  1. Unfortunately, there is still not enough athletes all around to make much of a difference, it would be better, but still not enough. Team speed kills us and when we have it, we don't have size, vice versa. About the transfers, numerous kids have moved on to different schools prior to high school because of football. Not gonna name names as it's not my place to say.
  2. It's the Grant County mentality, excuses, excuses, and more excuses.
  3. I'm an adult and I don't understand it and will never agree with it. There's not one kid on this team that's happy or thankful about leaving the district (my opinion). They could go 10-0 and it's all pointless as we would never know where the team stands.
  4. Leaving the district only hurt them even more whether anyone will ever admit that or not. I would much rather play teams that will blow us out rather then play teams we should beat and still loose. Some would say that's pretty idiotic to say but I bet quite a few of these players would agree, all you have to do is listen to them. By leaving the district, no matter what your intentions were, the impression given to the youth is that they were given up on and simply aren't good enough. To get better, it starts with the the actual youth teams. The biggest problem with the youth programs right now is the parents. Kids can't get better if their parents don't bring them to practice.
  5. Chances are their not but being in a district actually gives you a shot, it gives the players something more to play for. One thing can be said about every Grant County team I have watched or played for, their tough and don't back down from anyone but I can no longer say that now and it's not the players fault. So say they rejoin the district after 2 years, what happens then if blown out? Unless some major changes happen and schools move classes, Grant will be right back in the same district. So why does it matter? It's about pride! Former player or current player, you should always have it.
  6. 2001, 2002 seasons district was Cov Cath, Highlands, Holmes, Scott then 2003, 2004 seasons were Highlands, Cov Cath, South Oldham, Oldham then 2005, 2006 season was Cov Cath, Highlands, South Oldham
  7. And it doesn't matter who coaches the team either, to me Coach Dazell is a good fit, been around a long time, just comes down to have those special players.
  8. They were in the district with Highlands, Cov Cath, Holmes, and Scott for two years, followed by Highlands, Cov Cath, Oldham, and South Oldham. I would say that every player that chooses to play will be motivated but what are we teaching kids these days? It's ok to give up when it's tough? Typical Grant County fashion when it comes to football though. Definitely not surprised by the decision. Yes the district record is terrible and what they have been doing, I can't say it hasn't been working, we just have never had the athletes to compete. When we have had the size, we got outran, when we had speed, we lacked size. Both of those scenarios were rare however.
  9. I'm sure the players are thrilled for this move. What motivation would any kid have now? To get better you have to play teams that are better then your team, not attempt to play a weaker schedule just to get wins that really are meaningless. Say a team goes 10-0, how do you celebrate that? A moral victory? We're talking three district games and a playoff game that would be rough so 7 other games that can be used to schedule winnable games. Leaving the district was never even an option nor discussed back when Grant first entered the district with Highlands and Cov Cath in the early 2000's. More kids have moved then the ones listed but I'll leave it at that, no need to list names.
  10. I can say as a former player at Grant, blow outs or not, this is a slap in the face. Basically the school quit, dropping out of district is not going to make the team any better. It's not going to help "build" the program, and will only push away more good players as they will "move" north. You all would be surprised how many former Grant County kids are playing for different Northern KY teams and I don't mean transferring from high school but before high school.
  11. Hopefully Grant can keep it close. There battling numerous injuries. If there offensive line comes ready to play then they should keep within a couple of scores. There line is what kept them from getting a win over Dixie, well several missed tackles too.
  12. I wouldn't think the officals would either however the first one was like ok it happens but the 2nd one just looked like it was done on purpose. Didnt seem like there was any intention to miss the kicker. Good game for Grant though, they had there chance to win it but couldn't hammer it home. Dixie held on and there running back had a nice game. Looked almost like a pin ball out there if only Grant would of wrapped him up. Dixie is obviously down this year but was still a nice showing by Grant to keep it close.
  13. Final. Grant had a lot of missed tackles. Good game overall though.
  14. Even with Dixie being down, if Grant can just keep it close it will be somewhat of a moral victory. Dixie shouldnt be overlooking them though or they could be caught by suprise.
