Nick Saban did have an edge with the additional time off. His secret was he had numerous additional people on his "analytical staff." He still does; but most other big named schools also have "analyst" on staff. So there is no more true edge. I know it's hard for Oklahoma and Utah fans to understand this; but no one wanted to play in a meaningless sugar bowl game.

No power 5 team wants to play UCF, Boise St, Fresno State, Sisters of the south, etc. in a meaningless bowl game. It is a lose, lose situation. NFL hopefuls, if they decided to play, will go through the motions to avoid injury. And the rest of the team will just be happy to not be in class and lay up in a hotel for a couple of days. UCF will win this game rather easily, and they still will not be a top ten team.

I like him a lot. I think this is what Louisville needs right now. There's not a lot of fan fare and hype behind the hire. I think this gives him a chance to come in with the right assistants and get it done. Like someone earlier said; it may not be a home run but it is a really good hire IMO.

Always interesting with these types of mid major hires. It can go either way. He is accustomed to coaching kids that played with "chips on their shoulders", due to not being heavily recruited. For Louisville to keep competitive they will need better recruits than App State. I think he's a good coach though, his teams at App State were always well prepared and played really hard.

Because they will always be able to avoid playing a conference champ game and risk losing and missing the playoffs.

My friend you haven't watched Bama football this season. The Georgia game is not the norm for this offense. Tua's health will be a major concern, but if is remotely healthy they will score fast and in bunches like they have done for most of this season. Top scoring offenses in the country: 1. Oklahoma 2. Alabama

If Kansas put 40 on OK, why do you not believe Bama can put up say 60.

Why would that be a shock if they are a top 4 team?

That's not true; for most of the season Tua was putting up video game numbers against better defenses. Let's face it; the Big 12 is known for their wide open offenses and less than stellar defenses. Kyler has been phenomenal but let's not pretend that Tua hasn't been his equal if not superior for a large portion of the season. I don't mind if Kyler wins, I think he has been great. But is his numbers a product of a system or of the qb...

Washington's defense is legit. But that offense is atrocious. Bucks should take care of business. A disrespected OSU team will crush this Washington team

ND needs to keep this game close. I haven't watched enough of them to say they will or they won't. But for the national narrative moving forward; they need to keep this game close. The last time they were on this stage, it was embarrassing to say the least. The next time, they won't get the benefit of doubt.

They're not the only ones; I had Bama fans texting me saying that Tua should be benched for the 2nd half.

I think Kyler should win the trophy. It is what it is; Tua didn't play well, but positive he would have led the same comeback that Jalen completed if he hadn't got hurt.

Dull boring win for the Bucks. I'm curious as to what grantky thinks of this OSU season as a whole?

ALABAMA was never untouchable or unbeatable. That was a narrative presented by folks that don't watch a lot of Bama football. True fans of the team knew their faults and they all were exposed on Saturday against Georgia. Couple that with Kirby Smart knowing every detail about our defensive personnel and you get what you got in the game. BUT BAMA ain't afraid of nobody. Haskins and OSU's offense don't present the same problems as UGA's. I...

Ok you're all over the place. I never said ND was overrated. I think OSU, OK, and UGA are better teams. That doesn't mean ND is a bad team. My initial response to you was questioning Syracuse who gets a ton of credit for a close loss. And you're correct; that is my opinion. The good thing about it is ND is in the playoffs. They're gonna play a top 4 team, so we'll see how good they really are.

You did question whether UGA was a good team and Bama as well by pointing out "who have they beaten". I told you who they beat. You don't think the teams they beat are good. You're insinuating that the SEC is overrated. I showed you the committee thinks otherwise. As you mock Missouri; they have 4 losses, 3 of those to teams in the top 15. BTW they beat that juggernaut of Purdue that....well no need to bring up OSU's past. That top 25 BIG...

Yeah I'm not talking up OSU at all. I'm wondering why Syracuse is all of a sudden a juggernaut of competition. They don't have a good win. They feasted on a bad conference slate. Their claim to fame is a loss to Clemson. Which unfortunately leads to questions about ND legitimacy. As for the SEC; Bama has 4 top 25 wins...UGA has 3. Whether you think they are legit or not is an argument for the playoff committee. On a neutral field, I...

Why all the love for Syracuse. It is a well known fact that the ACC is horrible this year. They've feasted on bad in conference wins. Their best win is a loss to a Clemson team playing with their 3rd string QB. The SEC is solid this year from top to bottom. There are 8 teams in the CFB playoffs top 25 from the SEC. ND caught a break this year and made the most of it. They beat a fraud of a team in Michigan and the rest of their schedule;...

He left the team one week before. Hardly enough time to prep a 3rd string QB for play. They lost "the starting qb" to a head injury and continued on. It's a testament to the team.

Clemson's win against Syracuse is actually the best testament they can give as to why they are a championship caliber team. They literally beat Syracuse with their 3rd string QB, after the starter left the team.
