  1. HC was never in control of the game. The entire team didn't seem to be playing like themselves. Beechwood executed well and forced HC into some low percentage shots all night. No significant individual performances in this one.
  2. The 7th grade Force team was mentioned. I was just curious about the roster.
  3. Does anyone know who is playing with the Force this spring?
  4. What goes around, comes around. Congrats to the Indians. Holding Martin to 11 points was the difference maker for HC. While Holmes is the clear favorite in Friday's matchup, expect a very close game as the Indians will have home court advantage and the revenge factor.
  5. Great game to watch. Simply put, the Rebels made the bigger plays down the stretch. They controlled the tempo of the game well in the second half. HC couldn't put the ball in the basket, and they missed a couple easy lay-ups in the final minutes of OT. This may seem like a bad loss for the Indians, but I saw a lot of upside throughout the game from many different girls on the team.
  6. The bottom line is this: the crazies provide an atmosphere that is unparalleled in the state, and it's fun for both teams on the court. There is no "negative energy" in yelling at the opposition when they are in-bounding the ball. If obscene comments were being made, I could understand any concerns, but there are no reports of that happening to my knowledge. To the point of intimidation, that is the entire idea behind a student section. It's a part of home court advantage. Leave the crazies alone, and let them do their thing. As long as the refs are okay with it, you should be okay with it as well. IMO, more schools should attempt to emulate the crazies in the future.
  7. Interesting, long, and heated thread all in one. With no direct ties to the 9th region, I still have a strong urge to say Kes Murphy is without a doubt the best coach in the 9th. Months ago, the same people now bashing Coach Murphy for "gathering talent" were congratulating HC on an unbelievable run to the state title. Seems a bit harsh in my eyes. The bottom line is very simple. HC has done what no other 9th region team has been able to do. Yes, they had great players, but it took time for Coach Murphy to coach that team up to being a 9th region power. From what I saw at State, his team was unbelievably disciplined on the defensive end of the floor. Each team they faced had a very difficult time scoring the basketball. That doesn't just come second nature to great athletes; that is purely coaching and he did a fantastic job all week. There are several phenomenal coaches in the 9th region. However, if I had a daughter, I'd want her playing for the coach who I believed would develop her into a successful college player. Ultimately, Murphy is the guy who can do that. Great coach, even better person.
