Because, call me crazy, but that should be a fundamental right in America. If someone is willing to pay you to do something you should have the ability to either accept or decline the offer. I don't care if it's playing basketball or scraping gum off the streets. If someone is willing to pay you for it, you should have every right to do so. I don't understand how anyone would be against that idea.

I will elaborate on minor league baseball. It does serve a purpose as far as developing players. More so than any other lower level professional sports league, but if they were losing money doing it there wouldn't be 3 levels of the minor leagues.

The reason there is minor league baseball and D League basketball now called the G league, is because they can make money off of it. The NFL has tried minor league style systems in the past like NFL Europe and there just wasn't any money to be made in it. Football is just a different sport in that regard.

True. But they should have the right for someone to pay them to play football.

I agree. I will say there won't be a single NFL team who takes a chance on a HS player, but I agree they should without a doubt have that right.

I think FSU was just living off the reputation of last year and how the defense finished. Is this team better with Francois? Of course. But they are probably a fringe top 25 team with a record somewhere around 6-4. But if Francois doesn't get hurt against Bama he probably gets hurt in another game. That O line was supposed to be better it's regressed.

I never asked them to not value the win over FSU. But I don't think any realistic Bama is going, "Oh yeah we knocked off a 4-6 team. Wooo!"

Not every 5 star player will choose to go straight to the league out of HS. There will still be the players who want to go to college for a year or 2 to develop.

College basketball will be better when you have players who want to be there. You think a player like Marvin Bagley reclassified because he couldn't wait to play at Duke? Hell no. He reclassified because he wants to get to the league sooner. Marvin Bagley doesn't need to play college basketball. If you eliminated the one and done you would get more players who opt to stay 2-3 years and develop.

The funniest thing is the people who want the kids to stay in college don't care about them they only care about their team.

The NBA draft should be just like the MLB draft. You should be able to see where you get drafted and who drafts you. If you don't like it you can still go to college.

If someone is willing to pay you for your skills at 17-18 years old why shouldn't they be allowed to? Who are you protecting? You certainly aren't protecting the kids. You are only protecting the pockets of billionaires.

Very interesting. What would have happened if Lauren was the vote last night? She would have in theory voted for herself. Would they have put a fake vote in for someone else?

I keep seeing the argument about "Valuable". Can someone please explain to me how Votto could have helped the Reds win more games than they did this year? You can't judge valuable in baseball. You can only judge the production you have day in and day out. It's not like basketball. One player can't carry a team. If you want to go "valuable" then an ace starting pitcher is always more valuable than any position player and they only impact 20% of...

With UCLA now open, UF doesn't have any leverage. They have to be proactive with Kelly.

UCLA has fired Jim Mora. We should hear Chip Kelly's name tied to this job as well. UCLA has a ton of young talent as Mora has been recruiting well. It would be the type of job where you could compete for a conference title your first year.

Leach is a great coach but an odd dude. It would have to be the perfect fit AD wise. He definitely doesn't fit with any of the jobs currently open. Maybe if Dan Mullen leaves he could find his way to Starkville, but that's about it. He would be a better fit at Nebraska if they fail to land Scott Frost.

Actually Mayfield didn't really get recruited by OU. He went to Texas Tech and started as a true freshmen. Left TT and just showed up at OU and asked Coach Stoops if he could earn a spot on the team.
