They signed Hunt for $1 million for one year (depending on how many games he is suspended. After that year, he is a restricted free agent, meaning Cleveland controls his rights after that. This was strictly a business decision. They got a pro bowl caliber RB for 1 million dollars. Dorsey was the guy who brought him to KC. He did a lot of vetting of Hunt in that process and must feel like they can get enough good things in place around...

In addition, I believe Ryan has been the freshman coach at Cov Cath the last two seasons. He is a top notch guy. He is focused on the student athlete and truly has their best interest in mind. He trained my son and a friend at AAATC for about three years. Mainly they worked with bands and a push sled at first, when still in 8th grade. After my son's sophomore season I asked Dan if he would do weight training to build him up for the...

We still need a full report from Cooper, Cov Cath, Highlands, Conner, Dixie, Beechwood, Campbell County, Newport, Walton-Verona, etc., etc. We are interested to hear the opportunities provided to the young men of our area and beyond because of their hard work and athletic ability.

The headlines I am seeing are saying that Gurley wasn't injured, just under utilized. What is the story here? Why did he barely touch the ball, 11 touches for 34 yards? CJ Anderson had 9 touches for 34 yards. They say it wasn't due to injury or by game plan but that they didn't have many opportunities with the ball. I don't believe that. Gurley is one of the best backs in the NFL. I think I heard that he led the league with touches...

Tomorrow, February 6, is national signing day for high school seniors to sign with a college football team. I would love to have a thread where we keep track of all the signings of high school seniors. There have been a smattering of announcements all along, we have one now for a 2020 grad. That is usually done for the D1 athletes but there are a lot more guys in our area playing in college than those who go D1. So I am proposing we make a...

It is a no-brainer, an 0-10 or 0-9 team does not deserve to be in the playoffs. I could not believe it when I first heard that Boone's 0-10 team had a playoff game. It gave my son his first varsity experience when he was a freshman. He got to tackle Collin England from Ryle. But it really was foolish for Boone to be in that game. So count me as one who would applaud any attempt to keep the opening playoff games between teams who earned...

Gannett in Cincinnati has been on this track for at least 10 years, probably more. I have a friend who works for them. The last ten years his job has been at risk. At one point they actually laid him off, but within a short time realized they couldn't do it without him and had him come back. He is doing the job of several individuals, knows his luck will eventually run out, and often has to tell people they have eliminated their jobs. He...

We did not look at Mt. Union. I am well aware of the school and their very successful football program. I would say it is probably the top D3 football school in the nation.

Malone University in Canton, Ohio announced February 1 it is ending its football program. This will save them $1 million annually. They are in a restructuring process designed to eliminate a $2.5 million structural deficit over the next two years. National signing day is Feb. 6 so Malone announced it earlier so recruits could go somewhere else. They will honor the scholarships of any athlete that wants to remain at Malone. My son and I...

UKMF mentions a couple of really good defensive choices for the award. That's quite an accomplishment by James, a safety for the Chargers. LB Darius Leonard is the only defensive player among the 5 finalists announced by the NFL. There are 3 RBs led by Barkley. He is joined by Nick Chubb of Cleveland, and Phillip Lindsay of the Denver Broncos. Mayfield is the only QB among the 5 finalists.

It's only part of my argument. I get your point, but yeah, I think it is fair. This is a team sport so if a player elevates everyone around him like Mayfield did, it counts in his favor. I would not feel like Mayfield was robbed, if Barkley gets it. A strong case can be made for him. BTW, the Pro Football Writers of America already named Mayfield their ROTY.

The NFL will name its Rookie of the Year on February 2. Name yours now and give us your reasons. Here are some of my thoughts: Baker Mayfield surpassed the rookie record for TDs in a season previously shared by Peyton Manning and Russell Wilson. Each had 26 TDs in 16 games. Mayfield had 27 TDs in 14 games and 14 INTs. In addition, he threw for 3,725 yards and a 63.8 Comp %. His overall passer rating was 93.7 He is the main reason...

I only remember one dunk, but there were many layups and a foul. Cov Cath literally did anything they wanted in the first half and Boone had a hard time working the ball in for a bucket. RJ Summers had a coupe of nice buckets in the post for Boone. Parker Kyle and Parker Fields supplied most of the offensive action for Boone. Sr. Yazan Orabi got several minutes in both halves and was Boone's best bet at making Cov Cath alter a shot and...
