  1. How many of the these blowout games were Big school vs Little School.... since KHSAA does not want to classify baseball LIKE ALMOST EVERY OTHER STATE... you are going to have this ....
  2. Yes there is some talent there but it is alot to ask for juniors and sophomores to step in and replace the production lost when they didnt see alot of varsity time .... district wise Russellville will be the favorite for sure and the rest of the schedule didnt lose a whole lot .. i think it will be a tough upcoming season for the Rockets
  3. They return about 14 juniors, but lost so much on both sides of the ball. They will only return 2 starters on offense (Center and wide reciever) and 5 on defense. Offensive production lost: QB 700yrd rushing/2000 yrd passing 32 tds, RB 500 yrd rushing/500 receiving 15 TDs, WR (3) 1170 receiving/9 TD.. Losing Best KO returner with 500 yrd/ 2 TDs... They have alot of juniors returning but they did not see much time last season.. so it is pretty much up in the air i think... losing too much on offense will hurt bad in my opinion.
  4. i know here in western KY.. we have alot of programs that have LONG time head coaches, here in Crittenden County our Head Coach (Starnes) is going on 25+ years, Mayfield's Coach Morris long time, Caldwell's Coach Barnes... plus here in Crittenden... all of Starnes assistants are his former players whom have come back and taken teaching postions and some that work outside the system to help ... the winning programs retain their coaches and the ones that struggle are searching for that coach that can work magic... look at Webster County 3 or 4 coaches in like 5-6 years.. it is tough to build a program when the top is so unstable
  5. The rockets do have some speed... not 4.6 or anything but very quick 4.7-4.8 guys...dont know much about Bethlehem... how do they handle no huddle getting plays off with in 5-10 secs of the play clock... the rockets can go quick and this gave Russellville some problems with cramps in the second half... The rockets kinda lost their way after the loss to russellville...went to Ballard Memorial and laid an egg in the second half... got the swagger back in round one..got back to having fun... 14 seniors do NOT want this to be their last game.. they want a shot at russellville again.. so we will see friday night.. see how they handle the long bus ride to Bardstown
  6. having just witnessed the Panthers in person at Crittenden... their running game is legit... #7 is a LOAD to bring down... one thing i did take away defensively they can/do get winded... might be they have not played into the 4th quarter alot this season but the hurry up offense that Crittenden got into in the second half did take its toll on them ... lots of guys going down with cramps (real or fake...hard to tell sometimes... just to slow things down).... if someone can speed up the game on them defensively it will take its toll....the key is to stop the run with them as they really do not pass at all (1 attempt at Crittenden) and to stop their return game (killed us last friday night 2 returns for TD's) they can be scored on so a shootout might be the only chance someone has unless their run game is stopped
  7. to your point about rules... high school soccer is just like football, players can be sub in play by play ... Baseball ... yes the 8 fielders will play every game and almost every inning in a season but to say 1 pitcher is going to win you a state title is crazy... once the post season starts games are played on back to back day usually or every other day... 1 pitcher can NOT pitch on back to back days as there are limits in place for that... per KHSAA B) Pitching Limitations 1) For purposes of this rule, delivery of a minimum of one (1) pitch constitutes having pitched in one inning. 2) A pitcher may pitch in a maximum of nine (9) innings in one (1) day, but not more than fi fteen (15) innings in any seven (7) day period. 3) If a pitcher pitches in three (3) innings to fi ve (5) innings, in one (1) day, that pitcher shall have one (1) calendar day of rest beginning with the day following the fi rst day a pitch is thrown. 4) If a pitcher pitches in six (6) innings, that pitcher shall have two (2) calendar days of rest beginning with the day following the fi rst day a pitch is thrown. 5) If a pitcher pitches in seven (7) or more innings in one day, that pitcher shall have three (3) calendar days of rest beginning with the day following the fi rst day a pitch is thrown. 6) This limitation affects regular season and postseason play So yes Baseball depth of pitching does come into play and alot of smaller schools may have that 1 stud pitcher but it drops off pretty quickly after that... i would be fine with 2 or 3 classes for baseball
  8. Rockets have a class of 14 seniors and 14 juniors, they run the spread offense (tony franklin system) which is a huge change from the usual ground and pound Al Starnes teams, the QB, RB and 3 WR are seniors the starting offense is 9 seniors and 2 juniors so they are "seasoned" the QB has almost 600yds rushing and 1300 yrs passing, RB's have two main backs one with 200yds and one with 300 yrds, WR have 3 with 200+ yrds and 1 over 300, one of the RB has over 300 yrs receiving, so offensively they can put up some points... defense does well all seniors and juniors 1 soph. 7 interceptions and 13 fumble recovers so they are aggressive only given up 171 pts in 8 games (Russellville by the way 179 pts) so i think it will be game friday night and hopefully my Rockets can SHOCK the Commonwealth since no one is giving them a shot
  9. as already said Russellville has only played TWO teams with winning records also and got thumped in one ... Rockets got thumped by Caldwell and the Union game was a 7 pt game into the 4th quarter so if you just look as scores then dont really know much about a team... combined records of opponents Russellville 18-48 (two winning record teams Butler 6-2 and Murray 5-3, Rockets opponents 22-44 (two winning record teams Caldwell 8-1 and Union 5-3)... So we will see friday night in Marion... settle it on the field
  10. I knew i liked your name Voice of Reason... District 1 comes down to Russellville and Crittenden and from what i have seen on here the rockets should not even show up.. but like you said if you look at the schedules and who they have played the Rockets opponents records combined are 22-44, Russellville Opponents are 18-48. Rockets two losses are to Caldwell County in a blowout and to Union County ... if you just look at the score of union game you go blowout... but if you were there and know that it was a 7 pt game halfway thru 4th quarter... So yes the schedules are very comparable .. Rockets have played 2 teams with winning records 0-2 with one closer than score indicates, Russellville has played 2 teams with winning records 1-1 with win being a 10 pt margin... I feel like the Russellville love is based on scores and last few years playing with Mayfield and the lack of love for the rockets being the past 4 years of being in 2a with Murray and Caldwell.. Just my opinion.. of course i might be biased but this will be a hell of a game friday night and hopefully my Rockets can prove ALOT of people wrong... as they say lets settle it on the field
  11. 7-Barren County 5-Todd County Central 3-Murray 2-Hopkins County Central 1- Monroe County TB-Murray
  12. 7-McClean County 5-Trigg County 3-Hopkinsville 2-Union County 1-Monroe County TB- Hopkinsville
  13. i guess i am confused as to the sos issue because everyone says that Crittenden has played low level teams... well looking at Russellville's games ... i think their sos to this point would be low level teams also... Trigg is 1-2 with a win over Caverna(0-3), Ft. Campbell (0-3), and Butler County (2-1) with a wins over Logan (0-3) and Edmonson County (2-1) but their wins are Caverna and Grayson... So i guess at this point the whole sos point is not a big factor in my mind... its hard to say what these teams will look like in a few weeks. If Crittenden can pull the upset against Caldwell (huge jump) or play close it should be a positive on the sos argument... Might be my Rocket homerness coming out
  14. 7-Central Hardin 5-Graves County 3- Owensboro 2-Greenwood 1-Grayson County TB-Central Hardin
  15. The Rockets are avg about 470 yrs a game on offense... realistically it is over 500 yrs a game since the varsity did not even play the 2nd half against Hopkins Central...Russellville's Running game worries me alot but i think we will have a good ole fashion shootout in late October in Marion for the District Title...
