  1. Most programs out there beat people who suck worse than them. You won't find that in the "How to win" manual; everybody knows it, but few will say it and none will publicly.
  2. That's a whole lot of coaches if they've been doing it long enough. I've really never seen anybody be good with horrible talent. You can put lipstick on a pig all you want, but it's still a pig.
  3. Randy Wood left West Jessamine as an assistant back when they were both together to go to Morgan County where he had an 8-4 and 7-4 seasons. He then came back to West Jessamine as their head coach for two years where he had a 9-3 season in his last year. We aren't talking 8-4, 7-4 and 9-3 at powerhouses, but at places who more years than not have had trouble playing dead in a cowboy and Indian movie. Am I missing something here even greater? Did some homers hire and his all star staff want to come to Dunbar that PLD chose not to hire? Add to the fact that men seem to be fleeing these roles as is in droves to go along with the fact that finding good assistant coaches is even a greater task. What's not to like? I will agree that just because a guy played at UK or anywhere else doesn't mean he can coach, but if we say that then we also should probably apply that to college staffs because a whole bunch of those guys are way overrated also. Guess what isn't overrated though? The names of some of these guys. Those resonate with 14-18 year olds as much as anything. Throw in a couple of guys that can coach some ball and you might have something. Few staffs out there are stacked or even close. If you can have one or two dang good ones counting yourself then you're well ahead of the curve IMO.
  4. Lee County and Casey County meet up on January 20th @ Lee County if neither or both teams have broken their streak(s) by then.
  5. The Flexbone Triple Option is coming to Man O' War. Good for PLD and Coach Johnson. The band has gotten together again. I'm happy as can be for them.
  6. Their pay is a joke though for what they have done and what those around the program expect. Sorry Frank, I didn’t mean to sound like I might have came off. I just know what’s expected of these coaches; yet people have no idea the demands it takes on them or their families. Life is all above choices also, but at some point this bull has got to meet in the middle. Pay these men what they are worth or be dang thankful for what they have.
  7. Guessing you’re basing theirs off Highlands and Beechwood? Or maybe even CovCath; a private school who actually has their own facility and a 1st class one at that? I would hope so.
  8. Maybe so. Let’s see them. They are public record; even if the other places are up to 30K for the total pool; it’s still crap. Let’s say the NCC coach makes 9K which would be about par for a HC across the entire state right now. That leaves 14-15K for assistants. You’ll find many places (not just in NKY) that have only that and some with less.
  9. Seeing these stipends blows my mind even more to read the posts I’ve seen on here in regards to people complaining or saying that dad’s coaching was a problem. Seriously? They have a vested interest, so what if it’s their son(s)? Find men, better yet find wives of men that would let their husbands go for that insult of pay for the amount of time spent from their own families to go spend it with other people’s kids. You can’t or at least it’s becoming hard and harder to find.
  10. Par or better than most. Maybe one day these guys will get paid for their time and crap they have to deal with. You have jobs (premier) ones of late where only one or two current head coaches at other places have applied. Being a high school head football coach or any head coach, especially in this state, is one of the single most overrated “CEO” type spots on planet earth.
  11. It is, but others get in an uproar about parents choosing to allow their kids to use the maximum age allotted to participate within age laws blows my mind. There is nothing that says playing your senior year at 18; turning 19 in December is wrong or illegal just like there isn't with some who play their senior seasons at 17 & or turn 18 the summer they graduate. Both under the same umbrella of "mind your own" for me.
  12. Exactly. I don’t understand people that get tore up about holding kids back either. If all are done within the rules then why do you care? Worry about you and yours.
  13. I'm not sure about his exact age, but I'd say he's right around 50 or so which would make it right (27 years in; start teaching when your 22-25 right in there and there you have it). He has also been the principal at their middle school while being the head coach the last two years. It has nothing to do with the Russellville opening.
  14. Both are 4th Region schools. He’s held many hats while at Russellville to go along with being their head football coach. He was their transportation and Maintanence Director, he had also been the principal at the high school for a time, as well as Assistant principal and maybe even the DPP? His wife was hired as the principal at one of Glasgow’s elementary schools back this spring. Like anything else; the Education world has its own network and then some. He will be a great addition to the school district and I have a feeling that will also spill over to their football program in some capacity.
  15. There is a great bit a truth to what you said as a whole. Greenwood being in Bowling Green is very attractive, their boosters are very strong, the coaching pay in Warren County has gotten better & they are realistic there. The numbers in the program always seem to be strong and their weight room was just renovated while Seabolt was there. As for Russellville? Nothing more needs to be said.
