  1. I played 6 on 6 in 1978 1979 in Tennessee. I was in Middle School and my Freshman year we went to 5 on 5, ie what they called "Full Court". In the 6 on 6 game every jump ball was a real jump ball and it depended on where you were on the floor as to where you jumped it up.. There use to be a full circle painted on the floor at the freethrow line and that is where the jump ball happened if you were on that end of the court. You could not cross the line at half court and if you did it was out of bounds. Sometimes you threw the ball in from the jump circle too. It was a very different game with some very different plays and skills. I totally disagree with the comment about the fast pace.. Now where near as much running.
