So is 5A the only class that Two of the Districts don't cross bracket?

Ok I see where you coming from. But what about those who play other sports that don't do travel ball or AAU? What about the kids that have had to work? Noticed I said June helps some. Not to mention the kids that are not camping that I frankly don't trust outta my sight for a month. I'm not saying June is a cure all. But I can teach you a proper stance to run in, tricks of the trade to improve your time. Work on Tech/Timing with my QB....

Agree that there has to be a balance with time off. Absolutely don't want kids getting burnt out.

What do you mean? For instance if I plan to attend a senior day camp let's say two weeks from now, am I supposed to sit on my butt for two weeks then go perform?

In response to your post...Not like I came out stating that if you don't practice in June then you will give up 48pts. You wanted to bring in rings and plays offs as it correlates to summer practice "an outlier of a comparison imo" so I mentioned the fact that the time off didn't help either. Because if what you do in June matters for rings then it should matter for giving up 48 to a team that turned around and got smoked by a team the...

Nice spin lol. Bottom line is some believe that June practices are irrelevant and some believe they are relevant. There's just as much pro for June practice as there is con. You sir just refuse to acknowledge the benefits. But the twist on my comments was hilarious, like I really laughed out loud!

I never implied that you start in June my position is don't take June away from those who want the extra work. Also that June workouts can be and are beneficial to some.

Really? Because camps run all the way through July. Furthermore an athlete can still work on perfecting their techniques during the weeks leading up to combines. The NFL prospects don't stop working in March either do they. No they work all the way to April and beyond to their individual senior days. So to imply that it doesn't matter for ALL athletes is asinine. Hard work beats TALENT when talent doesn't work.

Every kid is different. Different levels of motivation, styles of learning, etc...Each Coach has to know his players and what is going to be needed to accomplish their goals individually and collectively as a team. A veteran team with great leadership, sure time off indeed. A young team/new coach maybe a different scenario. I just don't think one out ways the other. Whatever A coach chooses, of course be effective. Perfect practice makes...

But they can get better. Why do you think college athletes hire professional trainers before the draft? Guess they should already have it down as well huh..

I didn't say it would. But you tried to make the point that doing nothing in June is what wins championships and puts players in college. I pointed out the opposite end of the spectrum

True. But depends on what your perception of benefits gained is...Could be my perception that if said team had spent a little more time on technical coaching in June then maybe you don't give up 48 pts in the state semifinals. Ijs

So when are these kids supposed to work on the activities requested of them at theses senior day camps and so on? I guess they just naturally know how to run a good 40, just blessed with great cover skills, born with proper throwing mechanics, gifted with ball skills...That's been my argument, some kids want the extra work.

Ouch! Better be part of that 5%. Still better odds than the 1% that make it to collegiate football. I'm not saying mandate it, but don't take it away from the ones that want to.

Don't know which kids some of you are talking about but the ones I'm in contact with can't wait for school to be out so that they can concentrate on their sport. I'm not going to tell the kids "no. Go take a month and half break". These kids aren't competing with the KY athletes they are competing with the Florida and southern athletes. Those athletes who train yr around. Times have changed, the game is much more competitive, kids are bigger...

Come on now, comparing apples to oranges. You know like I know that collegiate off season programs are hellacious. At least 5days a week up until spring games. And that summer packet ain't no joke either. Difference is imo, if you didn't come back in shape or didn't work hard, somebody was coming for your spot and your scholarship. Not as much competition in most High School, especially with Coach mom and dad pumping there heads up. So as...

Really? Because I know of more than a handful of assistant coaches or other teachers in the school whom are affiliated with these traveling baseball/AAU teams, and these same schools rent out their facilities to these teams. But it's not ok for football?

Why would you want to? Guys some of these kids are trying to become part of the 1% that go on to collegiate football...when do you expect these kids to get better? During season? Do some of you not know how much it costs a college for a four year athlete? About 100000$...In my opinion you don't get burnt out doing what you love to do.

Yeah I don't agree with this theory because if that's the case then why are they on the team? But imo it's like the spring practice argument. Teams that have the numbers do it and teams that don't have the number don't. But I don't think freshman football is dying. After all the state is not only comprised of small school football. Especially with more rural teams considering consolidating with other schools.

For larger schools we have to keep a freshman schedule. JV is for the guys that are on the borderline of being a varsity player. I'm not taking 30 extra kids to a JV game to pad the sidelines and give me a larger headache nor am I dressing these kids on Friday night. Freshman games teach these kids how to perform in game like situations with out going against kids that've been in a high school weight program for three years.
