I am not sure what you mean by that. Do you mean to eliminate boys track and field and girls track and field so that there is one track team? No segregated basketball teams either or soccer teams. Think of all the coaching jobs that will be eliminated. That would be a disaster. Most girls wouldn't get to play and would stop going out for sports. This would eliminate nearly every scholarship opportunity for female athletes, thus making...

Thoughts = I am thinking of you and this may lead me to do something for you, like provide a meal during a time of grief, etc., but know I am supportive of you and aware of your situation. Prayers = me asking God to do for you what I can't do and only He can.

Cauvay (sp?). He is a very physical back. I do not know his parents. Thanks. The varsity team does have some respectable players.

The one you are thinking of is the kid that is injured. Boden-Bender is a really good LB and RB. And he is a very good wrestler. I don't know how his wrestling season is going to be effected by his injury. Vastine is the larger RB. Both of them are big, tough kids who are hard to bring down.

Vastine is correct. They have another equally good RB that did not play last night--Boden-Bender. He may be better than Vastine. He is faster and runs hard. But both of them are very good RBs. They also have a really good lineman who didn't play due to injury. Boone has a good freshman team.

Boone Co has a solid freshman team. I am not sure of their record but they have beaten several area teams. They lost to Cov Cath last night by a score of 28-20. Boone's best RB and Best lineman were out with injuries. They hold promise for the future at Boone. Btw, they are all freshmen, except for the 8th graders playing up.

The Browns are 1-21 under the current regime... a front office consisting of Sashi Brown and Paul Depodesta, and Head Coach Hue Jackson. Some Browns fans are calling for a change due to the dismal beginning for this regime in terms of wins and losses. There is also indication that Hue Jackson is getting impatient and pointing blame towards the personnel guys for the inability to win. After all, they unloaded some talented older players, like...

Last year Boone Co's strength of schedule was rated at 2nd in the state. So it mostly depends on the year.

Adding girls to the mix won't change the likelihood of abuse occurring. It seems to me this is a) an attempt by the BSA to get more members since they have been in decline. and possibly... b) a further step to eliminate perceived advantages for males or perceived slights to females.

My point is whether it is recognized by such as the military schools and their recruiters. Do you know if The Gold is taken as seriously as The Eagle Scout and is given the same weight on applications for acceptance in the military academies? I am trying to understand the reason for the Boy Scouts to begin allowing females to join its ranks or why a female would want to. If the BS would provide an advantage in some way that the GS do not...

There may be something to this. I wonder what a recruiter for the Air Force Academy, Naval Academy, or West Point thinks of the two achievements. I know the academies like the Eagle Scout award and the Boy Scouts because it shows achievement and taking on assignments successfully. Just like in the military where you must achieve in lesser assignments to receive more responsibility and earn a higher rank. Whether Girl Scouts and its highest...

Pioneer.Pride, You asked this question in the prediction thread and it closed before I could answer: "OG, is there any reason for optimism in the Boone youth program for the future? Is Coach Steel and staff investing for the future?" I don't know enough about the new youth league that has come out of the former BCPWFL. I think it has gone to an alignment with the particular high school where the kids live. They now play other...

Looking at the film, they got the call right. I don't know which ref made the call, but it ended up correctly. The kid was short of the first down marker and Boone took over on downs.

It actually was a close game until 9:00 remaining in the fourth quarter. The first quarter ended 0-0. Boone managed a couple of first downs to start the second quarter but stalled out and punted. Cooper couldn't generate an offense and punted. Boone likewise stalled out and punted from their own end zone. Cooper took over at their 40 yard line and Witschey ripped off a 30 yrd run. He followed up with a 10 yard jaunt for the TD...

I can help you on this one. The LOS was the 4 yrd line. The kid never crossed the 5 yrd line when he threw an overhand toss. It looked like a basketball shot--a fade-away floater from inside the foul line. Fooled everyone in the stadium. But it was by the rules.

It was a forward pass. QB scrambled back about 10 yards and threw to the receiver who was closer to the line of scrimmage, yet still behind it. futurecoach is probably correct.

Clarification of the rules: Cooper has the ball on their own 33 yrd line. They hiked the ball and run a play that appeared to be an option play to the left. Boone had it covered so the QB reverses field and is about to get hit by a LB. He tosses the ball over to the right sideline into the hands of a receiver (Schlarman) who catches it at the 32 yrd line. There are at least two offensive lineman (#s 75, 50) beyond the line of scrimmage (one...

It was 8-0 before I could get in the stadium. Boone went three and out and SK ran one play from scrimmage while I stood in a long line. I could hear the PA system. Boone had a lot of players out with injury, though I don't know how much that effected the execution (no, I'm not implying Boone would have had a chance to win or even scored a point on offense). I do think it wouldn't have looked so easy for SK if we had less on the injured...

Yep, due to fall break. I'm not sure when this was changed but I didn't know until last week. Boone hasn't had much of a run offense lately. If you had asked me about this game a few weeks ago I would have said Boone Co would win with a power run attack. During the summer scrimmage the Rebels ran with success. However, Boone has regressed and it appears Cooper has taken a few steps forward. It's not just that Boone has...

I agree on both counts. That was my point. The attempted tackle was a poor attempt and was an obvious penalty. Better not to have tried in that case. The own goal was so close in that it was difficult to clear. I felt bad for the boy. Whatever he tried to do, it looked like he kicked it straight into the back of the goal.

Boone helped the opponent out on first, an own-goal, then a penalty in the box that resulted in a score on the penalty kick. The penalty wasn't even close. The kid just came from behind and ran into the Brossart player. That was all she wrote.

Cooper at Boone was moved from Friday, Oct 13 to Thu, Oct 12. The reason is because fall break is next week. Problem is that we just found out today. There is no rule against playing on the Friday of fall break. We did it last year.

Well let me distill it down for you. To blame the breakdown of the African-American family structure on slavery and racism doesn't explain the relative health of the black family for the 9 decades between the Civil War and the war on poverty. All of a sudden, in the 1960's things fell apart. Seems like the catalyst was policies surrounding the War of Poverty. Various census data was cited and other supporting data. Some analysis,...

Well, look at it this way. Somebody posts three or four times and addresses different things. Some of us post once and address them all in that one post. :lol2: IMO, a long post that raises issues and then addresses them with fact and analysis is better than just dropping an assumption without proof and thinking you were very persuasive. If my previous post is weighing you down, I suggest you just go to the link provided in the middle...
