This will be his junior year. Suggest everyone catch his play for Pendleton when you can. Not many players like him come out of NKy very often.

Heard from good source he has grown to 6'6". Kid is the real deal and has learned a lot under Coach Belcher. Suspect prep school for his senior year is in the plan.

Can only speak to "the Band Director out". After numerous Class A State Championships (4 of last 5 years, I think?), he was offered one of the top 6A positions in Ky at Ryle High School that has been close to the top, but unable to dethrone Lafayette and a few other major programs. They came after him to get them there. Great opportunity and no knock on Beechwood that has been a longtime launching pad for outstanding young directors.

I am and it was. Delta losing my clubs for the first two days, driving rains, and blisters on my feet didn't dampen our spirits nor cause us to forego a round.

Got to share one unsolicited fact. European youth (far different from American youth) are flocking to the courses to caddy, practice and play. One of the major reasons is finances. Typically these courses are community owned...for example Cornoustie is owned by the city with 7 golf clubs that don't have courses themselves having member access to play. Typical annual memberships will total from $150 to $350. Everyone walks so no cart fees...

Sitting in the Sky Room at JFK sipping a Glenmorange and reminiscing the 9 great courses my son and I jusy played in 7 days. A golfer's dream, we played according to Golf Digest's World ratings #3 St. Andrews Old Course, #5 Royal County Down, #15 Royal Portrush (site of 2019's Open), #25 Carnoustie (2018's Open), #63 North Berwick, and not top 100 in the world, Prestwick (site of 1st Open in 1860 and Old Tom Morri's original course), St....

Did little Hinson play much? Look for him to be starter by mid-season. 8th grade point guard, at 6' that knows the game like a coach's son should.

Sat in stands Monday next to 9th Region, Ohio, and multiple college conference ump. Enjoyed conversations immensely. His strike zone for HS is inside white line to inside white line. His college strike zone is black to black. Different game at different levels. Problem for me, especially in critical situations in Districts/Regionals.

Interesting play right before Clark's grandslam. Bases loaded for GRC with high popup that pitcher staggers under, falls backwards and ball falls untouched about 3 feet fair apparently plating at least one run. Should have been 3rd out with no damage done. As runners are advancing, ball spins into foul territory about 30 feet from home. Ump correctly calls it foul. Everybody has that ....are you seeing what I just saw look of shock. Batter...

Fryman allows 11 hits but gets 8Ks and no Walks. All around solid outing with all 3 runs in 7th unearned with two infield errors followed by a three run, two out blast to right center (sorry don't know players name).

Thorobreds get a complete game from Nate Fryman to upset the Colonels in this 10th Region semifinal. Harrison took an 8-2 lead into top of 7th, but Bourbon rally falls short.

Was I right about Rom getting blown save and the Win? Operating from memory can be dangerous sometimes!

He did top of 7th, before they quickly brought Doty back in. This is my memory and all I've got.

Clark hits two dingers, one a grandslam and overpowers Brossart despite 2 homers and 3 RBIs by Bracke (?). Was impressed with GRC that was very sound defensively. Brossart had a tough night in the field with probably 4/5 throwing errors.

Doty could not get win simply because Highlands allowed his lead to evaporate after he was pulled. The Birds later went up 6-4 and he was brought back in to preserve the lead in the top of 7th for the Save. Rom gave up the tieing runs, but the Birds went back up 2 in bottom of 6th while he was still picher of record. So he got both a blown save, and the Win. Never seen this combo in my 71 years.

Going to repeat a very unusual (?) stat. Doty gets the Save on a game he started, and Rom gets a Win on a game he also earned a Blown Save. Don't think I ever heard of that combo.
