1. No matter who the Browns pick in the first two rounds they will get ripped by the journalists and analyzers because, well, they're the Browns. Maximum grade they will receive is a C+.
2. The lead-up to the draft is the time when the most "fake news" occurs among sports journalists. Example... Sources say there is a split among the Browns coach and player personnel evaluators on who to take with the first pick. Sources say the Browns...
Boone County was senior laden last year. A few underclassmen started and several others got playing time. So this will be a team that is young and inexperienced. The coaches will need to get this team ready for game 1 and then hopefully the team and individual players will settle into their role quickly.
The linebacking core will return two starters. Dylan Ward started at OLB. He will be a senior next year. John Mark Shutt led the...
Here's an article by the Cleveland Plain Dealer's online web site. Terry Pluto is the author.
Why did Mitchell Trubisky start only 13 games at North Carolina? -- Terry Pluto (photos) | cleveland.com
I don't know if any of that would make a GM more comfortable in drafting Trubisky in the 1st round, but fwiw.
I get your point. I guess that's why I titled my post in the football forum "NKY up and comers". That way the class didn't matter, just that they were taking a step up in their contribution to the team from last year.
To each his own.
Because few expect freshman to enter into a discussion of varsity baseball so the thread is on sophomores. I think that those players who are even younger can be mentioned if they are playing as well as some sophomores.
If the poster had said: "The best sophomore is actually a junior," then that would have violated the point of the thread. The idea is to highlight younger players who are coming on the scene. If there were an...
Geez Mustang, I hadn't even seen this yet. I didn't know you followed Cleveland sports that much. All of my drum-beating for Otto Graham as the GOAT must have swayed you :lol2:
Here's what the mystery players attorney said:
Kevin Spellacy, a lawyer for the player, dismissed the woman's accusations, telling WOIO the woman is an "opportunist."
Spellacy tells WOIO that the player was never alone with the woman and that three witnesses...
There is a level of intimacy that comes with sex that teenagers are ill-equipped to handle. They just haven't matured enough emotionally. When that attachment is broken after a longish relationship there can be real difficulty in dealing with it. Abstinence should be taught, girls need to be told how to say "No" and boys need to be told to respect their dates enough not to push the boundaries of physical intimacy.
mexitucky makes a very...
Thanks for doing something productive with your pain. We can help others who experience similar hurt and sorrow and in this case, bring awareness to an illness that is so misunderstood. Perhaps someone will find the help they need because you brought it out into the open.
Boone County HS was senior laden last year so they will need a lot of "up and comers". I do not know the 2016 junior class as well as I know the sophomore class. So let me begin with the Sophomores.
Tevin Merritt is an OL and is a big strong kid. He started 10 games last year for the varsity and will only get better in 2017. I don't know if he will play a role on defense.
John Mark Shutt started 11 games at MLB as a sophomore and...
What about Conner, Dixie, Campbell County, NCC, Cov Cath, Boone, BW, Lloyd, Walton Verona, Holms, and others? And the Highlands report seemed incomplete.
I would love to hear more about our local teams.
I remember Charles from the Steelers. He was an excellent athlete. I didn't think he would get big enough to be a DE. He must have been working hard. He was a terrific person and I am not surprised by his work ethic.
BTW, that Steeler team had incredible talent. We had 4 RBs that would've started for any team that year. The Head Coach wasn't too shabby either!
Great start guys! Keep it coming. Even if your team has been already mentioned you may still chime in and give us insight into the coming season. There may be others on your team who will make contributions that have not yet been mentioned. If you are like me, you're only a parent and don't have a well-rounded perspective on the program so another fan's perspective is helpful.
It'll be fun to watch for these young players this fall and...
We all know about the returning stars from last year. I'd like to hear from fans who the players are that we didn't hear much about about last year but whom you expect to make significant contributions to your team in the Fall 2017 season.
For instance, I went to the Ryle v. Cooper playoff game last year and heard a few names on the loud speaker that I recognized from Pee Wee days. These were players who were sophomores and didn't...
lol. I subscribe to the axiom, "Shoot the first boyfriend and word will get around."
I know... your opinion of me has not been helped by my reply but I hope you recognize a bit of sarcasm and lots of hyperbole in both of my answers.
My answer to the OP is "No, no way, don't even ask. Do you understand where this is leading? etc."
Never swim near a person fishing from the beach.
Been to New Smyrna Beach a couple of times--shark bite capital of the U.S. A reporter asked me if I was going to stay out of the water due to the shark bite the previous day. I told him I was all the way from KY and hadn't seen the ocean in years so, no, a shark bite the day before wasn't gonna keep me out of the water. It didn't.
Smoke screen is right. Anything seen in the press leading up to the draft is smoke screen. NOBODY will get a scoop. I think the real question is what do they do at #12. I am pretty sure they take Myles Garrett at #1.
I actually want them to stay at #1 and take the best guy available in the draft for once. The last several drafts have cured me of trying to get the QB. I don't even want them trading the #1 for multiple draft picks. I...
