My thoughts exactly. But on the flip side, the kid may very well just let the defense through without trying, since he doesn't want to play there. So I think it's really more like the kid decides where he wants to play, coach decides whether he gets off the bench.

I'm not worried about my birds. They'll be fine.

Coaching problem? The coach can force a kid to play the line? Kid thinks he's a QB still but won't see the field at that position, likely, ever again. You can't make him be a team player.
