Okay, thanks for the clarification. Witschey is a quick back and has always played right with the class ahead of him. The next three years should be good for him.

I guess they figure the sun at 4 pm will be less interesting than one earlier during the full eclipse. But yeah, doesn't make a lot of sense.

Thanks for pointing out the bolded. That paints a different picture than what one may think when first hearing of the number of interceptions. The QB can't be blamed for that (you obviously are not, HB). Was the backup running back you mention Chris Collins? He is a tough kid and seems to get the job done.

Boone Co did an all-call and told parents about the danger, that no one will be allowed outside unsupervised during school. No recess for the little ones. And parents needed to provide glasses for the students or they would not participate in any activities involving viewing the eclipse. Also, kids wont be placed on buses before 4 pm so parents could pick them up earlier if they so choose. Football practice not until after 4 pm.

On the way home I was listening to the radio and they attributed the late TD run of 80+ yrds to Chisum. That is inaccurate. It was Kyle England. It was late in the game. So subtract those yards and the TD from Chisum's stats. Cam Butler looked big and athletic. It also looked like he was tracking Chisum everywhere the RB went since it became apparent the passing game couldn't hurt them. The bolded statement is probably correct. ...

Cov Cath has the QB to lead them a long way. He is the real deal. He was money tonight. Passes were right there and when he calls his own number he is hard to stop. Big, athletic, good arm, accuracy, just plain good. There were two questions that Ryle needed to answer: could the QB do enough to keep defenses off of Chisum? and was the defensive backfield better than they looked against Trinity. Tonight, the answer to both questions...

Go early to QS&L on Mall Rd, eat some wings (my favorite is the chipotle dry rub), Stop at the UDF near Haines Dr. for some ice cream, check out a book at the Scheben library, then head to the game. I can't guarantee the outcome will make you happy but the pre-game routine will have you in a great mood when your backside hits the bleachers.

That's a long way to travel for an opening game. I'd be asleep along the way and never would quite wake up. Good luck to the team from Erlanger.

Cornerbacks are Rytlewski and Cusick, correct? Zach has lots of experience and Cusick is very athletic with good fundamentals. Did anyone see him plant the Trinity receiver with a perfect form tackle in the scrimmage?! Text book tackle. He'll learn as he gains experience. The safeties are pretty good too. I think they had trouble against Trinity because Trinity is that good. They will look better against NKY teams. I think the...

I wanted to comment in this thread as I read through it but then as I kept reading, it got ugly. I don't mean to participate in that at all but I do want to add my observations. The bold statement above is where I think CC is. Having seen them in 7 v 7 early this summer confirms this opinion. However, they have had time to develop and perhaps the offense will be more efficient as the season starts. They will need a strong running game to...

I'm kinda torn. Boone has a bye so I thought I'd go see Ryle vs Cov Cath. But lately the Highlands vs Cooper game has my interest. Cooper didn't show much in the one scrimmage I saw so I want to see for myself what they were holding back.

This season is the beginning of the turn-around. FA and the draft were their best in a loooong time. Browns also added a defensive coordinator that will make a difference. The development of DeShone Kizer will determine how long it takes to be a consistent winner and make the playoffs (wow! that was a mouthful).

I love the discussion. CWB did a great job of putting together his list and others are offering their opinions. It's hard to include every deserving player on a list like the "players to watch." So I appreciate when others draw attention to a deserving player that did not make the list and provide their reasons. This is called dialogue, which is what a forum is all about. Don't change a thing CWB, or you won't get the input from so many...

I also thought the Trinity NT was a beast, #93 if memory serves. He was as solid as they come and could move. He repeatedly made things difficult by getting penetration into the backfield and he could not be moved by Ryle's O-line. I also saw Bisek move to center and he and a guard double teamed the NT.

TheDeuce, I don't think this is a fair assessment of what was said in this particular case. Apparently P.P has some personal knowledge about this man who committed this heinous act of terrorism. His personal knowledge of the person apparently leads him to conclude that he had some mental issues and perhaps those issues also include a mental handicap for which he was placed in the Special Education tract in school. The only person who...

I have no idea but the QB that started the game for Scott had jersey #5. That may mean nothing given that Boone wears practice jerseys and the players generally don't have the same number they will during the regular season.

Yep. 20 - 0 varsity score after 3 periods. Boone varsity played the whole 3 quarters. Let's just say they didn't appear to have the same energy today that they had on Thursday. I really don't take a lot from this scrimmage except that our kids battled through it. A couple of dropped passes by us would have helped field position and added energy, but for the most part it was what I expected from the varsity. Thursday against Cooper was...

I didn't see the game but talking with a Ryle parent of a freshman Trinity scored almost every time they had the ball. Ryle scored once at the very end of the scrimmage. It was tough going for the young Raiders but they kept working hard. The boys from Louisville have quite the organization. Talent top to bottom, organized, and hustle. Just one off-handed observation, their DBs hit the receiver on every play. They don't give them a...

Why disparage Ryle for scrimmaging Trinity? Its reasonable to believe they will improve by stretching themselves. Whether they beat Cov Cath is up to the two teams on the field that night. Hopefully, if you are a Ryle fan, their players will grow into their positions from being exposed to a solid team all across the board. I'm sure Cov Cath has done several things this off season to improve as well.

Yes they will. Not least because they played in a very physical game on Thursday. I imagine the muscles will fatigue quickly as they haven't had enough time to recover yet. In addition, Scott is on the rise and have some very good players. My understanding is they can be very physical. Thanks for this. That's the way I remember it. Armour has my admiration for taking on a very difficult position without a lot of...

I didn't see theguru and therefore didn't meet Footballforever74 either. Then I struck out completely because I went to the press box to meet Fear the Nation and he wasn't there. Turns out he was down on the sideline just before the game started. I did see him come up and talk to his wife but I didn't bother him then because the game was about to start and I figured he needed to be ready with the video camera. Next time FeartheNation. ...

I would say Highlands will score often in this one. As Hellbird pointed out Boone was one dimensional. If Highlands can get some outside running and a bit of a passing game going along with running up the middle they will score often.

It was not a peel back block. Peel back is when you are out in front and you see someone coming behind you and you change your direction to blind side the person. This was a sprint across the field in a lateral fashion to block the player who was about to make the tackle. I watched it on film in slow motion. The blocker crossed in front of the pursuer with his head and got his shoulder pad into the player on a perfect form block. The...
