  1. Sorry. Short for Highland Heights but I meant to put Highlands. Sorry for confusion.
  2. 2 other returning seniors, Center Lucas Hughes and RT Mason Baesel have also played great for the Jags!! Hughes moved to center early in season to help out after only playing LB last year. LG Soph Christian Brown and the LT Soph Noah Rykel are playing well and will anchor the line for a few more years! Bright future for Cooper!!
  3. I thought Highlands and Cooper players showed great sportsmanship last night!! Saw both sides helping each other up after plays, especially Highlands lineman. Had a bad interaction with a HH fan pregame in the stands but after game, several HH fans wished Cooper good luck! I’m sure there was a little smack talk on the field but it’s football. Both teams were classy!
  4. Anyone from SW know how the two players who were hurt last night (I believe their center and QB) are doing? The one knee injury looked serious. Hate to see anyone hurt. Hope they are ok. SW and Cooper players both played with good sportsmanship and intensity! Congrats Jags!! Beat Highlands!!
  5. Very impressed with the game plan, play calling and coaching by Coach Borchers and the rest of the Jag coaches! Each week the team is well prepared!! Go Jags!
  6. Coach Barry is a big part of Jack’s early development as a football player! One of the best youth coaches!!
  7. Didn't know all this but he is doing a good job at Cooper this year so I guess it worked out.
  8. Was this referring to Cooper's Coach Borchers? Did he apply for the head coach position? If so, when? I had not heard this before. What happened? I would think he would've been a good candidate.
  9. Thanks! Didn’t read previous posts until after I posted mine! Glad we have this site to get HS information! Thanks Bluegrass Prep!!
  10. I'm not sure, like everyone else it seems, how or who determines who gets it. If it is just a popularity contest, then I agree on not splitting the vote. But if the award is based on statistics alone, just saying that both of them, like so many others, deserve the award.
  11. Would definitely agree with adding Cooper's Dante Hendrix to list, I also think you need to add his QB Jerod Lonaker. Only 8th NKY QB ever to throw for over 3000 yards in a single season! (3200 in 12 games.) Only 7th NKY QB to throw for over 200 completions in a single season. (Scroll down after opening link.) Prep Sports Notebook: Notre Dame volleyball player showing her net worth as team leader | NKyTribune If going strictly on stats, Lonaker led Kentucky at 6A from week one and finished there as well. 216 KY Football Stat Leaders Also finished second overall statewide for all QBs. (Tanner Morgan was sixth in 6A and 20th overall.) 216 KY Football Stat Leaders Jerod Lonaker Video highlights: 216 Highlights - Jerod Lonaker highlights - Hudl Not bad for a first year starter in a mix of good NKY QBs!
  12. Lonaker went to the USA Football Camp in Louisville over the summer. Coaches from Indiana, Ohio and Kentucky are contacting him to play. Hoping for good things to happen for him and all the other football players out there!
  13. For those interested in final stats for Cooper QB Jerod Lonaker: Lonaker threw for over 3200 yards, 202 completions on 352 attempts with 32 TDs with 7 INT. Lonaker also rushed for over 400 yards and 8 TDs. Cooper running back Jayden Jackson also rushed for over 1100 yards in the high powered offense. While breaking just about every school passing record, according to NKY Tribune reporter Terry Boehmker, Lonaker also became only the 8th NKY QB EVER to throw for over 3000 yards in a single season. He was also the only the 7th NKY QB EVER to complete over 200 completions. (Dante Hendrix caught about 70 of them, even when double teamed!) Great season for a great group of athletes. Good luck to all the NKY players in their collegiate pursuits and congrats to all those selected!
