I would think win-loss record in regular season games would also be apart of an HOF profile. I don't know how Nick Foles looks in that criteria. Let's say, you win two SB's by coming in during the playoffs and winning out or take over a team that is winning under another QB who gets injured at the end of the season and then lead them the rest of the way to a SB, but have a lot of other seasons where your winning pct. is a bit over average...

The Browns defense was good early in the season. Then many injuries rendered the defense suspect, but Mayfield was keeping them in games and winning some. The running game was very mediocre early on. Chubb has had some nice games and his contribution was key this week. But the biggest story is the way Baker Mayfield has led this team. He is the reason they are now winning games and not losing close games. He is rightly being highlighted in...

I think you stated his legacy well, if the scenario plays out that the Eagles win another SB with him at QB. He will be known as a less than successful QB for most of his career but a guy who came in during clutch time to win it all 2 times. It is a remarkable feat and he should be given due credit. Also, by other reports I have heard, he is a pretty good human being (however, I don't know much about him). That also should be a part of...

99 tackles is crazy for a D-Lineman. That's a good get for Mt. St. Joe. I'll bet , D Coordinator, Coach Thompson, is very happy with that!

Here's to hoping TheDeuce is only half right! But stepping back from this thread for a moment... it has been a long time since the possibility of the Browns tying for the AFC North lead with three games remaining in the season could even be contemplated. It is possible. And with Baker Mayfield, Cleveland is becoming Believe-land again. It's going to get real fun to be a Browns fan again in the not-too-distant future.

Things are moving in a positive direction in Cleveland! It's been a long time since you could legitimately say that. The hire of a HC is really important for this off-season. Got to keep the momentum going in the right direction.

I saw an article on Profootballtalk.nbcsports quoting Falcons coach Dan Quinn saying he wants more players on the active game day roster, which is currently at 46. He thinks 50 may be good. One reason is because there is no developmental league and he'd like to keep more guys (kinda what I mentioned above as a drawback of having to clear waivers before returning to the practice squad). He also thinks it would make it safer for the players to...

The roster size is 53. They are allowed to dress 46 players for game day. In addition, they are allowed a 10-man practice squad.

This makes the GM's job and Personnel Director's job one of constant vigil during the season. If they activate a player from the practice squad due to an injury at his particular position, then want to place him back on the practice squad, my understanding is they have to release him from his contract and hope he clears waivers before they can sign him to the practice squad again. You can lose a good player that you are trying to keep and...

It makes sense that the minimal roster (53) is driven by economics and imposed by the owners, as per rjs4470 in post #6. Economics is calling the shots, not necessarily what makes for the best football or the best for players. All of life must be balanced between the way you would do it if money were not an object and the way the realities of life dictate.

I've not really thought about this before but the Browns defense has struggled with injuries. Gregg Williams had a defense that created a lot of take-aways, keeping the Browns in games and giving the offense many opportunities to score. The defense was the strength of the team. Then the injury bug hit and suddenly, the defense was a question mark. LB Joe Schobert was out. He is the one who made defensive calls. Then Kirksey went out...

I wondered what had happened at KWC football. Our interest was on the recruiting trail and at a May visit Coach Holsclaw gave a pretty confident speech to about 100 recruits. I liked a lot of what he said. He spoke a lot about building character and that when football players leave KWC they are better men, etc. One thing he said kind of didn't sit right, "I'm not paid to win because if that were the chief criteria I would have been...

I'm sure he is on Dorsey's radar. There are several connections between Green Bay and Cleveland. Brown's GM Dorsey, Assistant GM Eliot Wolf, and VP of Personnel Alonzo Highsmith all were in the Packer's organization.
