  1. Fantastic game. Murray is the real deal. Our girls played with such focus and poise this weekend. Congrats to NCC as well! Basketball is alive and well in Northern KY.
  2. 9-1 after beating Allen Co. today, again, without Deja Turner.
  3. HC is 8-1 with wins over Lex Lafayette and Sacred Heart. The lone loss coming last night against a pretty good shooting East Carter team. HC lead by 12 in the 2nd half but fell apart late. That was with their best player sitting the entire game and various other injuries and illnesses. To be fair, I believe EC had a starter out as well.
  4. Turner has a sprained ankle... will probably sit today as well. I think it was the right decision to sit her... let's get 100% healthy.
  5. FYI...Looks like JMU is playing in the Lexington Regional with UK....
  6. HOLY CROSS 15, BELLEVUE 0: Becca Ruschel pitched her first varsity no-hitter, and Holy Cross made it back to the All "A" regional semifinals for the second year in a row with the 15-0 mercy-rule win over the Tigers. Ruschel, who shut down Bellevue with fastballs, curves and a drop-ball, struck out six. She was 2-for-2 at the plate with two RBI. The Indians (5-7) scored early and often, with a nine-run first inning against the Tigers (1-5). Courtney Turner's bases-loaded triple made it 9-0. Holy Cross added two runs in the second, one in the third and three in the fourth. Lauren Newton's two-run single in the bottom of the fourth set the final score and ended it. Turner went 2-for-3 with four RBI. Anna Clements drove in two runs for the Indians. Bellevue 000 0 -- 0 - 0 - 5 Holy Cross 921 3 -- 15 - 8 - 1 WP: Ruschel (2-3) 6 K's. LP: Ross. Leaders: H-Turner 2-3, 3B, 4 RBI; Ruschel 2-2, 2 RBI; Clements 2 RBI; Newton 2 RBI. Records: H 5-7, B 1-5.
  7. Are those fields really going to be playable tomorrow after all of this rain?
  8. Field 3 (back field) was the only one ready for play this afternoon. My understanding was that they expected to be about an hour or so behind on the other fields.
  9. Uncle Pete tourney at Softball City, Taylor Mill, KY Campbell County took advantage of a couple errors and jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead. Holy Cross bounced back in their half of the first, cutting the lead to 3-2 on a ground-out by Clement, but could get no closer. Becca Ruschell pitched well in defeat. Freshman Courtney Turner went 3-3 with a double and an RBI. Shortstop Alehia Tucker made a fine play at short, smothering a hard hit ball on her knees and bouncing up to throw the runner out by a 1/2 step.
  10. Six unearned runs in the 1st inning led to the 'Stangs easy 11-1 win in 5 innings Thursday night in Alexandria. The Indians only run came in the top of the first. Tucker led off with a double and promptly scored on a throwing error on a ground ball by the 2-hitter Veronica Specht. Courtney Turner followed with a walk but Brossart got out of the inning with no further damage. Pretty uneventful from there. Very sloppy game defensively by the young Indians. Clement took the loss. Her record falls to 1-2 on the year.
  11. I'll ask about it. The catchers on both teams were sitting a little too close to the batter. I did notice that as well. The umps were telling them to move back a bit all night.
  12. Seems as if that would be a little harder to follow for someone only interested in how a particular team is doing...but as you wish. I'll create a new thread for each game going forward.
  13. Scott 3 HC 10 The Lady Indians picked up their first win of the season down at the Frozen Tundra (Bowman Field) tonight. Freshman Alehia Tucker hit an inside the park HR on a rocket past the center fielder and sophomore Ashley Meeks tripled to right with the bases loaded to fuel the offense. Anna Clement picked up the win, going the distance.
