schools!
  15. TEX 4 LEX!! TEX 4 LEX! TEX 4 LEX! TEX 4 LEX! TEX 4 LEX! TEX 4 LEX! TEX 4 LEX! Woo-Hoo! Congrats to a great kid not to mention a fantastic shooter!!
