And that just about sums up the totally broken system revealed by an insider. The shocking reveal was the apparrent indifference, or sensitivity to the importance of the recognitions by those in charge. Just a shame.

Just a sidebar, but Travis Atwell's coach at Hancock County was current Male coach Chris Wolfe. Coach Wolfe's 1st head job after playing LB at Campbellsville and Highlands HS. 2018 QB Garrett Dennis and 2014(?) QB Hayden Shelton join Atwell as finalists under Wolfe's tutelage.

One more option to consider might be every play is subject to video replay. If any ref blows the whistle all 2/3 (whichever) huddle at the scorer's mandated video screen to carefully scrutinize what generated the whistle and ensure the call's accuracy. Perhaps each ref could wear a video cam to provide multiple viewpoints. Or, maybe we just trust our present refs to do the very best they can and hope they learn each time they know they've...

Was both a basketball coach (many years) and varsity high school referee (one year). I say that to let readers know a little from where I am coming. I never walked off the court happy as a referee with the job I had just done. I knew every rule, and I hustled my butt every minute on the court, but as one of a two member crew you cannot be in position to be 100% sure on every call you make. I left refereeing because I am a perfectionist and...

Jim Schue, I think you laid out the perfect explanation that the AP Award process is broken and simply needs to go away. Hope the coaches can be unbiased and run with this ball in as serious a fashion as they diligently coach their teams.

Could not agree with you more and this is why one renowned professor at U.K. refers this never ending efficiency process as "dumb sizing". In the name of cost cutting to make your processes more efficient make decisions that impair the quality of your product's demand. As demand shrinks further, more cost cutting steps are sought out and implemented that invariably make your product less attractive shrinking demand again. Rinse and repeat the...

Got my wish list and got Tom Coyne's latest..."A Course Called Scotland". A pure treat and must read for any golfer that has been fortunate or has hopes of playing the game where it was born. Special read to be read in small bites despite my desire to consume it at one setting.

Hear your pain and would whole-heartedly suggest get a professional fitting before you invest in new clubs. No question we are not physically what we once were and that dictates the need to play with the right equipment. If you are from NKy I can give you a good suggestion. The fitting technology available is ten-folf superior to fittings of the past. Don't quit on the game, just enjoy the journey that still can be rewarding.

No knock intended on Josh Moore at all. He does do a good job with what I suspect is minimal management support. I truly believe if LexHerald was committed to sports they would have figured out how to cure the deadline cutoffs so that most outcome reporting would actually be in the next day's paper rather than two days after. The AP award is so untimely and decided by such a small group of writers with limited exposure to anyone outside of...

LexHerald treated this award almost as a non-event with the announcement buried very bottom right corner of lead sports page. Accidental???? Purposefully, because of changing commit to U.K.? I think it was no accident and would have merited a prominent location and expansive article on his outstanding career had he stayed a Cat. I also wonder if this particular Mr. Ky. Football award is about to be replaced by the Coach's Mr. Ky Football...

I'm 1,000 miles away and unfortunately have not see the Colonels play. Their stats say this team's strength isn't putting the ball in the hole. So, I am asking someone that has seen Bourbon play, how are they doing it? Defensive intensity from start to finish? Halfcourt trapping? Strong rebounding both ends? All heart and refuse to lose (i.e. Scott lastnight)? I really would like to hear. These guys have produced too strong a record to...

Bourbon prevails in OT versus Scott last night. Looking more and more how distant the Top 1 is from the next 3 which might be a toss-up with Brossart threatening to join that 2nd group mix. Great job Mcpapa.

Based on season stats alone if I was told a team was shooting 45% from field, 27% from 3, and 57% from FTs, I would not expect them to have a double digit victory streak. This is not a knock, but is Bourbon a ball-hawking, defensive team creating lots of TOs and getting all 50/50 balls? With the shooting so mediocre, can they sustain the mojo through Regional? This Scott game might tell us a lot.

One teams failure to execute speaks to their coming up short at a critical time and says nothing about the beneficiary. Luck...maybe? But, stealing.....I think not. Don't forget hack-a-shack was totally within the rules. Just because he shot bricks, no one justifiably felt the other team were thiefs. If you don't hit them in crunch time, you didn't deliver when the game was on the line.

Dayton programs of 60's were downright tough. Beat your brains out on that always sloppy field. Never heard anybody prove the watering conspiracy, but just new they had some players that would knock your block off your shoulders. Great tradition in that era. Hope new coach can replicate.

This game is played between the ears. If we have confidence in our decisions, the results can sometimes reward us beyond our abilities to execute.

Cannot disagree with you at all. I play 75-100 rounds each year and think my game is like a roller-coaster. 7.5 hdcp, but can have some pretty awful rounds, and habit has me pulling the stick. But, I am intrigued by what the data is going to show over a full season. Cybermetrics????? Changing baseball. Might have an impact despite R&A and USGA claiming no benefit.

Thanks rjs4470, but, Pelz never sites any data to convince me one way or the other. Putt speed, angle of hitting flag, and % of putts that fall from different distance will be tracked over time and generally support one either in or out over time. I suspect finesse putts hit slowly will fall more often with the flag in. While banging long putts will get an advantage hitting the stick. For us amateurs that have no clue about our speed, who...

I have not seen the science that confirms that leaving the flag in is an advantage. But, as I think about the speed of my misses (which are likely to bounce off the stick) versus the gentle pace of the pros which will more likely be subject to gravity, it begins to possibly make more sense for the pros. For most amateur bangers, we might still be better off with the flag out. Or, maybe not. Going to be a matter of personal confidence that...
