Vikings Assistant GM George Paton is in Cleveland for a second interview for the GM job at Cleveland. He worked with new Head Coach Kevin Stefanski for 13 years in Minnesota. Assuming Paton can gel with Chief Strategy Officer, Paul DePodesta, hiring Paton would give Haslem the alignment he cited as a primary criteria for his hires for HC and GM. Andrew Berry of the Eagles is also a finalist for the GM position but I assume Stefanski would...

The officer decided not to press charges and it is likely the NOPD will rescind the arrest warrant. I guess "No harm, no foul."

I was listening to a Cleveland area sports podcast today that was interviewing Andrew Kramer who is a Vikings beat writer. Kramer said that Gary Kubiak went to the Vikings because Kevin Stefanski became the OC, not because of Mike Zimmer or anyone else. They met years before through Kubiak’s son, Klint, who was an assistant with the Vikings. Gary Kubiak was eager to mentor Stefanski because he knew Kevin would listen, learn, and gain from...

Smart. If you're not going to show him or breed him, then the mark is of no consequence, except to add character. Also, reading about the difference between an English and an American Lab, it seems like another good choice. Is anyone on here planning to hunt with their English Lab? Just curious about your experience with that.

You're such a killjoy futurecoach. No reason other than I want him here and he and Stefanski would get along well.

This is exactly my thought. It is realism. I would love to see the season wind up as some others have suggested. There are some really good kids on the team that will give you everything they got. For their sakes, I'd love to see a giant step forward this season.

Stefanski should make an effort to bring Vikings' Assistant HC and Offensive Advisor, Gary Kubiak, with him to Cleveland. I don't care what capacity as long as he is working with the offense. In effect, it was Kubiak's offense that Stefani ran in Minnesota. The former HC and OC may not want the OC position at Cleveland. His job with Minnesota was less demanding and he liked it that way. He advised and others put in hard work and long...

Very similar to what happen to Cleveland though the Colts were pretty sneaky. Art Model told the Mayor of Cleveland he wouldn't discuss a new stadium until after the season. Then he announced the move to Baltimore during the season. Traitor. I am with you regarding the Colts. I do not abide disloyalty to a fan base. I do not respect the Colts franchise since they left Baltimore. Even though I think Peyton Manning is a great QB and...

Btw, I liked Henry coming out of college. "He is what I said he was," to modify a phrase from Dennis Green who meant it in a very different way.

You want to talk about a grudge, try having your franchise leave your area and go to Baltimore and have to watch them with so much success over the years, and have to wait 5 years to get your team back in your city, and then struggle worse than any team or fans deserve. I hate the Ravens, even if Lamar is phenomenal.

I am happy with this choice by the Browns. I think they got their man. I believe he was their top choice all along. They passed on Mike McCarthy last year and I don't think he was among their top choices this year. They liked Stefanski last season but he had only called plays for three games at that time and Dorsey preferred Kitchens. DePodesta got his man this time. Let's see if they bring Andrew Berry over from the Eagles as the new GM.

Cleveland.com reporter, Mary Kay Cabot revealed that the Browns have asked permission to talk to Colts Assistant GM, Ed Dodds. It is believed that the 49ers DC, Robert Saleh, mentioned Dodds as a possible GM to pair with him when Saleh interviewed for the Browns Head Coach position. Dodds is widely touted as an up and coming GM. This would indicate that Saleh is among the finalists for the HC position. However, the Browns have also...

Josh McDaniels was interviewed for 7 hours today. He left town with no announcement. The Browns decision makers are huddling in Cleveland, hopefully, coming to a consensus. It is expected that they will make a final decision this weekend, though the announcement may need to wait until their guy is done for the season. McDaniels was the last of the 8 candidates to be interviewed. Only one, Mike McCarthy, is unavailable because he was hired...

McDaniels could be the best candidate available at this time because of his years in New England running the offense, but he also has the most question marks in my mind. His record as a HC in Denver was 8-8 in his first season and 3-9 in his second season when he was fired following the 12th game of the season. But that was 10 years ago. The other troubling sign is the way he backed out of the Colts HC job to stay at New England after the...

The reason I say what I said in post #31 is that there are some really good and serious candidates left. One I haven't mentioned much is Eric Bieniemy, OC from the Chiefs. What I have been reading is that he WILL be a Head Coach in the NFL. He's just looking for that first opportunity. He's done well as KC's OC and had a significant role in developing Patrick Mahomes into something pretty special. He comes from the Andy Reid coaching...

Cleveland is the only franchise that is currently looking to hire a HC. It looks like they have their pick of the remaining candidates and can take their time... meaning they can interview as many as they want. Perhaps they will get it right this time.

It was an interesting development today when the Panthers hired Baylor's Matt Rhule as their new Head Coach. It was believed the Panthers were very interested in Josh McDaniels and Kevin Stefanski. The Giants and Browns also registered interest in those two coaches. But with the Giants asking to interview fired Cowboys' coach Jason Garrett, the picture is getting jumbled. McDaniels was supposed to interview with the Panthers today. So,...

Point taken regarding Belichick's assistants. Regarding Head Coaching experience. The difference between Kitchens hire and someone like Josh McDaniels or Kevin Stefanski is that Kitchens was a position coach. He had zero experience as a coordinator until half-way through the 2018 season when he went from quarterbacks coach to Offensive Coordinator in game 8. When the off season arrived and the Browns needed to hire a Head Coach, they...

Panthers hire Baylor HC Matt Rhule. That makes it more likely that the Browns will have a shot at Josh McDaniels, who interviews with the Giants Wednesday and the Browns on Friday (assuming the Giants don't hire him) or Vikings OC Kevin Stefanski. The Giants also intend to interview fired Cowboys coach, Jason Garrett. Stefanski was a finalist for the Browns job last year as he "blew away" everyone in the building with his interview...

I think McDaniels and Stefanski are their top choices. I'm not sure how interested they were in McCarthy. They could have had him last year and he was not in the top two or three choices then.

Thanks for posting this, Mr. Sixer. I remember Michael from the BCPWFL Knights. I think that was when he was in 4th grade. He had such a great competitive spirit. I remember a game against the Chargers that went into overtime. Michael, at RB, willed his team to victory. He would not be denied on the goal line. Great kid. Of course, he became a fine young man playing the game for the Cooper Jaguars. He and his family are first class...

He sure did. The Bengals need him. But his remark after the game, "We have bragging rights!" meaning the Bengals have bragging rights as the best NFL team in Ohio is a bit overdrawn. First, you split with the Browns. That's a tie. Second, you finished behind the Browns in the AFC North division. Third, you are 2-14 on the season. You have NOTHING to brag about. Unless you brag about who has the first pick in the draft. But believe...
