  1. Interesting to note, no Trinity representation.
  2. 3. Just to throw some more numbers out there to discuss, I took the 6A stats leader information from KHSAA's website and calculated the passer rating using both NCAA and NFL formulas. Below are the top 10: First Last School NCAA Rating NFL Rating Hayden Shelton Male 198.11 137.08 Jacob Woosley Trinity 174.21 125.38 Peyton Burke Tates Creek 166.82 117.73 Andre Davis Bryan Station 166.23 117.60 Walker Wood Lafayette 154.54 108.50 Cameron Racke Simon Keaton 153.87 105.83 Adam Bouchard Daviess Cnty 152.11 101.76 Nathan Brown Cooper 148.39 99.91 Zachary Hardin Madison Central 147.56 97.29 Tanner Morgan Ryle 140.06 95.77 Obviously this favors schools that like to pass the ball but it is still reflective of the teams that are efficient at doing it.
  4. Understand. It was more of a rhetorical question. It's a good thread and I'm interested to see the other names that will be mentioned. Would it be appropriate for this thread to mention some players on the defensive side of the ball as well?
  5. How can you mention Male's offense and not include Zackery Smith. He has caught 17 passes for 507 yards and seven touchdowns.
  6. How about that 41yrd twisting catch by Manny Harper tonight?Definitely worthy of a top ten plays of the night. Also a nice run with a hurdle for a rushing TD by Jovan Smith in the 2nd qtr.
  7. I believe this will be the game/matchup that will allow for some deeper pass plays. I think T's offense will get over 400yds this Friday. Lafayette has some weapons on offense but I've not been impress with what I've seen of their defense. And despite the D1 players on 'Yette's offense I see T's defense neutralizing those players and overpowering the others. Overall another great team effort by the Rocks. Final T 49 - 'Yette 10.
  8. Great team win last night. Beatty and staff put together a great game plan that was well executed by the boys. Much like a heavyweight fight. BA is too good of a team to knock out with one punch so you have to worked the body and wear them down. Trinity did just that with their running game behind Reed and the OL pounding on that BA defense for most of the night. Then Jovan was able to come in later and finish them off. The T offense controlled most of the clock at almost a 2:1 ratio, 31:51 to 16:09. The 13 play 80 yd drive for a TD early in the 4th was the final blow to put BA away. The defense came up huge against a highly touted BA OL. The DBs did their part with with some interceptions. The hit by Rodjay right at the goal line to create the incomplete pass was huge. And I can't forget the kicking game and give a shoutout to Jay Nunamaker aka "Moneymaker". Another nice FG and some really nice punts. Best part is there is still plenty of room for improvement for this team on their journey to December. Go ROCKS. #Stay Hungry #Stay Humble
  9. Another week of prognosticating has come to an end. It's game day! I've enjoy all the different insights into both teams and I am now looking forward to a great game tonight and all the possible match ups. GO ROCKS!
  10. Let "The Money Team" have their moment. Trinity will #StayHungry #StayHumble.
  11. 1- 3 plays, 0 yrds, Punt 2- 14 plays, 80 yrds, TD 3- 6 plays, 13 yrds, TOOD Ensworth's 34 yard line 4- 5 plays, 17 yrds, TOOD Ensworth's 26 yard line 5- 7 plays, 55 yrds, TD 6- 11 plays, 94 yrds, TD 7- 3 plays, 18 yrds, TD 8- 1 play, 0 yrds, 40 yrd FG before the half. 9- 3 plays, 6 yrds, TD 10- 3 plays, 4 yrds, Punt (Back-up QB) The offense had 3 very good drives with some good plays made by Woosley and Reed to keep the drives alive. Trinity's offenses continue to get better as the season progresses. I feel this year's offense is further along and has a more balance attack than last year's at this time. BA will have their hands full containing this offense on Friday. However I'm a big believer in that defenses win championships and offenses just put points on the board. Trinity definitely has that kind of defense to do just that and I believe they will be the difference in the game again this Friday.
  12. Here's another nice write up on Ensworth for this season: Ensworth Preview Written by Clay Maddox @ Tennessee Prep Weekly • Ensworth Tigers • Hometown: Nashville, TN • District: IIAA • Last year’s finish: 8-1 Regular season, 5-1 in District; 10-2 Overall, Lost to MBA in finals • Head Coach: Ricky Bowers (12th Season) Coach Ricky Bowers and the Ensworth Tigers won 4 state titles in a row from 2010 to 2013. Since 2008, Ensworth has a combined record of 76 wins and only 8 losses, establishing themselves as a national power and the team to beat in Tennessee Division IIAA. The Tigers had another solid year in 2014 producing big wins over Trinity High School from Louisville, KY and Brainerd High School out of Chattanooga, and a solid 5-1 district record with a lone loss to McCallie before tearing into the playoff finals and falling to Nashville rival, MBA in a close 10-7 turnover and penalty-ridden game. For a team loaded with seniors and 10 eventual college signees, the Tigers faced an uncharacteristic regular season loss, but rebounded and showed well through adversity. As a program that has winning as a standard, the loss in the state championship game fueled a fire and quelled any complacency within the Ensworth program. This year’s Tigers are young with only 9 seniors on the squad. The coaching staff is looking for early leadership as they reload with talented youth and vie for another title run in 2015 and set the foundation for the future of Ensworth Football. Ensworth likes to play a methodical brand of ball control football on offense. The Tigers will look to run first and throw out of play action opportunities. A team that usually sets in a pro-I will adjust to several 1-back sets as they adjust to new skill players and find a true fullback in 2015. Coach Bowers’ teams will play hard and smart and try to avoid mistakes and penalties. The Tigers youth (4 sophomores, 1 freshman) doesn’t equate to inexperience. There are 4 returners on the offense, however several key role players from past seasons will be stepping into more permanent roles this fall. Quarterback Coleman Goodwin (6’3”, 210, Sr) led the team to the state championship as a backup in 2013 and will be taking the helm again. The Tigers run game will be built around speedy tailback Darius Morehead (5’8”, 170, Sr) and the big bodies and quick feet of center Blake Mitchell (6’2”, 275, Sr) and tackle Peyton Terry will lead the blocking on the line. The passing game will target the hands and speed of receivers Rodney Owens (6’0”, 180, Jr) and Brett Barnett (6’1”, 180, Sr). Defensively, the Tigers will primarily line up in a strike and read 3-4 set, occasionally adjusting to multiple other fronts to attack situational advantages. Inexperienced on defense, the season will start with simple, basic concepts and develop into more complex schemes as the season progresses. The Tigers have 3 key returners to the defense with several players moving to new positions or from former offensive roles. Expect 7 or 8 players to see significant playing time on both sides of the ball. The Ensworth staff feels that this approach will give them the best 11 players to generate high quality football, but it will also create multiple opportunities for younger backups to see quality minutes to develop and create rest for the 2-way starters. Mitchell and Terry will be joined by Owen Edwards (Sr) on the defensive front. Defensive back Jarquis Hendricks (5’11”, 185, Jr) and Moorehead will shore up the secondary with safeties Owens and Barnett. Setting the tempo and guiding the defense will be standout linebackers Patrick Rowan (5’10”, 180, Sr) and Jaylan Theus (5’8”, 195, Fr). Jaylon King (6’0”, 170, So) will see plenty of field time in a defensive back role as well. On special teams, Ensworth returns K/P specialist Colby Green (Sr) from 2014. The Tiger coaching staff has tough tests for its’ young team with early season road trips to Louisville, KY for another matchup against Trinity and Huntsville, AL to face 2014 Alabama state champion, Madison Academy that will set the tone and establish their meddle before the Division IIAA season begins. Winning is the expectation at Ensworth, and while young, these Tigers are not inexperienced. It will take a few weeks and some hard games against tough opponents for this team to settle in to their new roles and open up the playbook, but the leadership is there and, the Tigers expect to return to Cookeville to bring the title back to Ensworth.
  13. Have to be careful when searching on the internet. The scrimmage you describe above is from 2013 when Ferby who is now at WKU was still there at Ensworth. Here's a link to an article on the scrimmage: Quarles: Ensworth gives Maryville 'humbling experience' - PrepXtra Story Here's a tweet from @grantRamey on this year scrimmage: @grantRamey: Jordan Ervin 28-yard TD run to start second half for Maryville. Rebels lead Ensworth 42-14 in tv third quarter. 7/31/15 8:29PM. Haven't found a final score posted by anyone yet but clearly shows Ensworth doesn't have near the studs they have had in the past. I believe this will be the year for Trinity to notch a win against Ensworth.
  14. More on Ensworth from the Tennessean: Quote: “Our line of scrimmage is particularly youthful and we’ve got a little bit of an injury bug, but overall this is a fun team to coach. They’re eager to learn, energetic, positive and upbeat, and they show up excited to play. The competition is stiff … We play the Kentucky state champion (Trinity) and the Alabama state champion (Madison Academy), so that should be interesting.” — Ensworth coach Ricky Bowers.
  15. The Tennessean's Preseason Midstate Top Ten has Ensworth at 8. 8. Ensworth — The DII-AA runner-up Tigers, who’ll play a 10-game regular-season schedule for the first time in program history, will be breaking new starters at several positions this fall, including quarterback. Next: at Trinity (Ky.) Friday. A few more notes: Darius Morehead, Sr. RB/DB — 2014 Tennessean All-Midstate selection is one of just a handful of returning starters; rushed for 1,534 yards and 22 touchdowns. Coleman Goodwin, Sr. QB/OLB — Completed 12 of 18 passes for 152 yards and two TDs as a backup. Tim Covington, Sr. LB/RB — Ran for 230 yards and two touchdowns in a backup role. Patrick Rowan, Sr. LB/RB — Should see an increased role after registering 22 tackles and a fumble recovery in 2014.
