  1. I did the numbers and in 2013 (the last time I could find a published list) approx. 33% of the girls soccer programs in the state belonged to the KHSGSCA. There were 96 total all state slots. Twelve 1st team, 12 2nd team and 24 honorable mention X2 for east and west. Of that 96, 69 were members of the KHSGSCA and 27 were not. By my calculations, 33% of the schools accounted for 72% of the all-staters. Of the 27 all-staters who came from non-member schools there were 8 who played for region championship teams. That leaves 19 kids who made all state out of 96 who did not play for region winners or member schools. Haven't gone down to the district champ teams but you are getting close to single digits. The math is pretty clear. The surest way to get picked-all state is for your program to win and be a member of the KHSGSCA.

  3. Talked to a few coaches and they told me that the all-state teams are chosen by the members of the coaches association. Last time i looked less than 20% of the coaches belonged. Costs very little to join the association. I feel bad for the players who are good enough to be all-state but their programs can't sacrifice a few bucks and some time to support their kids. Those kids bust their tails for their programs. Why can't a coach go the extra mile for their kids? If someone has a complaint about the system. Take it to your coach. As for the guy who said a good player should have some level of college offer, you don't know much about the process. I've seen a number of kids good enough to play college and never got an offer. The majority of the time is because they don't want to.
  4. Sacred Heart got beat by West Jes earlier in the season. West Jes is ranked higher by all the polls that I have seen and has played a tougher schedule. West Jes has a tougher path than Sacred Heart. Owensboro Catholic is undefeated. West Jes and Owensboro Cath should be a game to watch. Either team could go all the way.
  5. Is there anybody from region 9 that can beat ND except ND?
  6. The KHSAA website has the OC girls in a 2-2 tie with Bethlehem and the boys losing to L-ville collegiate. Its a big deal if the OC girls tied Bethlehem. They are making a huge run. I have them in the final 8. They have left everybody in Western Ky. in their wake. One little blip was a close one against Glasgow. Didn't see the game but Glasgow can pack in the defense and keep it close when they want to.
  7. The Maher site claims an average of nearly 90% accuracy in forecasting the winner of a given match over a multi-year period. Should be a useful tool in scheduling matches to develop a team.
  8. Don't know if you all have seen these but I like to see how my team is progressing. Maher Rankings | Kentucky High School Soccer Rankings KHSGSCA
  9. I really enjoyed the field at Henry Clay. Nice stands and facilities. Adequate parking. Good surface. Unfortunately the field is not dedicated to soccer.
  10. Heard the same thing. I found a twitter feed that said Tates Creek girls lost to Greenwood 2-3 and beat Male 1-0.
  11. I can find the schedule just can't find the scores.
  12. Thanks. Finding a team will not be a huge problem. Finding the right team is more of a challenge. She has gotten positive feedback from some teams and requests for her schedule. Your site has some good reading on northern kentucky teams. I have enjoyed browsing and will continue to follow. There are folks on here who have forgotten more about soccer than I will ever know.
  13. My daughter has been attending ID camps around Kentucky this summer and really liked Murray State. Their new 1st time head coach, Jeremy Groves, assisted at Morehead State which has done well in the OVC. Murray has had a pretty rough time and Groves has his work cut out for him. I think he is starting out against U of L in their new stadium. My kid will be a junior this season so we have time to see what his first season or two look like. She is going to do well academically where ever she goes but I want her college athletic experience to be positive to. Coach Groves seems like a good guy. Lipka has got to be a good mentor. Has anyone from this neck of the woods worked with him and what was your experience. It might be fun to get in on the ground floor of rebuilding a program. I don't want to stir anything up on my first post. Only looking for information.
