  1. This will be your classic matchup Size vs Speed. The Tigers MUST contain the edges, something they were unable to do against the Rocks 2 weeks ago. If X can sustain long drives on multiple series this could be an interesting game. I feel like I keep saying this, but the secondary has to limit the deep ball another thing they seem to get beat on a lot. Look for #74 on the Tigers O-Line to clear space up the middle for Ridder and Taylor in the backfield.
  2. Regardless of the outcome, this was yet again another fun environment to be a part of. Seeing all the young kids playing in the field playing knowing that one day they wanted to be apart of this great rivalry is something special and fun to watch. We get caught up in the W/L, but these young men out on the field will remember these games for a lifetime and for most they will never play before a bigger crowd in their lifetime. As far as the game itself, Trinity was extrememly impressive at the skilled positions, WR's, RB, QB played a heck of a football game and will be hard to beat. The Tigers defensive unit couldn't contain the edges and once the rocks got to the outside it was game over. For St. X, they will need to find a way to open up the box now with Roshkowski out for the season or they will continue to find it hard running it up the gut just like this friday night.
  3. @LongTimeReader I'm starting to lean that way as well. I tend to believe that with rainy conditions and the ball being forced to stay on the ground more helps the Tigers defensively. With that said, I'm offically changing my prediction, first team that scores wins.
  4. Tigers will need to have a compeitive passing attack in order to win. Not sure of the status of B ROSH, but if #10 is out we have already seen what a weapon he adds to the offense. You can expect Ridder will do Ridder things athletically picking up yards on broken plays and Sam Taylor will run his butt off, but defense can't keep giving up the huge plays. If I was a betting man, I would take the Rocks +10.5 (24-13)
  5. Big game tonight, suprised there hasn't been any comments. Thoughts on how this one goes?
  6. There have certainly been female kickers for many years now, but there are more and more each year across the state of kentucky. I am interested if there has been any research completed on the amount of female participates in high school football for each state. While football is a male centric sport there are plenty opportunities for females to participate as well. Wonder what the next position we will see female numbers grow, my guess is long snapper - can't be touched or lined up over on snaps. On a side note, I was a 150lb kicker/punter and when a 275lb "monster" hit me it didn't feel good either, but you get up and get ready for your # to be called again. Not sure what the argument about weight is, you know what you sign up for when you put on the helmet and pads. Injuries happen in all sports, part of it.
  7. From brief research, No State Champion at least since 1998 has lost more than 3 games in a season. The exception to that being Newport Central Cath twice, Louisville Central twice, and the PT team that was mentioned. I would argue that with the current format that no 4-6A team will win a state championship with a losing record. Many of the better 1-2A can't get teams in their class to play so I could see a potiental smaller school making the nearly impossible happen. @plantmanky I also came across this head scratcher with the 2004 Highlands team. Results show they forfeited all but 1 game and ended up winning State 22-6 over Boyle. Not sure how that's possible.
  8. Long story short, Ryle pooped the bed in the 2nd Half. After holding a sizable lead, they forced HC to punt the ball inside their own 20 with less than 4 minutes to play to win the game. Ryle gave up too many big returns on special teams and let HC back into the game.
  9. Wanted to throw my 2 cents into the mix! I'm huge on tradition and my inital reaction was shocked, seeing something other than white or green as the primary color scheme. That being said, I truly thought the black jerseys looked sharp! Unlike schools that wear jerseys that have no school colors in them, X did a good job of integrating green and gold into the mix. As you touched on. something as little as jerseys can affect where a young man wants to go to school and if they beat a team by 40+ each time they wear the alternate uniform, lets get those cleaned up and ready for Papa Johns!
  10. We can all agree that X looked less than good in their first game of the season against the Knights. That being said, the Tigers look like a completely different team with the addition of Ridder and Rosh. Not having our #1 QB and WR clearly affected the team. Friday X not only controlled, but dominated in all 3 phases of the game and blew out Central about as bad as Florida beat Kentucky. That being said I do not see this being much of a game. X rolls in another snoozer 42-14
  11. I like what I hear @Tigerpride94! I can only hope your good source can turn into a great source haha Our return game so far this season has been decent, but with a proven talent like Rosh we will take it to another level. I look for starting field position to favor X by a sizable margin with this information.
  12. Ridder is a given this week, I am interested in if this Roshkowski talk is speculation or if this is 100% knowledge. I hope you are right, and if so St. X goes from #6 ranked in 6A to #3/4
  13. Would expect with Ridder back in the line-up, the X offense will finally open up the "flavor" of play calls. Maybe see a little vanilla/chocolate SWIRL action this week. CRAZY thought I know.... After a brutal opening schedule, I see X dominating this one starting at the line of scrimmage and carrying over to all facuets of the game. X 31- 13
  14. Good stuff @Purple88! I agree 100% the D stepped up HUGE. I rewatched the game yesterday and as I thought, Lex Cath did not cross the 50 at all the second half! I don't care who you are playing, that is impressive to keep a team on their side of the field. The other "group" that does not give enough credit for Friday are the Taylor parents! Sam and Jake Taylor both had OUTSTANDING games. Take those 2 out of the game and St. X gets beats with a running clock.
