  1. Well...not surprised, but was hoping for a different outcome. I thought to win this game ohs would need a special teams TD and maybe a fumble/int big return early in the game. Neither came, and honestly the SW front on both defense and offense owned the night. Kudos to SW they are a very good team. Ohs couldn’t get much going, receivers were locked down most of the night, add that to a massive pass rush and this is the outcome you get. Great year for the Red Devils. Pretty sure if you’d asked them in July if they’d take 10/3 and a regional final appearance that the players and staff would gladly take that. I thought OHS was classy in defeat, devils fans should be proud. Good luck to South Warren.
  2. Wow. Big time playoff game. I thought that both of these heavyweights had moments where they both were clicking, it just seemed like Owensboro answered any momentum shift with an even bigger play on offense and defense. Early on the defensive line was really giving BG trouble, but BG made some smart adjustments and starting running some delayed runs up middle and screens, but once they got in the red zone and field tightened up the Owensboro D seemed like they just imposed their will. I thought that Diamond Glover had his best game of the year, and he got zero penalties! Gough and Sorrells were everywhere, Greathouse was a beast, Grenier and Brooks were in the backfield and DB’s bent a few times but only really lost coverage on a handful of plays. In a game like this you have to weather a few storms, and OHS did that. I thought offensively OHS made play after play when they needed them most. Definitely missed #4 Hayden, and you could tell Warren was trying to find open receivers and had to hang in the pocket longer than usual for kids to come out of their breaks. The scrambling TD pass to Phillips and the 2 long throws and big catches to Morris and Owsley really were huge. Tre Green had a excellent return late to set up the strike to Morris and that really flipped the game for OHS. Gough running ball last 2 series was a thing of beauty. Owsley in any space is tough to handle, and I just thought the OHS playmakers (Owsley, Warren, Green) on O kept making them when they had to. BG is a very good team and a great program. They fought to the end, and proved that a championship team will not ever be easy to beat. Stats per messenger inquirer: OHS had 428 yards of offense Tre Green had 57 yards on 14 carries and 32 receiving yards Owsley had 50 yards rushing 142 receiving on 7 catches and 2 TD Phillips had 5 catches for 51 yards 1 TD Morris had 39 receiving yards and 1 TD Will Warren was 25 of 35 for 279 yards 4 TD 1 int I can’t say enough about OHS D. They should be very proud of their effort. 1 last point, the onside kick reception by Steven Stevenson was unreal. Small kid, got absolutely laid out on it, but held onto the ball, he can tell that story for years!
  3. Murray win. Shocker. I thought OC would have a running clock on them. Still not sure what happened.
  4. Nothing to fabulous. The Red Devils took care of business early. The running clock started with around 2 minutes to go in the first half. Several silly penalties that need to be cleaned up. Several starters sat whole 2nd half, and it looked like a few got a little banged up. Hoping nothing serious. Win and advance. Stats per messenger inquirer: Trevon Green 5 carries 76 yards 2 TD Monte Owsley 5 receptions for 95 yards and a TD Trevon Tinsley 20 yard TD catch Will Warren 11 of 14 for 192 yards 2 TD and 1 rushing TD Jaiden Greathouse had a big 44 yard fumble recovery for a TD Lukas Howell had a nice 75 yard kickoff return for a TD Good job OHS. Stay focused.
  5. Henderson is a very good running, physical team. Owensboro did not play at the level they have been playing and managed a 14 point win. Devils big played Henderson all night, continually had third and long etc..and then would come up with a big gain or TD. This game could have been over early. It was 21/7 at half and could have been 28 or 35 but Owensboro dropped a handful of balls and kept letting Henderson back in the game. Owensboro defense played well at times but were on the field way to much and had to play 4 quarters after wins over Christian Co, Marshall Co, Daviess Co, Apollo and Graves Co, where the game was essentially over in the second or third quarter. OHS had a key D lineman not playing and it hurt them on run defense. Overall though a good road win over a very tough Henderson. Nice to be able to not play your best and get the W. I thought Tre Green had a great game. If poking holes, I had counted 8 dropped balls and guy next to me had 7. And had another silly unsportsmanlike penalty. If devils do these things in playoffs they won’t go as far as they are capable of going. Stats per Messenger Inquirer and Henderson Gleaner: Trevon Green 6 carries for 46 yards 4 catches for 114 yards 1 TD Imonte Owsley had 5 carries for 24 yards and 2 catches for 87 yards 1 TD Austin Gough 1 carry for 2 yards 1 TD Ben Flaherty 4 catches for 28 yards Treyvon Tinsley 3 catches for 38 yards 1 TD Tyren Hayden 2 catches for 15 yards 1 TD Will Warren 15/30 for 282 yards 1 int and 4 TD passes
  6. All Owensboro last night. Red Devils are becoming very hard to game plan for. They have been winning through the air, but in a miserable, hard and steady rain for the whole game they showed opponents that the run is also a great piece of their offense. The line opened up holes all night against a good looking Graves County team and backs exploited it until the running clock early in the third quarter. Owsley was off the charts, Green was super solid, and Warren and Tinsley and Hayden still made them worry about the pass in the rain! Defense was superb, flying to the ball and getting penetration all night. Sales, Glover and Brooks were dominant. Gough at LB was everywhere and Brown came up with a huge fumble recovery. They were always around the ball. Stats from the messenger inquirer: RB Owsley had 148 yards on 4 carries with 3 TD RB Green had 120 yards on 9 carries WR Hayden 125 yards on 6 catches QB Warren 9/18 174 yards and 2 TD All of these stats were basically in 2.5 quarters. Defense held Graves to 141 total yards Not a ton of holes to poke in the devils performance, if there is any that I saw it’s a lot of dropped balls and they need to be careful with penalties, especially the unsportsmanlike calls. Those kind of penalties in big game can be the difference. Overall great game.
  7. The stats for the game, from the Messenger Inquirer are below: OHS Tyren Hayden 5 receptions for 117 yards with 3 TD catches Imonte Owsley had 8 receptions for 159 yards and 1 TD Will Warren was 18/31 for 385 yards and 5 TD passes and 2 int Trevon Green had 39 rushing yards and a TD OHS Defense had 8 quarterback sacks Apollo: Mariano McKenzie had 78 yards on 14 carries
  8. It was all Red Devils here. Had the running clock early in second quarter. Stats per Messenger Inquirer: Treyvon Tinsley 2 TD receptions 20 and 34 yards Trevon Green a 39 yard TD reception Monte Owsley a 57 yard TD reception and 55 yard punt return TD Austin Gough a 48 yard interception return for a TD QB Will Warren 8 for 11 for 191 yards and 4 TD passes.
  9. OHS DC stats per Messenger Inquirer OHS Warren 22/34 380 yards 3 TD 1 int Green 160 yards 10 carries DC Cambron 31/51 276 yards 1TD 2 int Newman 143 yards 22 carries
  10. Apollo Fan98, Great job, always enjoy reading your post. I was a little surprised at this game, but Apollo just came out swinging and looked great and did just enough to keep Catholic out. The Graham kid is a difference maker! What a game though, I love these regional and district final games. Hope Apollo represents! Cov Cath is a beast, if they can come out and shoot lights out they have a punchers chance.
  11. Great update. Completely agree. I thought preseason it was OC DC OHS Apollo in that order. Now it seems to have changed. Ive seen OC, and OHS play, watched OC kinda struggle against Bullitt in OIT, then watched OHS beat a decent Castle team. Its gonna be a good district tourney. I still think it comes down to OHS/OC in finals. But for now it seems OHS is best in city, Friday night will be a good one!
  12. Nah. I’m an OHS grad, but have a kid at catholic 4/6 campus. So I go to more of their games probably cause my kids want to be there. So I’d say I’m probably a fan of both now. Thanks for the update on Apollo interview. Who knows who they’ll get. But I’d think it could be a pretty good job if they can keep burns kids.
  13. It’s been real quiet until last week or so. So my guess is they have interviewed.
  14. I didn’t either, but lately I’ve heard the luster has worn off of him over there. Evidently several higher ups are growing tired of antics and treatment of players. May be looking for a way out? Good coach, but lots of chatter about other stuff. My bet is Ganaway or somebody from out of area. Just my 2 cents. I know nothing more than talking around town.
  15. Lots of rumors flying around Owensboro about this job. Edge to Ganaway to Morris to Gooch. Anybody know anything solid? IMO if they don’t go get Ganaway they are crazy. Connects to kids, knows the game, interacts well with players and parents.
