  1. I STAND CORRECTED... I was informed by one who is much smarter than I(which are many) that what was apparently changed was not the rule but the mechanic of when the ball crossed the goal line the whistle was to be blown immediately to indicate ball was dead. On free kicks as well as scrimmage kicks...
  2. Didn't Holmes request to be dropped from 5A to 4A when Coach Lickert was there? It seemed they dropped out to get away from the two-headed beast ( Cov Cath & Highlands) only to be reacquainted when the next realignment happened...
  3. Doubt what you want. I remember it being a very serious incident with a very serious litigation which included Riddel, officials, the KHSAA a couple of schools. Right after this they changed the rule that ALL kicks crossing the goal line becomes dead. Rule changes come about to prevent incidents that have happened before WHEREVER they happen. Now whatever problem you have with NKY get over it. No one claimed that the world revolved around NKY. The only obscure thing here is your thought process...
  4. Sorry that I didn't make it more clear. The reason the rule was implemented (I believe) was from the incident that happened in Ky and thus the rule was adopted by the NFHS as a safety factor...
  5. In Defense of the KHSAA and the Commish, It is my understanding that years ago (when there were only for classes) The big three of the officiating associations Lexington, Louisville, and Northern Ky used to get a championship game assigned to them each year and the fourth game was given to one of the remaining associations in the state. One of the other associations sued or threatened to file suit and they came up with a more "fair" way to spread out the championship assignments. Therefore they pick 2-3 officials from each association. If anyone can provide more info or clarify if this is still the way they do it I think it would answer a few questions about the quality of officiating in the championship games...
  6. Thanks? I did not say it was only specific to Ky I was giving an explanation when and why it came into effect. Atleast as far as I can remember. I am not sure what point you are trying to make?
  7. By a good source I was told sometime ago that a certain KHSAA official picked his "buddies" that he officiated college games with to work the championship games before the season started which caused some animosity. When "politics" starts from the top, where do you think the changes need to start?
  8. The rule for ANY kicks crossing the goal line was put in place due to safety factors. If memory serves me correctly, back in the 90's a player was injured on a kick off (in NKY) during the playoffs. The visiting team kicked off after a score and the young man watched the ball go over his head. One of the kickoff coverage players hits the young man and caused a head injury. The discussion was about the play being over. Years ago coaches taught to play till the whistle. There was no whistle so play continued and incident happened. It was a major ordeal with the schools, refs, & the KHSAA. I won't state what the rule was called or any team names but you can look it up if anyone so desires. It's unfortunate that the refs got it wrong today but that question "what if" will forever linger...
  9. You cannot advance a muff in high school. If the ball is carried into the end zone by the force of the kick than it is a touchback no matter who recovers it...
  10. Have you heard of that little fella at SK Dillon Powell? You must not have...
  11. Again penalties haven't been an issue because you haven't had any competition for several games. You can get the facts about a game other ways than being there first hand. I doubted Smith ability only by what I've seen, heard, & read. When he shows me something than I will believe it. Absolutely no hating hear just the facts....
  12. I Maybe Bishop Bullwinkle from the First Church of Nothing but the Truth will show up and drop some truth on them...
  13. NCCs defense did dominate the game on a sophomore QB. That is a fact, can't deny it. If Danville comes and and takes my advice NCC will have a lot longer ride back to the lockeroom than Danville will have. If I am giving such bad advice to Danville why would you be arguing about it?
