Cut out student loans and you have no colleges. I understand colleges are spending money left and right. It's ridiculous how much they are building. Hell, UK has built like 15 new dorms in the past 3 years. It's crazy. But they are also admitting a record number of people as well. I understand what you mean, but back to the topic of the thread.

That's a health care issue not an insurance problem. Insurance companies are just trying to cover their losses.

College tuition is rising because the costs for universities are going up not because they are attempting to make a larger profit. They are covering their losses while retaining the same profit levels.

Insurance companies do not regulate the pricing for health services. That's undeniably false. If they did it would be much cheaper. You think they like having to pay massive claims?

The only historic precedent of free market capitalism is that it flourishes until government interferes. Trickle Down Economics is the best ideology for both consumers and businesses.

Nothing is going to make it drastically cheaper. Only reducing the quality would do that. What can be cheaper is the access to it. Healthcare is expensive and it's always going to be expensive. American Healthcare is like a Mercedes Benz and much of the rest of the world is driving beat up pintos. You need to be able to get health insurance, you shouldn't have it provided to you for free.

You said insurance period. Didn't specify health insurance. Either way hope you don't have a major health issue in the future. Do you have an extra $60,000 lying around to have a major surgery?

Some money is better than no money. Cut regulations and that money will be transferred to employees.

Nobody would ever buy a new car, nobody would ever get a loan, everyone would live in apartments. This is what you want?

Thanks for taking the time to post this. I think the choice is rather clear. But people don't want to face facts. Medicare has to be cut in some way, the age raised, etc. People are living longer and thus staying on government benefits longer. I can't stand the fact that money comes out of my paycheck that I will NEVER see. This drives me nuts. I think the next healthcare bill should focus more on making sure insurance can be found cheaper in...

I have one and love it. I really like to pan sear steaks (NY Strips Primarily) and then sear on one side, flip then place in the oven while still in the pan. I have probably cooked ~50 steaks on mine and it still looks brand new. I only use it for steaks though so it holds up longer.

To me the answer is always some where in between. I think the government should leave the actual insurance to the private sector. But maybe include something like the FAIR plan for auto insurance where if you would typically be unable to procure insurance in the private market place for being uninsurable, you can be assigned to a insurance company. That way the insurance industry spreads the load of uninsurable people across themselves to...

I could've been more gentle with my comments, but how does anything get accomplished without critiquing. I could go on and on about problems with government spending but with respect to your opinion about what the intent of this thread was about I'll bow out as well.

Hogwash. 20 trillion dollars of national debt. The last thing the government needs is paying for more than it already does.

What are you personal thoughts on healthcare coverage for Americans? What role do you think the government should play in that (if any), and how can we truly make healthcare more affordable to more people without crippling the basic, capitalistic, free enterprise system that makes this the greatest country in the world?

When I was 12 my summer baseball team went up the Dreams Park in Cooperstown. There were 96 other teams there. How the tournament worked is you played 8 exhibition games, were seeded based upon record and then had a single elimination tournament. Well the teams that made the final 4 all flew in pitchers that weren't there all week just to pitch in the tournament so they had fresh arms. This has always rubbed me the wrong way.

Depends on the amount of the gift cards and where they are too. If it is in the budget (not really sure what that is) then get fitted for the clubs. If not I can probably make a suggestion or too.

This is just a philosophical debate to be had here, but if you want to be a great golfer learn to hit a controlled fade. Too often you see guys struggle with a miss both ways because they are constantly trying to fight the fade because a draw goes further. I think is part of Rory's problem right now. He is trying so hard to hit that perfect draw that he isn't playing golf he is playing a swing. The past two US Open champs have torched two pretty...

IMO these two are the best athletes to ever play golf. That's not to say that either could have potentially played another sport professionally or anything, but just raw athleticism is booming with those two.

I don't. I would be fine with seeing just Pebble, Bethpage, Merion, Oakmont, Torrey, Shinnecock, and Winged Foot. That's enough variety where you don't get bored seeing it.
